Why the same fla source code publish different size of swf file in different computer with same version of adobe flash which is cs4?1 is about 3mb only and the other is about 20mb.The different is too big!What can i do?

View 1 Repliesthis is the first time i encounter this problem.. I had the problem where a file would not open correctly which was also addressed at this forum. But this one is different. this file was created (from what i remember) in Flash 8, then opened/saved in all possible flash versions for updates in time. While it will open just fine, it will not publish. The publish window with the percentage will open up for a split second, then it will close with no messages whatsoever, no actionscript errors, nothing. F12, the same thing again. No possible settings could solve this.
I am willing to send the file for testing of course, have tried to publish using Flash cs4 and Flash cs5. I thought of going back to Flash 8 by opening the file and saving to a previous version but as soon as i open the file in Flash cs3 (while the file has been saved as cs3) it will not open the file with an error message that i cannot remember right now.

I've just got back to webbydesign and Flash after a long break! I'm bit concerned about the fact that many public computers do not have updated Flash player in their browsers and therefore can't show content designed with CS4 correctly, or at all!
I can't check this myself right now, but if I select ie. Flash version 8 in publish settings using Flash CS4, will this disable all version 10 functionality while designing my site? As far as i know, v10 supports 3D and whatnot fancies, that I don't need atleast for now.
I'm working on code in FlashDevelop and compiling into Flash CS5.5. I want to use the debugger and I've downloaded the stand alone Flash Player Debug Version from the Adobe site. So how do I launch to and test using the Debug Player?
View 3 RepliesWhat is the reason for the enormass bloating of FLA file size, when many edits and saves are made to a FLA file, yet assets are not being added to the library? What is the best technique to keep FLA files smaller in size? (with the problem described below. I am not talking about published SWF files or asset management)Over many edits and many saves of my FLA files, they become 30 times the size on disk from where they start out. Example 750k can get as high as 34mb. In the past "save and compact" used to fill the role of reducing FLA file sizes but now that feature is gone.When I save as a CS4 file then back to CS5 the file becomes much smaller after it has become bloated, BUT I take a risk every time I do this that the file will become corrupted (I've had corruptions happen).I have read that files which were created in CS5 and are never in the format of CS4 don't have this problem, but I find that theory unlikely since I have tried to follow this rule to no success.
I have also read that every FLA file tracks its "history" of assets. So adding and removing assets to the library will sometimes cause bloating because old assets that are removed from the library remain in the FLA file. This seems bogus because there is no purpose to this, but could be an indication of a bug in Adobe Flash Professional CS5, and CS5.5.Personal details: the files I am editing contain personally created flash components, images, audio, many symbols (20+) but no embedded video.For me personally, this bloating is a problem because I'm dealing with hundreds of flash FLA files that should be about 1-4mb in size but are instead much larger. The overall effect is that I end up with gigabytes of files instead of hundreds of mbs.
My swf file is rather large, so I tried changing the quality settings and the publish settings, but nothing I do seems to change the size of the final swf.

I was wondering if anybody could help me out and tell me why my flash site looks different on different size computer screens?
I have built a site in flash and when I preview in html it looks different to how it does on my flash canvas (the text is a different size and takes up a different amount of space than on the original flash document). Then when I publish it and make it live it looks different on different size screens. On my laptop the text all fits in, but when I view it on my desktop the text cuts off, so that the last few lines of each text box is missing? What's going on?

View 2 RepliesI'm having trouble with my computer and the latest version of Flash. What happens is that everytime i get in contact with a flash-based media on the internet (Youtube, banners, games, etc.) my computer freezes and after 15 seconds it starts 'melting', as in the pixels slowly turning blue and black. This happened right after i installed the latest version of Flash. I have to take the battery out of the computer to get it working, which is offcourse not healthy.
Does anybody have an idea what this is due to and how it can be fixed? I am pretty desperate.

View 8 RepliesMy ant buildfiles tell mxmlc.jar to recompile target mxml source. However, if the target mxml source file has not changed, either ant or mxmlc is ignoring the file and will not create a new swf. This is an annoyance because I'm editing files imported by the target mxml. I need it to rebuild when those files change. I'm guessing that the mxmlc is creating a cache file somewhere and comparing the target mxml (or maybe just a hash). Is this what is happening? What's the standard work-around? At the moment, I'm editing the target mxml just to cause a file change.

So if you are trying to install application and you have not installed Adobe Flash player yet, it automatically suggests you install Flash player. So by default this application needs version 10.2 so it tries to install it, but adobe blocks it, because it says that I am trying to install an old version of flash player, so how can I avoid this blocking, so I don't need to install the newest version of Flash player each time? How can I automatically install required version of Flash player?

View 1 RepliesI made a 'whiteboard' app. Originally it was for Flash Player 7 then I changed the Publish Settings to point to Flash Player 8. Worked fine for me, but caused problems with my customer, so I changed Publish Settings back to Player 7. When the customer opened up the .swf which I'd emailed him, it opened in Flash Player 6, even though he had the latest player installed. When he deleted the old V6 player the problem was fixed. So my question is, why did my .swf open Flash Player 6 - and therefore lose some of it's functionality - when the customer had a later player installed?

I downloaded and installed the latest Skype software today and noticed immediate problems. Skype was not responding and the Flash Player plugins on both browsers began crashing. I uninstalled both Skype and the Flash Player plugins. I then restarted my computer and reinstalled the Flash plugins. Functionality was restored to the Flash plugins in my browsers. I then reinstalled Skype. It was immediately non-functional and my Flash plugins started crashing again.I am now at the point where I have reinstalled the Flash plugins again and functionality is restored. I know if I try to install Skype, the Flash plugins will crash again.
