Flash - Force The Browser To Re-download The New Version Of A Swf File?
Dec 3, 2010
I updated the flash library XML/SWF (chart library) to the latest version on my web application but the users still see the charts with the old library which is saved in there browser cache.How can I force the browsers of my users to download the latest version of the SWF files.I can't add a parameter at the end of the SWF file like : charts.swf?v=1234.
If I do that I get an error because the chart library load dynamically other SWF files of the library. The charts.swf file will be the new version but the other files will still be from the older version and I will get an error...
This might be a simple question, but I'll ask it anyways. I know when I update my flash website I have to clear the cache to view the changes. Now, will all users have to do that to see the new changes, or will the browser eventually detect changes and download the new version?
I am creating a web site using Flash CS3 actionscript 2.0.I know how to but the one extra thing I need to do for this site is create a button that anyone looking at the site can click and it automatically downloads a zip file containing music. (it's a site for a band who want their fans to be able to download their music.)A lot of the information I am finding pertains to PHP, which I don't understand. As I use action script 2.0, I am not familiar with much code.[code]but I most be doing something wrong b/c an error always comes up when I check the code.Also, I make a button, give it an instance name, but I don't enter that anywhere in the action script.so I know something has to be wrong, b/c the only thing I do is create a zip file, name it and enter it in the action script.
I have make a post request to some url. Normally when this url is called from some html form, it opens a dialogue box to download excel file. But when I call this url from flash component, nothing happens. I have to force this excel file to be downloaded.
So I basically have used the fileReference class to allow the user to download a determined file if he wants to.
I use the file.download(URL) function and it works well.
However, the file is downloaded and saved to the hard drive using only the flash player. The browser is not aware of the download, and thus, if I want to show the progress of the download I'd have to make some progress bar myself. I know how to do it, but it would become really tedious and take too much UI space.
Isn't there a damn way in Flash to "send" a determined file to the browser so that it prompts the user to download it? It's an image file, so navigateToURL doesn't cut it since it will just display the image, both if I use a new tab or the current one.
When I deploy a new .swf file in an HTML file as shown below, I have to clear the browser cache before the new .swf file loads in the browser. Is there anyway to force the browser to load the .swf file when I replace it with a new one on the server.
I am trying to download mp3 file in my web application using FileReference object. It works fine in flash environment but does not work inside the browser environment.
i want to have force download functionality only with Flash AS3, is it possible ?? i tried google but failed. here it is my as3 code......
var file_URLRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest ("mp3gallery/" + url); var content_header:URLRequestHeader = new URLRequestHeader("Content-Type: application/force-download");
I make a swf for my site that includes dynamicly loading thumbnails from an xml file. Unfotunatly the browser ( IE and FF are what i have tried so far ) just takes the xml file from the clients browser cache even if i have changed the xml file on the server. So the only way my visitors will see my updated content, is if they clear their cache every time before they visit my site. ( even a ctrl-f5 does not seem to do the trick )
is there a function or something i can call to force the swf to re-download the xml file every time? (is really small, less that a kilobyte or two im sure.)
I would like to force a pdf to be saved to disc rather than opening in a browser window? I am actually executing the command in flash in a button instance like this
on (release) { getURL("http://website.com/pdfs/pdf_document.pdf", "_blank", "GET"); }
So how can I do this so it gives the pop up window of save to disc option?
I would like to update the swf player that I specify into FDT and what Flash IDE uses to play files, namely from Flash 10 to Flash 11 for Stage3d preview. How does one do this?
i m using adobe flash cs3 with AS3 . I have updated my flash player in version 10 and it's activeX. But while I gonna publishing it , I do not get option of version Flash Version 10 in Flash Tab of File>Publish Settings. How, can I have option of Flash Player 10 ?
I made a 'whiteboard' app. Originally it was for Flash Player 7 then I changed the Publish Settings to point to Flash Player 8. Worked fine for me, but caused problems with my customer, so I changed Publish Settings back to Player 7. When the customer opened up the .swf which I'd emailed him, it opened in Flash Player 6, even though he had the latest player installed. When he deleted the old V6 player the problem was fixed. So my question is, why did my .swf open Flash Player 6 - and therefore lose some of it's functionality - when the customer had a later player installed?
How do you force your movie to load a fresh version of xml each time it plays? Say the file I want to load is called "galleries.xml" and it gets updated often, what can I do to ensure flash loads the most recent version?
I do a lot of all Flash sites, and sometimes I have problems getting the latest update to show on everyone's machine because of temporary internet files. Is there a way to force people to re-download the SWF?
i have an mp3 player thats xml and i want to have a button the when clicked it downloads the current song playing. how to achieve this. I already have a lyrics button i think it would be something kinda similar but with download settings. the lyrics button jsut links you to another page. here's the code for it though
Is there way to get the browser to always load any swf files before everything else on a page (exept the external css and swfobject.js). Using Firebug's Net statistics I can see the swf files generally load last.
We have all our external js files inserted at the bottom of the page to help loading times.
Is there any way to make a full browser swf that, at a certain point, stops scaling to the stage and allows the browser to use it's native scrollbars? For example, say my flash site has a top bar (it's y is always 0) and a bottom bar (it's y might be stageHeight - 15). Is there any way to tell the movie to stop scaling if the bottom bar's y is less than say 300, and from that point have the browser display it's scrollbars allowing you to scroll the content?
I want to know the type and version the browser that the user is running from within my Flex 4 application. I know I can get that information by using ExternalInterface to call Javascript. I know I can get that information from the server. I'm looking for a way to get that information directly from actionscript. I mean, isn't there a global variable or something that keeps this information?
I put a swf file on a website, then I made some changes and replace the old version. However, some browsers seem to have some kind of cache to remember the last swf file, they only show the old version instead of the new one. What can I do to stop the browser caching the old version?
I've installed a swf banner on my site but only get either a white box that's the same dimensions as the swf should be or thisContent on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player.
Limelight, my CDN, require that I check my media files using flvcheck version 2.0. I have downloaded version 1.0 from the Adobe Downloads page, but can't find version 2.0.
The PHP file is ran with headers to force a download (from flash/as3 project), but it also pops up a blank page. Is there a way to close that after?I don't think users want blank page popups springing up.[code]
1,It is the pre-release ,i can't find it now. 2,I can download the Flash Builder 4.5 but i want to know how to import the Burrito's project? and which lib or Flex Build Path must i add? When i import the Burrito version projects use Flash Builder 4.5, it says "it can't find the 1017: The definition of base class MobileItemRenderer was not found. ItemRendererBase.as"
The http:[url].... has an incredibly slow search functionality. I use a greasemonkey search plugin that is much much faster and works with the standard style javadocs. Anyone have a link to the old version of the AS3 API docs that were of the standard style?
