I have all of my files in version control (SVN subversion). FLA file is not a text file, so when I change it and check it in, there isn't a way to see what has changed inside of FLA.
Is there a way to keep track of changes to FLA file and it's contents?
i m using adobe flash cs3 with AS3 . I have updated my flash player in version 10 and it's activeX. But while I gonna publishing it , I do not get option of version Flash Version 10 in Flash Tab of File>Publish Settings. How, can I have option of Flash Player 10 ?
View 1 Repliesrecently, i upgraded to Flex Hero 4.5 and created a new workspace. Then, i imported a project from the former workspace and started working. when i tried to upload the project from the new workspace to codereview, i got the error message: could not guess version control system. Are you in a working copy directory? How does one resolve this issue? I have read somewhere that i need to checkout my svn but i thought that you only checkout when you want to get a folder/file from the svn.

I found properties that appear to have x and y location, stageX and stageY as well as localX and localY. View 7 RepliesI'm trying to do something I'm sure which is really basic and hope some wonderful person out their could spare me a few mins of time before I top myself. I have 8 buttons that appear after a very poor animation sequence which all link to different websites. I simply want to track in a .csv file what buttons people click, and if possible to wack a date and time stamp against when each button was clicked. I bet you're thinking this guys a complete fool for posting this but the last time I used Flash was version 4 and that was for basic banner animation. I don't have the foggy-ist about AS 2.0 or 3.0 and I've been reading I need to use .PHP script to pass the data out to the CSV file (SCARY for someone who see's code as gobble-de-gook).

View 2 RepliesI am trying to work with a flash application in windows CE.
the folder containing the files has several .swf files in it. We'll call two of them abc1.swf and abc2.swf.
I have created two html pages which when viewed on my PC open up either file and view it just fine.

However, when I copy the directory to my windows CE 6.0 R3 device, the page that opens abc2.swf shows correctly. But the page that is supposed to open abc1.swf just shows a blank white area.
I am pretty sure that the abc1.swf is only supposed to redirect to abc2.swf (or put within a frame) given it's 1kb size and the fact that I can see the text abc2.swf within it when opened in notepad.
I've been told that the flash player built into Windows CE 6.0 R3 is only capable of supporting flash v8 or less. I suspect that perhaps the issue with abc.swf could be that it was built with a newer version of flash such as v9 or v10.
Is there any way for me to tell which version of flash a given .swf file requires using only freely available tools? Or, does anyone have any other theories about what would cause abc1.swf to work on my PC but not on my windows CE device?
does anybody maybe know how to track/trace the current position of a sound file while it is playing?So that it is updated every frame or second?I figured something with trace(sound.position) onEnterFrame, but didn't succeed in realizing this yet.
View 1 Repliesthis is the first time i encounter this problem.. I had the problem where a file would not open correctly which was also addressed at this forum. But this one is different. this file was created (from what i remember) in Flash 8, then opened/saved in all possible flash versions for updates in time. While it will open just fine, it will not publish. The publish window with the percentage will open up for a split second, then it will close with no messages whatsoever, no actionscript errors, nothing. F12, the same thing again. No possible settings could solve this.
I am willing to send the file for testing of course, have tried to publish using Flash cs4 and Flash cs5. I thought of going back to Flash 8 by opening the file and saving to a previous version but as soon as i open the file in Flash cs3 (while the file has been saved as cs3) it will not open the file with an error message that i cannot remember right now.

I have files from a class that I took in 2D animation. There are things that I wanted to fix and finish, but the computers that we did the assignments on were macs. I no longer have access to a mac and my computer at home is a pc but whenever I go to open the file, a pop up tells me that its an unexpected file and will not open.

I am working on a flash file which i am hopeing to use for a project. I seem to be having a problem with the software. Everytime i make changes to the file and press CTRL + Return to test the moive, it comes up with errors. When i click on the errors to take me to the line of code with the error, it seems to be displaying code from a previous version of the same file which i deleted. When i delete the code and layers agin and then rewrtie the new code and add the new layers again Flash seems to stop responding for like 15 minutes. Once it does respond, i save the file and reopen it everthing seems fine but as soon as i press CTRL + Return the exact same thing happens.

View 6 RepliesI updated the flash library XML/SWF (chart library) to the latest version on my web application but the users still see the charts with the old library which is saved in there browser cache.How can I force the browsers of my users to download the latest version of the SWF files.I can't add a parameter at the end of the SWF file like : charts.swf?v=1234.
If I do that I get an error because the chart library load dynamically other SWF files of the library. The charts.swf file will be the new version but the other files will still be from the older version and I will get an error...

I can't make AS2 classes refresh when editing them, in other words, my FLA file doesn't grasp the last version when compiling, I have to shut/restart my flash program for that.

Basically, I am using Flex 3, for past 2-3 days whenever I launch any Project or debug it, I get the message box saying "Flex Builder requires a more recent version of Flash Player." It says my curent FP as 9.0.115.0 and debug version as 9.0.45.0. However, my actual FP version if FP 10.0.22.87. I don't understand why this confussion! I don't know how can I know my actual version of Debug player.
View 2 RepliesWe have create a flash file for both Touchscreen TV and Website.The document frame is is 1920x1080 however we would like to export the project so it can be seen on the website at the correct compression.Is there a way to export the SWF to the required 945x532.I know how to export it in the HTML however this reads the same SWF that is still too large in file size (not web friendly).I could pull the compression down to say 10% before exporting the SWF however there must be a better method.

View 1 RepliesI am working on a project which there are two .swf file play side by side simultaneously. I need to use one of the file to control the animation in another file.
If they are in same .swf it should be easy. I can just use:
gotoAndPlay("frameNumber")
but there are two .swf now. (lets say movieA and movieB) I think I should use something like:
"LinkToMovieB".gotoAndPlay("frameNumber")
"LinkToMovieB" should be the link to movie clip in the movieB file.
my problem is how do I get the link to movie B's movie clip. or there is other proper way to do this task.
