Jun 30, 2010this is the first time i encounter this problem.. I had the problem where a file would not open correctly which was also addressed at this forum. But this one is different. this file was created (from what i remember) in Flash 8, then opened/saved in all possible flash versions for updates in time. While it will open just fine, it will not publish. The publish window with the percentage will open up for a split second, then it will close with no messages whatsoever, no actionscript errors, nothing. F12, the same thing again. No possible settings could solve this.
I am willing to send the file for testing of course, have tried to publish using Flash cs4 and Flash cs5. I thought of going back to Flash 8 by opening the file and saving to a previous version but as soon as i open the file in Flash cs3 (while the file has been saved as cs3) it will not open the file with an error message that i cannot remember right now.

I no longer have access to a mac and my computer at home is a pc but whenever I go to open the file, a pop up tells me that its an unexpected file and will not open.

Jun 13, 2011I am working on a flash file which i am hopeing to use for a project. I seem to be having a problem with the software. Everytime i make changes to the file and press CTRL + Return to test the moive, it comes up with errors. When i click on the errors to take me to the line of code with the error, it seems to be displaying code from a previous version of the same file which i deleted. When i delete the code and layers agin and then rewrtie the new code and add the new layers again Flash seems to stop responding for like 15 minutes. Once it does respond, i save the file and reopen it everthing seems fine but as soon as i press CTRL + Return the exact same thing happens.

Aug 3, 2010We have create a flash file for both Touchscreen TV and Website.The document frame is is 1920x1080 however we would like to export the project so it can be seen on the website at the correct compression.Is there a way to export the SWF to the required 945x532.I know how to export it in the HTML however this reads the same SWF that is still too large in file size (not web friendly).I could pull the compression down to say 10% before exporting the SWF however there must be a better method.

Dec 9, 2010is there a way to capture the Error loading message as a boolean when loading an external file (AS2)? I wanted to make a decision based on the success for loadMovieNum.
The scenario is that I have a file that I am loading with loadMovieNum and all is working successfully.
The circumstance I wish to cover is if the file is missing for any reason, I want to load a placeholder movie.
I have looked at onLoad and onClipEvent(load) but these appear to only be for movieclips and not external files.

Sep 21, 2011I downloaded the trial version so I could work on the final project for class but for some reason when I tried to save it my computer froze up. Is this because the save feature is turned off for the trial version or was it just my computer? If I can't save using the trial version than I wasted memory on my computer and a lot of my time downloading the trial version that isn't going to be very useful to me.

Sep 30, 2010I am trying to work with a flash application in windows CE.
the folder containing the files has several .swf files in it. We'll call two of them abc1.swf and abc2.swf.
I have created two html pages which when viewed on my PC open up either file and view it just fine.

However, when I copy the directory to my windows CE 6.0 R3 device, the page that opens abc2.swf shows correctly. But the page that is supposed to open abc1.swf just shows a blank white area.
I am pretty sure that the abc1.swf is only supposed to redirect to abc2.swf (or put within a frame) given it's 1kb size and the fact that I can see the text abc2.swf within it when opened in notepad.
I've been told that the flash player built into Windows CE 6.0 R3 is only capable of supporting flash v8 or less. I suspect that perhaps the issue with abc.swf could be that it was built with a newer version of flash such as v9 or v10.
Is there any way for me to tell which version of flash a given .swf file requires using only freely available tools? Or, does anyone have any other theories about what would cause abc1.swf to work on my PC but not on my windows CE device?

Jul 20, 2010my latest project is to create an interactive version of the map for the game, GTA: San Andreas. Here are some of the features I would like to add:(Images have been made as a quick demonstration - the real thing will use the map)URL...Zoomed out, selectable pieces of the map (like jigsaw pieces).The different "jigsaw" pieces of the map are based on the borderlines of where each town/village starts/ends.URL...When a region on the map is chosen, it zooms into the region, allowing the user to select a town/village within that region. This screen will have a "back" button on it to allow the user to go back to the whole map.URL...After choosing a town/village, the last screen appears, providing an image (screenshot from in-game) of the destination with information to the left or right of the image. This screen will also have a "back" button on it to allow the user to go back to the chosen region. The detail on the map will also show basic places that the player of the game would like to know, such as hospital locations, ammu-nation locations (gun shops) and safehouses.Once I have the basic version done, I plan on updating it by adding locations of other items, such as vehicles, collectables and weapons.
1) Is it possible to make oddly-shaped hotspots, which are interactable (clickable and what not)? I know you can make rectangular hotspots, but the borderlines of the towns and villages in the game aren't straight lines, and most require more than 4 lines to make the shape.
2) Is there any way I can learn the code that Flash uses? Just so I understand it a bit more, since I am using it for a two-year school project too, which goes towards my GCSEs next year. I would just like to get more familiar with Flash, and maybe the other programs, Illustrator and Fireworks. The only ones I know well are Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

Jun 22, 2011I've just purchased Adobe's Design Premium CS5 and installed it from the disk onto a brand new Dell XPS laptop running windows 7 home, 64 bit. Every program runs great except for Flash professional which will not open. The loading screen appears, and then I get a message that says:
"Adobe Flash cs5 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I reinstalled, no luck.

Dec 3, 2010I updated the flash library XML/SWF (chart library) to the latest version on my web application but the users still see the charts with the old library which is saved in there browser cache.How can I force the browsers of my users to download the latest version of the SWF files.I can't add a parameter at the end of the SWF file like : charts.swf?v=1234.
If I do that I get an error because the chart library load dynamically other SWF files of the library. The charts.swf file will be the new version but the other files will still be from the older version and I will get an error...
