View 1 RepliesI came across a website recently that outputs a whole bunch of user info: IP, browser, OS, flash version, javascript, etc in a very easy to use format. It was specifically designed for remote support, in order to determine user operating environment. However, I cant recall the name of the website.

View 4 RepliesI want to download Adobe Flash CS3, where can I? This is most likely because my computer won't support the latest version.
View 1 RepliesI've seen two answers: Adobe Flash Detection Kit - Javascript detect flash version JavaScript routines only:[URL] Simple questions: are the detection algorithms, described above, identical and if not - which way is better? Will they work the same for desktop and mobile browsers (both iPhone/iPad and Android)?
View 1 RepliesI am trying to build a preloader that detects the user's Flash Player version, and then loads the matching content: if the user has Flash Player 11, Stage3D content should be loaded.
The problem I'm running into is that a preloader that is compiled for Flash Player 10 can't display Flash Player 11 content, even if it is running in Flash Player 11.
Is this true? Are there solutions other than detecting the player version in JavaScript?
Why the same fla source code publish different size of swf file in different computer with same version of adobe flash which is cs4?1 is about 3mb only and the other is about 20mb.The different is too big! What can i do?

how Pandora detects when your computer has been inactive for a certain period of time, without even being an active window. I can have it running the background for hours but the moment I walk away from my computer for a half an hour, the music stops.
View 2 RepliesI am using sifr 2.0.7 and here's the deal. The sifr is working (I can see it in the DOM) however, the font is wrong. It doesn't pick up my swf font (DIN) unless you have it installed on your computer? The css font style is: HelveticaNeue which is what the sifr seems to render if you don't have DIN installed.I see it on my computer but my friend see DIN.
View 1 RepliesI'm having trouble with my computer and the latest version of Flash. What happens is that everytime i get in contact with a flash-based media on the internet (Youtube, banners, games, etc.) my computer freezes and after 15 seconds it starts 'melting', as in the pixels slowly turning blue and black. This happened right after i installed the latest version of Flash. I have to take the battery out of the computer to get it working, which is offcourse not healthy.
Does anybody have an idea what this is due to and how it can be fixed? I am pretty desperate.
I'm considering making a Flex/AS3 based web application but worrying about some employers (i.e. potential customers) that don't have access to Flash plug in version 9 and up. Why? Maybe their corporate standard for browser is old; maybe they lock down employees computers which prevents users to download and install the plug-in or an alternate browser; maybe Flash's ubiquity goes away in the next 3 years given Adobe's recent announcements; etc.Anyway, my question is, would it be possible to insert a USB Flash drive into the client computer in question and run a Browser having flash (e.g. chrome) on the USB drive (assuming such a browser has already been installed on the USB drive), to access the web application with full functionality? I'm just trying to think of workarounds if my customer doesn't have flash plug-in and can't download to install it.
View 1 RepliesIs there a way to find out the total amount of available (free) RAM on a computer via the web browser or flash?
View 1 RepliesI would like to find out if there is a way for a message to pop up on my website if the user has Flash Player version lower than 10.1. If the version 10.1 or higher (in the future) no message should come up. The message should prompt a user to update to the Flash Player version 10.1. My entire site is in Flash and I am using AS3. So I am guessing I should implement an AS3 code on the first frame of the script layer. Does anyone know what would be this code?
View 9 RepliesI have embedded the calender (datefield and datechooser) control of flex in cfm. When my application page loads the calender (swf) gets loads only if we mouseover the placeholder. However the issue is only in machines which have the debugger flash version and works fine in release version.
View 1 RepliesAnybody have (or know a source for) an actionscript that will do all of the following:
1. Detect the broadband connection speed of a site visitor.
2. Detect the version of Flash Player they have.
3. Use above information to steer the visitor (seamlessly and unbeknownst to them) to the one of several versions (on a streaming server) of an flv'd video that is the most appropriate for their connection speed/player version combo?
Also, what range of kbps versions would cover *most* situations (e.g., 100, 300, & 450?)
I want to know the type and version the browser that the user is running from within my Flex 4 application. I know I can get that information by using ExternalInterface to call Javascript. I know I can get that information from the server. I'm looking for a way to get that information directly from actionscript. I mean, isn't there a global variable or something that keeps this information?
View 1 RepliesI updated the flash library XML/SWF (chart library) to the latest version on my web application but the users still see the charts with the old library which is saved in there browser cache. How can I force the browsers of my users to download the latest version of the SWF files.I can't add a parameter at the end of the SWF file like : charts.swf?v=1234.
If I do that I get an error because the chart library load dynamically other SWF files of the library. The charts.swf file will be the new version but the other files will still be from the older version and I will get an error...
This might be a simple question, but I'll ask it anyways. I know when I update my flash website I have to clear the cache to view the changes. Now, will all users have to do that to see the new changes, or will the browser eventually detect changes and download the new version?
View 1 RepliesI put a swf file on a website, then I made some changes and replace the old version. However, some browsers seem to have some kind of cache to remember the last swf file, they only show the old version instead of the new one. What can I do to stop the browser caching the old version?
View 9 Repliesis it possible if i have two versions of a flash file made, to have a redirect or detection that would choose the swf depending on what version of flash player the user has? so if they have flash five they get 5.swf and if they have flash 6 they get 6.swf
View 7 RepliesI frequently update my website. But customers do not see immediately the changes as the cache displays the previous version.

View 1 RepliesI am developing an application running in Flash Player. View 1 RepliesIn my Flash application, I would like a user to be able to import a picture from their hard drive. Basically, the app allows the user to customize an object. One of the steps of customization should be to add an image of their choice.
Is there a way in Flash to allow the user to pick a file from their hard drive, which is then read into memory and made accessible to an application? I would like to take the data and upload it to a server to store it for future sessions.
way to get the screen resolution of the user's computer by using any action script code.
View 2 RepliesI've made a Flash project which uses a lot of animations based on Actionscript, and I've checked that in old computers those animations have a low framerate. So in order to optimize it, I thought to disable some of them depending on the capabilities of the user's computer, but the only thing I've found which could be useful is the property System.totalMemory
Is there any way to calculate the user's CPU performance in order to act in consequence? In these cases, would it be useful to replace some vector graphics with bitmaps? If I'm not wrong it would make use of more memory but would lower CPU charge, wouldn't it?
I am looking for a way to record sound from a user's computer, then save the sound as a wav/mp3/swf/etc on a server.
