I have files from a class that I took in 2D animation. There are things that I wanted to fix and finish, but the computers that we did the assignments on were macs. I no longer have access to a mac and my computer at home is a pc but whenever I go to open the file, a pop up tells me that its an unexpected file and will not open.

View 1 Repliesthis is the first time i encounter this problem.. I had the problem where a file would not open correctly which was also addressed at this forum. But this one is different. this file was created (from what i remember) in Flash 8, then opened/saved in all possible flash versions for updates in time. While it will open just fine, it will not publish. The publish window with the percentage will open up for a split second, then it will close with no messages whatsoever, no actionscript errors, nothing. F12, the same thing again. No possible settings could solve this.
I am willing to send the file for testing of course, have tried to publish using Flash cs4 and Flash cs5. I thought of going back to Flash 8 by opening the file and saving to a previous version but as soon as i open the file in Flash cs3 (while the file has been saved as cs3) it will not open the file with an error message that i cannot remember right now.

View 1 RepliesI am working on a flash file which i am hopeing to use for a project. I seem to be having a problem with the software. Everytime i make changes to the file and press CTRL + Return to test the moive, it comes up with errors. When i click on the errors to take me to the line of code with the error, it seems to be displaying code from a previous version of the same file which i deleted. When i delete the code and layers agin and then rewrtie the new code and add the new layers again Flash seems to stop responding for like 15 minutes. Once it does respond, i save the file and reopen it everthing seems fine but as soon as i press CTRL + Return the exact same thing happens.
View 10 RepliesWe have create a flash file for both Touchscreen TV and Website.The document frame is is 1920x1080 however we would like to export the project so it can be seen on the website at the correct compression.Is there a way to export the SWF to the required 945x532.I know how to export it in the HTML however this reads the same SWF that is still too large in file size (not web friendly).I could pull the compression down to say 10% before exporting the SWF however there must be a better method.
View 5 RepliesMy CS5 flash crashed when I changed the name of the root folder while it was open. Swf is working fine, but .fla file wont open, I get a "Failed to open document" message. This is a disaser because I've lost two days of work. Is there anything that could be done to fix this problem?
View 2 RepliesI have been working on a project for a week and suddenly it crashed during save (nothing strange had been imported or anything i just saved after moving content around) and now i cant open my file again. I contacted adobe support who claim that since the problem is related to the file this is not their problem, what a load of HORSE ****, who should i contact about this dell if its an FLA FILE!? I have already renamed the file to flash.zip then opened with WinRar and repaired as a new zip file to a different folder (which removes the corrupt content which is document something.xml) then i tried renaming this folder back to flash.fla however the file still does not open.

She's on vacation for 2 weeks (so I can't have her edit or resend the files as CS4) and I just got an email that the client needs a couple tweeks and all I have is CS4. Is there any way (or any program) that can backwards convert a CS5 file?
View 4 RepliesI just taught myself Adobe Flash and created a very intricate file with lots of moving parts. I saved it and then went to improve it. Of course it was taking forever so I got up from the computer to let it do its thing and I accidently knocked out my external harddrive. A lil freaked out I exited out of adobe flash- plugged it back in and went to open my file. However, it wont open now! I've saved it a dozen times after I added each new part but I have nothing now! Is there a way to get it to open? The message that comes up simply says failed to open document.

I have tried this on multiple machines all resulting in the same error message. I have also tried saving the file in CS4 under a new name, did a compact and save and a magic spell. I have Flash CS3. I have created a flash file. If I click on the SWF file I have no problems opening it It plays. It looks nice I'm the man.However, now when I try to publish it, the HTML file will not work. It says "windows cannot find this file,you have typed the location correctly".I am double clicking directly on the file and not typing anything, in fact I was considering checking on Ebay to see if I could upgrade my PC to have eyes.The feature has worked previously, which leads me to the conclusion that something else has changed. I have tried using the publish setting, I have also tried using Dreamweaver to embed the file, and have also tried manually inserting the necessary code after seeing some on a website.

I have a flash file using xml to link to html pages all within SharePoint. When I click on a link from inside flash, it opens up a new browser window with the html content.Is there a way to open the html content in the same browser that the flash file is in?
View 6 RepliesI downloaded the trial version so I could work on the final project for class but for some reason when I tried to save it my computer froze up. Is this because the save feature is turned off for the trial version or was it just my computer? If I can't save using the trial version than I wasted memory on my computer and a lot of my time downloading the trial version that isn't going to be very useful to me.

the folder containing the files has several .swf files in it. We'll call two of them abc1.swf and abc2.swf.
I have created two html pages which when viewed on my PC open up either file and view it just fine.

However, when I copy the directory to my windows CE 6.0 R3 device, the page that opens abc2.swf shows correctly. But the page that is supposed to open abc1.swf just shows a blank white area.
I am pretty sure that the abc1.swf is only supposed to redirect to abc2.swf (or put within a frame) given it's 1kb size and the fact that I can see the text abc2.swf within it when opened in notepad.
I've been told that the flash player built into Windows CE 6.0 R3 is only capable of supporting flash v8 or less. I suspect that perhaps the issue with abc.swf could be that it was built with a newer version of flash such as v9 or v10.
Is there any way for me to tell which version of flash a given .swf file requires using only freely available tools? Or, does anyone have any other theories about what would cause abc1.swf to work on my PC but not on my windows CE device?

When I publish the file as .swf out of Flash CS5, then upload it to a remote server or view it in a browser window, everything has gone wacky--text is larger in scale than in the original file and the animations (fade in and slide in) on the first page, which I can't get past, run in a continuous loop.

This has to be the worst, most unorganized website ive ever been to .Not surprising considering the quality of flash and their other product. no wonder steve jobs wants nothing to do with these morons. I have come close to throwing my computer out the window cuz of these fools.
