I have been using this code in an external .as file to download PDF files but I now have the need to have them open in a blank tab / window
[Code]...
here's the simple code I'm working with:
download_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onDownload);
function onDownload(e:MouseEvent):void {
var dl_request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(current_url);
try {
navigateToURL(dl_request, '_blank');

Basically, this is a button that (when clicked) is supposed to allow the user to download an MP3 file. It works as planned except that when the button is clicked, the MP3 just opens up in the browser or in Windows Media Player or whatever default "playing" application the user has. I want it to work in the same way as when you right-click a link and choose "Save Link As..." so that when they click it they actually will save the MP3 file itself to their computer (so, the "Save" dialog box will pop up when they click the link), instead of the file just opening/playing.
I am trying to setup a link for users to download a PDF from my site. Does anyone know if there is a way to force a download dialogue box, instead of having the PDF open in a new window. I've been using the GetURL to do this. I have looked everywhere, and only found this: [URL] But when I try to do it, there are errors, and its way above me to fix. I'm trying to do this because for some very weird reason, when it opens now in the new window, Acrobat just crashes (no clue why, but it does on all computers -- I've tested on 5).
View 1 RepliesI am making a flash project with photos - videos and many things like that.I would like to be able to have a download button on every picture for example.I only know the getURL("Image1.jpg", "_blank"); functionBut this is not the way i like it cause it opens the image or other into a new window.I want to be able to download it and not see it in a new window...Is there a way even with php connection to open this download window when i choose to download something from flash project?
View 2 Repliesi am downloading tiff images from WAMP server using our Flex AIR client. Using the following code for that.
public static function requestDownload(id:int, defaultName:String):void {
//POST params
var urlVars:URLVariables = new URLVariables();
[Code].....
No issues with the download. It automatically prompts for a Save dialog. Works well. But i want to open the image being downloaded in a viewer(flash viewer or any) instead of the save dialog.
I want my app (AIR app ported on iOS) to be able to show file located on the remote server and open it with default app (if there's one on device). Is it possible (maybe one can somehow use openWithDefaultApp here)?
UPD: I succeed with downloading (into File.documentsDirectory). I can't force iPad to open downloaded files.
UPD2: I tried to use both openWithDefaultApp and NavigateToUrl.
i have a flash site that links to PDF's with the navigateToURL function which works etc But now i would like Link to rather open up a download window instead of just a new browser window?
View 3 RepliesI want disable IDM(internet download manager)'s download video option from my youtube videos.
View 1 RepliesSo I basically have used the fileReference class to allow the user to download a determined file if he wants to.
I use the file.download(URL) function and it works well.
However, the file is downloaded and saved to the hard drive using only the flash player. The browser is not aware of the download, and thus, if I want to show the progress of the download I'd have to make some progress bar myself. I know how to do it, but it would become really tedious and take too much UI space.
Isn't there a damn way in Flash to "send" a determined file to the browser so that it prompts the user to download it? It's an image file, so navigateToURL doesn't cut it since it will just display the image, both if I use a new tab or the current one.
I'm working at a company which has high security environment.Akamai Download Manager starts to download a trial Flash CS5. However, it stops quickly and downloads nothing (zero byte).I want to download a trial Flash CS5 without Akamai Download Manager!
View 3 RepliesI generate a HTML page with VB.Net which stores several pinks to files. These links are formatted with JavaScript looking like the Windows-Explorer with folders and files. The problem: There are only download links for the files, not for Folders. A folder can contain Subfolders ,a List of Files or a combination of both. So if I want to download a folder, I have to click manually on every file-link. I have not the possibility to insert PHP or another Server-side language. my question now is: Is there a client side way to Download them by click on a Folder? I prefer Javascript but If it isn't possible Flash will be ok also.
View 2 RepliesI have a few buttons rigged up for downloading word.doc, mp3 etc
Problem is its opening the file rather than giving a download this file option.
I want to download files from the server side to client side without prompting a window to the user to download when any updates happen at server side.Right now I am using urlstream class but first file is downloading completely rest of the files contents downloading partially.
editCode sample taken from other post. Warning: it's a huuuge chunk o'code.

View 2 Replies1) how do you open a new window if you have thumbnail pics in the flash movie but want the full pic to open up in a new window? Is this Javascript inside flash?

I am trying to have multiple links off site but have hit a brick wall. If I have the code listed below, it opens the second link as soon as you open the links page, If I have the"function onLinkClick (evt)", above btn6_btn I end up with the duplicate error message. Is there a way to have multiple link buttons on a page. I have played with this for hours.

I work with 3d animation. Im have a problem with a personal website Im doing, I have a link in a button inside a flash movie to open a new window and play a youtube movie:
on (release) {
var jscommand:String = "window.open('http://www.youtube.com/v/b0L4XLODhAA&hl=en&fs=1&','win','height=344,width=4 25,toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes');"; getURL("javascript:" + jscommand + " void(0);");
}
This works fine in Firefox but in IE it doesnt work, I then change the /v/ in the youtube link with /p.swf?video_id= and now I have the window open showing the small youtube thumbnail of my video but once a click play, nothing happens, I check it and is not loading anything.
Is there a way to open the "open file dialog box" in a swf using javascript.
The swf is on a webpage.
I'm a teacher, and so animations are a God-send. However, the internet in my school can often be a little temperamental and so I like to download flash files, often embedding them into a PPT presentation.However, as of late, I've come across a few that I just can't seem to download. Please note that I am not after the credit for these files, or any way to edit them, I just want to be able to download them to show at my will, regardless of the internet working.The file that I'm currently struggling is a great animation on rocks and the rock cycle:

I can download the SWF, but it will do nothing but sit at "Loading: 1%"...Is it even possible to download this file?The same has been true of files over at eChalk - our school has a subscription, but again, if the internet plays up, no animations.
downloading a flash movie in a website and save it as mpg. Here's the link [URL]
View 1 RepliesI have a flash file embedded in an html page. Within the swf I have a link to download a pdf. It works in fine in Firefox but IE bombs out. Any ideas or fixes?
View 1 RepliesI want to know is there any script or method for not to let swf file to download into the viewer's temporary internet folder .I know there is way , I saw lots of flash gaming sites where the actual flash file does not get downloaded and it can only be watched online. I want to protect my swf from tempering.
View 2 Repliesthis forum is labeled "there is no such thing as a stupid question in here", so... I want to download the Flash Player 7 SDK, but the Adobe website has discontinued it in favour of Flash Lite. So far as I know, it was freely downloadable (at least for non-commercial use) until 2007, but now it has disappeared entirely from the 'net.
