I have a flash file using xml to link to html pages all within SharePoint. When I click on a link from inside flash, it opens up a new browser window with the html content.Is there a way to open the html content in the same browser that the flash file is in?
View 6 RepliesWhenever I publish a Flash project, when I open the html file that is generated along with the swf, I am never able to see the swf embedded in the html file (when I open it in Dreamweaver, for example.) This is frustrating as far as manipulating the html file is concerned. All I see is some text about "Place alternate content here for those w/o Flash Player installed, etc." Why can't I see the swf file? It is there as expected when I upload all the proper files and/or view them in a browser locally. Alternatively, what I am having to do in order to design the html file properly is open a new file and embed the swf manually. But this approach is not good as I am missing out on all the other browser detection features that the html file that is published by Flash includes naturally. How can I preserve this benefit and still get into the details of designing the html file?

I have Flash CS3. I have created a flash file. If I click on the SWF file I have no problems opening it It plays. It looks nice I'm the man.However, now when I try to publish it, the HTML file will not work. It says "windows cannot find this file,you have typed the location correctly".I am double clicking directly on the file and not typing anything, in fact I was considering checking on Ebay to see if I could upgrade my PC to have eyes.The feature has worked previously, which leads me to the conclusion that something else has changed. I have tried using the publish setting, I have also tried using Dreamweaver to embed the file, and have also tried manually inserting the necessary code after seeing some on a website.

I have been working on a project for a week and suddenly it crashed during save (nothing strange had been imported or anything i just saved after moving content around) and now i cant open my file again. I contacted adobe support who claim that since the problem is related to the file this is not their problem, what a load of HORSE ****, who should i contact about this dell if its an FLA FILE!? I have already renamed the file to flash.zip then opened with WinRar and repaired as a new zip file to a different folder (which removes the corrupt content which is document something.xml) then i tried renaming this folder back to flash.fla however the file still does not open.

If FF is already open, the getURL functions fine. If FF is closed, I have to click on my button twice in order to open the file (ie, click once opens a blank window, click again and the file opens) I have FF 2.0.0.1, Flash MX 2004 Prof. I have tried setting an interval to have the getURL fire again but I can't seem to get it to work.

I have a task to upgrade a web site. I have a map of ND with some cities on it. I needed to add a new city to the SWF which did not seem to be hard (asuming I did it correct). The action on all the buttons for each city look like this except the name after the # is the city selected.

when i am trying my code by ctrl + enter nothing happens i just get the trace message.
I would like to force a pdf to be saved to disc rather than opening in a browser window? I am actually executing the command in flash in a button instance like this

So how can I do this so it gives the pop up window of save to disc option?

I never worked with movie files before and I'm having problems to play a f4v file from a html file.
Inside flash, when I do a ctrl+enter, the video shows and plays just fine.
When building the .html file to play it all, only my presentation and movie skin will show up but the movie won't load.
Even if I do a file > publish the video won't show up or play. Everything I have on timeline is working just fine (and again, even the videoskin is showing up).
Now, do I have to change anything inside publish settings or do I need to try something different with html?

I have got a page which lets me control some devices in a local network. However, some of the advanced settings can be set only using an .exe file which is located on the computer where I run the configuration page. I would like to have all the configurational tools "in one place" so it would be nice to have a kind of link/block/button/flash animation/whatever which - after being clicked by the user - would run a specified .exe file. I think that it is possible somehow, because I've seen MMO games which are launched using a webpage. I also suspect that html/javascript will not let me to do something like that, so maybe the answer is Flash?

How does the browser load flash files? Do they load progressively, or does the browser wait until the entire flash file is loaded before displaying it?The reason is I have a tiny clip that is extremely high in quality, only a few seconds long, but it's over 4 mb.Will the user have to wait until all 4 mb is loaded before viewing? Or does it load as the user watches it? I just imported a .flv into Flash, and exported as a .swf.

View 2 RepliesUsing LoadVars.send() I insert info into a mysql database.I then click a button and the updated db content is shown in a textfield. Problem is that a HTML file is auto-opened in the browser.
When using LoadVars.sendAndLoad() I can still insert info into the database, but I can NOT update the info in the textfield. For some reason the "old" db content is loaded again.Flash and PHP files are in same folder on server.
Is there any way of showing a link's destination from a swf in the browser? The answer might be a simple no. Hard to explain, so I have attached a screenshot that makes it clearer.

Unfortunately, if the browser doesn't have flash installed/enabled (I tested on Chrome and Safari), then the file upload element is completely disappearing, while I would have expected to have at least plain, regular, file upload html element as a fallback.
You can see this behavior even in Uploadify official demo (as of today, 28.2.2011):
none of these work in the situation that flash is installed, but is disabled !
for example, this line:

behaves the same weather flash is installed and enabled, or installed and disabled I thought about obtaining uploadify API and checking it, but I have found zero examples
