Professional :: Cannot Center Html Flash File In A Browser
Feb 19, 2011
After i publish a flash project and try to open the html file with a browser it is always at the left of the browser, why? In addition i have some problems with size too..
What is the size of the browser's area for viewing any content(i mean the parts below the navigation tabs to start menu)? How can i adjust my project to this? Note: My html settings seems true, it says "center center" but i dont know how to solve this.

My workspace is 1000X1200 and I have a background image in Flash 1920 width. I want the SWF to aligned to center in the HTML with a regular browser scroller.
I'm trying to publish 100% X 100% with no scale but the scroll bar doesn't show from bottom to top and the SWF parts are missing!
How can I make it to show the background (what outside stage) with regular browsers scrollers and align to center?

how to horizontally center my Flash movie in the web browser window after publishing?
A bit of background: I was able to achieve this using <center></center> tags a few years ago. But I have since upgraded to CS5 and I understand that this old method is now obsolete.
I have found a few threads/forums that address this, but I know nothing about HTML and these threads don't help me because they assume you have more knowledge than I possess. When opening up the index.html file in Dreamweaver I can't find anything that looks vaguely familiar to what is being discussed. I have found some code samples using <div></div> tags but have no idea where to place it.
So I will need it explained to me in a step by step fashion, including which file I need to fix and what program I should use. Code samples will be very welcome if you can tell me exactly where it goes.

I used the publish feature of flash but it does not seem to center the SWF in the browser. Why is there a centering feature on the publish settings under HTML tab if it does not center the SWF? It only works if you set Dimensions to Percent but that exposes the area beyond the stage and i don't want it to be seen. In addition that causes some movieclips to be improperly positioned. The Flash Alignment should have been disabled if the Dimensions is not set to Percent. Perhaps a simple script that centers my swf file in a browser..

I'm new at Flash so my code understanding is very limited. For my 1st site I tried to make a very simple site which would float in the center of the browser, but my site is centered and stuck at the top below the browser.
1. How do I get it centered both vertical & horizontal?
2. How do I edit the placement position in design mode without having to go into code?
My site address is [URL] I'm sure I have more code then is needed because I started with a sample file and tried to delete unneeded parts.

How does the browser load flash files? Do they load progressively, or does the browser wait until the entire flash file is loaded before displaying it?The reason is I have a tiny clip that is extremely high in quality, only a few seconds long, but it's over 4 mb.Will the user have to wait until all 4 mb is loaded before viewing? Or does it load as the user watches it? I just imported a .flv into Flash, and exported as a .swf.

Is there any way of showing a link's destination from a swf in the browser? The answer might be a simple no. Hard to explain, so I have attached a screenshot that makes it clearer.

I have an HTML form with a file upload element, which is based on Uploadify. Unfortunately, if the browser doesn't have flash installed/enabled (I tested on Chrome and Safari), then the file upload element is completely disappearing, while I would have expected to have at least plain, regular, file upload html element as a fallback.
You can see this behavior even in Uploadify official demo (as of today, 28.2.2011):
none of these work in the situation that flash is installed, but is disabled !
for example, this line:
if (swfobject.getFlashPlayerVersion().major === 0)
behaves the same weather flash is installed and enabled, or installed and disabled I thought about obtaining uploadify API and checking it, but I have found zero examples

Many people install an add on to their browser - such as Flashblocker, or FlashOff - in order to stop annoying advertisements from auto-running. Is it possible to detect that this has been done, and then (obviously) use JScript to put up an alternative if this is the case?
If you cannot do this, then there is really no point to using Flash's higher functions, because the majority of users will see them only if they click a gray panel with a hopeful button in the middle of it. Flash becomes merely a decorative bolt on for web applications.

My flash movie is 1440x900 but the area where all the important stuff happens in within 1024x768, i am trying to keep the middle in the center regardless of browers size or aspect ratio.
I can center the page but it doesn't work as i need it to. If the browers is small (1024x768) the swf is justified against the left edge, but not keeping the middle in the middle of the brower.
[URL] is an example of exactly what i am trying to achieve.

Just upgraded to Flash CS4. Published .swf/.html files... Trying to get the .swf to display in the center (horizontally) of the .html page / browser window. Previously I used <div align="center"><object>...</object></div> but that no longer works! It displays centered from within Dreamweaver but not in any browsers I've tried. Can't for the life of me figure out why!!
I noticed Flash CS4 now spits out a whole lotta code in the generated .html file and I'm assuming the source of the problem is somewhere within. The only workaround I've found so far is to publish just the .swf and manually embed it into a new .html page... but then I no longer have all the (detection) code.

Recently I designed and programmed a website.... and today I have come (this happens only in internet explorer web browser)Every other web browser like firefox, safari it's loads totally fine.click on the URL link below and click on any buttons in the navigation bar with your mouse cursor. As you can see a quick blink, the flash file is at the very top left hand side before its in the correct position. (underneath the nav bar)It seems that the wmode / transparent is causing it.If I remove wmode - it loads fine in ie.ut I need the transparent / wmode for the drop down menu to work (so its visible while the flash file is there.)

I've created an eBook that's 972 X 500 pixels (13.5" X 7"). The image in the browser is roughly 9.5 inches wide. Is there a way to make the browser display the image at actual size? Am I missing something here? The SWF file does print out at the true size from the browser.

I have got a page which lets me control some devices in a local network. However, some of the advanced settings can be set only using an .exe file which is located on the computer where I run the configuration page. I would like to have all the configurational tools "in one place" so it would be nice to have a kind of link/block/button/flash animation/whatever which - after being clicked by the user - would run a specified .exe file. I think that it is possible somehow, because I've seen MMO games which are launched using a webpage. I also suspect that html/javascript will not let me to do something like that, so maybe the answer is Flash?

Ive researched quite a bit and ran into the "Stage.align" property but when I use it it gives me an undefined error. How to use this properly?

I am a Flash novice who was asked to do a brief training exercise on importing a simple .swf (3D animation) into Flash. However, I cannot figure out how to center the .swf on the Flash stage. Flash always places it in the top left corner of the stage, and while I can center each individual frame of the 50-frame animation by using the align feature in the properties window, I do not know how to center the entire 50-frame clip all at once. Do I have to use ActionScript to do this? And if so, what is the exact code I would need for this, and what exact procedure would I follow?

I have an intro page that allows users to enter either a high bandwidth (flash) version of the site or a low bandwidth (html) version of the site. The flash has a preloader but it is still quite long for some to load. I was wondering if it is possible and what the best way to have the swf file load behind the scenes on the intro page so that when the use clicks the high bandwidth enterance the swf is already loaded or mostly loaded.

I am a Flash novice and ran into a problem when my Flash generated html file opens in Safari (I'm designing on a Mac) but would not open on a recipient's computer - a PC using IE. I'm using CS5 and set up the file for actionscript 2.0. I know one needs to be sensitive to the various browsers being used, but how does one go about that and how can I begin to troubleshoot my current problem? I didn't use any special coding...I don't know action script yet.

Whenever I publish a Flash project, when I open the html file that is generated along with the swf, I am never able to see the swf embedded in the html file (when I open it in Dreamweaver, for example.) This is frustrating as far as manipulating the html file is concerned. All I see is some text about "Place alternate content here for those w/o Flash Player installed, etc." Why can't I see the swf file? It is there as expected when I upload all the proper files and/or view them in a browser locally. Alternatively, what I am having to do in order to design the html file properly is open a new file and embed the swf manually. But this approach is not good as I am missing out on all the other browser detection features that the html file that is published by Flash includes naturally. How can I preserve this benefit and still get into the details of designing the html file?

Using Flash CS4 and having the Flash plug-in ver 10 on my PC, the generated html file will not play the swf in the browser.I noticed that the active-x javascript is now included in the header as well as the javascript portion in the body tag.But it won't play. I get the typical blank window in IE with the "X" in the upper left corner.I don't have this problem with Flash CS3.
