I am currently building a XML gallery. The thumbnails are created inside the FLA file, and it's driven with a XML file. When a thumbnail is clicked, it will bring up the Detail movieclip. And inside the Detail movieclip, I've created some buttons with an external class of "DetailButtons". Inside the DetailButtons class, the buttons dispatch a custom event that the FLA is listening for. The problem is I can't figure out how to have one of the buttons open the corresponding url link in the XML file. I just keep getting the 1069 error.[code]
I'm relatively new and I've made a script on my banner for buttons to link internally to different pages on my webpage. The problem I'm having is every time I click on a link it directs me into a new window, it will redirect in the same window and new tabs wont keep poping up? I'm having trouble making Flash open any links when embedded into my MySpace profile. I'm developing a MySpace profile layout that uses embedded SWF movies in custom created DIVs. Everything was going great. Things were loading into place and I managed to get my homemade Twitter widget to update perfectly using a crossdomain.xml.
The one problem I can't seem to address is the 'opening links' issue. Upon searching for the last couple of days, I came across some articles that claim MySpace blocks "navigateToURL" commands. Also found out a workaround that involves placing a transparent GIF over the area which is supposed to be clickable, but I still have hope that such a basic function as clicking a button within an embedded SWF in MySpace and opening said link can be achieved.
Each page has like the first page "Welcome" followed by a brief paragraph followed by a "read more..." link/button which opens to a small popup window with additional 3-4 paragraphs. So the main page has "WELCOME" > small paragraph > read more button.
Below that has "LATEST WORKS" > small paragraph > read more button
Both of those "read more..." lead to the same popup window but have their own title "Welcome" and "Latest works"(don't know where the mini title file is) but the paragraphs are the same which I don't want. I want each "read more..." to open to its own little popup.

The links I have in my .swf keep opening in new windows/tabs rather than the same one, how can I make it open in the same tab? Here's my actionscript 3 script:

I'm working on a site that's intended to display full screen. At present the initial HTML page has a "launch site" link which pops up a fullscreen window (via javascript window.open) with our Flash content.Once in the Flash site, all URLs that point at off-site destinations are set to open in a new window ("_blank" as the target - either an href in text, or via navigateToUrl). In Mac Firefox the new window opens BEHIND the full-screen Flash (as a new tab in my case). In Windows FF and IE, and Mac Safari, the new window pops in front of the fullscreen Flash.Is there a way to make the non-fullscreen window pop in front of the fullscreen Flash? I'm using swfobject 2.1 - perhaps I need to use an externalInterface call...thoughts?
i created a flash slideshow with pictures of events and link each picture with its own event (ie. each pictures has its own links to the website). I created the fade in and fade out effect using the class motion tween. With the link, I created a layer with a button that has alpha= 0 (so the user don't see it) and then I used code snippet to make another layer with the action script "click to go to url."
When the slideshow goes to the last picture I made it fade out and the first picture of the slideshow would show up and then the slideshow would replay itself (by default?). My goal is to make a continuous slideshow.
When I tested the swf file, the first time it runs, everything is right. The urls and the pictures are in correct order. However when the slideshow replays itself automatically, I notice that the links are incorrect. In the first play, when I click the picture of the event it would open the url of that event.However when the sldieshow replays, clicking the pictures would only open the url of the first event picture. When I click on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.pictures the browser opens only the link of the first picture of the slideshow.
I've got a PHP script that searches for links in a block of text and converts them to HTML values. The $message variable is then entered into my database using a simple INSERT. So far, so good. Then I have Flash parse the message using XML:

The problem, however, is that my links don't work. The rollover works from the CSS styling, but the links don't actually go anywhere. When I rollover the links, the hand cursor doesn't appear, and clicking only serves to change the color back to the non-hover value.
I'm writing some code in Flash MX 2004 and everything works fine except for the last button (4DSystemsProducts).According to the coding if none of the drop down buttons work it should go to products.php, but for some reason it goes to 4DSystemsProducts.php. All of the other menus are coded the same way and work fine, if I take out that button it works fine,or if I take out button 7 and switch 4DSystems to button 7 everything works.Here is the code to clear up this explanation. I am trying to have multiple links off site but have hit a brick wall. If I have the code listed below, it opens the second link as soon as you open the links page, If I have the"function onLinkClick (evt)", above btn6_btn I end up with the duplicate error message. Is there a way to have multiple link buttons on a page. I have played with this for hours.
It must be obvious, but I can't seem to figure out in CS4 how to view 2 different fla windows at the same time, each with its own timeline and stage. I often used this in Flash 8 to select and drag elements from one to another.

I have a .fla that is in actionscript 3.0 and when I try to open it it doesn't show up. It's almost like I open it and flash just forgets about it. No tab shows up. I don't think it's loading because there is no lag and I have full use of flash with other open projects.
I have been working on an application. There is a login screen for the application, in one of the swf's I have been writing the login code, along-with communications with XML. Now once the user has been validated, I want to redirect the user to some XYZ.swf file and close the login.swf file else if not then I have to display an error message.

I have an xml document that holds the navigation structure for an swf file. I need to have one of the URL's open in a new tab. All of the urls are held in the xml file, the swf file references everything from the xml.

I have an .exe in fullscreen mode with different links. If I click on one link, the browser opens up in front of the .exe and shows the link. but if I leave the browser open and go to the .exe and click on another link, this link will be open on a new tab, and the browser wont be brought back in fornt of the .exe. so the user wont know that the link has been open.
how to create a self opening CD-ROM in AS2(CS3). I have created an interactive multimedia CV, and I would love to get it to self open when the CD Rom is loaded into the drive. I have done this before using director to open the swf file, but would prefer to do this just using Flash.
