My CS5 flash crashed when I changed the name of the root folder while it was open. Swf is working fine, but .fla file wont open, I get a "Failed to open document" message. This is a disaser because I've lost two days of work. Is there anything that could be done to fix this problem?

View 1 RepliesI have been working on a flash website inside flash CS5 here at school. I have been working for almost 3 hours with no problems and I have made sure to save from time to time. I have saved with no problems. My problem came when I clicked on test movie. As the movie was loading to test the SWF of the website flash crashed and closed out on me. I had just saved before testing so I could have the latest saved. I double click on my flash document to re-open flash and I get a message that says "Failed to open document."
Right after the message it lists the folder where my file is located. I still cannot get past this message and my file is a website I have been working on for over 3 hours now. I needed this for school and I guess if I can't fix it I will have to start from scratch although I had so much work completed. I even tried to open flash first and then go to file open but that did nothing except give me the same error message. Then I looked under recent documents and clicked on the file document and got the same thing.
I did yesterday my last changes and since this morning I could open it anymore. I got this every time : Failed to open document[code]...

I reopened Flash and went to open my project back up (I didn't do much more to it so I wasn't unhappy that it crashed while saving), it gave me this output error:[code]Does this mean my file's lost forever? View 4 RepliesI just taught myself Adobe Flash and created a very intricate file with lots of moving parts. I saved it and then went to improve it. Of course it was taking forever so I got up from the computer to let it do its thing and I accidently knocked out my external harddrive. A lil freaked out I exited out of adobe flash- plugged it back in and went to open my file. However, it wont open now! I've saved it a dozen times after I added each new part but I have nothing now! Is there a way to get it to open? The message that comes up simply says failed to open document.

I've made an user login, working with php and MySQL. When the user logs in, he can see all of his details, loaded from a database. Here he can press a button to change this content. After changing it, he needs to press the "save" button to load the new data into the database. I no longer have access to a mac and my computer at home is a pc but whenever I go to open the file, a pop up tells me that its an unexpected file and will not open.

I contacted adobe support who claim that since the problem is related to the file this is not their problem, what a load of HORSE ****, who should i contact about this dell if its an FLA FILE!? I have already renamed the file to flash.zip then opened with WinRar and repaired as a new zip file to a different folder (which removes the corrupt content which is document something.xml) then i tried renaming this folder back to flash.fla however the file still does not open.

It looks nice I'm the man.However, now when I try to publish it, the HTML file will not work. It says "windows cannot find this file,you have typed the location correctly".I am double clicking directly on the file and not typing anything, in fact I was considering checking on Ebay to see if I could upgrade my PC to have eyes.The feature has worked previously, which leads me to the conclusion that something else has changed. I have tried using the publish setting, I have also tried using Dreamweaver to embed the file, and have also tried manually inserting the necessary code after seeing some on a website.

i have had cs4 for a long time now, and yesterday it suddenly took flash 10 minutes to open a document. i have loaded different documents to see what is the problem and found out it was the documents containing a lot of code (on frame1) that made him almost freeze. it takes ages to open medium size .as files, and even editing normal stage objects takes about 5 times longer. flash takes about 25% of cpu. i reinstalled, restarted, cleared aso, nothing.

I would like to display a message in flash "we are open" or "we are closed" based upon time. Naturally I can do this for the users local time on their system, but is it possible to work out if their time is different to UK time (GMT) and display those messages accordingly. After all I don't want a user to see a message "we are open" at 1pm their time - they could be in Japan and it'd be about 4am UK time. Is this possible to work out the time difference on any system?
