Is there way to get the browser to always load any swf files before everything else on a page (exept the external css and swfobject.js). Using Firebug's Net statistics I can see the swf files generally load last.
We have all our external js files inserted at the bottom of the page to help loading times.
I updated the flash library XML/SWF (chart library) to the latest version on my web application but the users still see the charts with the old library which is saved in there browser cache.How can I force the browsers of my users to download the latest version of the SWF files.I can't add a parameter at the end of the SWF file like : charts.swf?v=1234.
If I do that I get an error because the chart library load dynamically other SWF files of the library. The charts.swf file will be the new version but the other files will still be from the older version and I will get an error...
Is there any way to make a full browser swf that, at a certain point, stops scaling to the stage and allows the browser to use it's native scrollbars? For example, say my flash site has a top bar (it's y is always 0) and a bottom bar (it's y might be stageHeight - 15). Is there any way to tell the movie to stop scaling if the bottom bar's y is less than say 300, and from that point have the browser display it's scrollbars allowing you to scroll the content?

View 3 RepliesWhen I deploy a new .swf file in an HTML file as shown below, I have to clear the browser cache before the new .swf file loads in the browser. Is there anyway to force the browser to load the .swf file when I replace it with a new one on the server.

I was wondering if anyone might know offhand why the images at this link: [URL] don't load properly the first time. Because after you let the browser load all of the images, then refresh the page, they load perfectly.

According to the answers to this question here, the reason why I'm not seeing errors as I work in Flash Builder is that FB is "optimizing" them out because they aren't referenced at any point in the code execution. Is there an option to force Flash Builder to compile all files regardless of whether they're used in the software?

I have been trying to figure out the best way to load content into a container on an .php page which has three different .swfs already loaded - one is an mp3 player which I do not want to stop playing (this will obviously happen on a page refresh). The objective is to keep a flash menu for navigation given it's nice animation capabilities, but load page content into a container underneath. There are JavaScript files out there that work in conjunction with php (ajax) to accomplish this, but once I throw flash into the mix everything goes sideways. I know you can include js with the ExternalInterface.call function, but this only solves the js portion not the php bit.
View 1 RepliesI building a C# application with a WebBrowser control in it and and I am trying to figure out a way to get the flash content within the web page to not display as it is sucking up a ton of my CPU and memory. I've been trying to remove the <object> tag within the page (there's only one) by getting it via browser.Document.GetElementsByTagName("object") and setting its outerHtml to an empty string. It returns one element (confirmed by the Count property) but accessing the first element ([0]) gives an index out of range error. I've tried doing it via a foreach loop but nothing happens at all and there are no errors. If I try to retrieve <div> elements instead of <object> elements, the foreach loop runs. Am I doing something wrong here, is there a bug, or is there a better way to remove the flash content?

EDIT: I just figured out that while the DocumentCompleted event is being called, it is being called before JavaScript injects the flash content onto the page. I've tried a few "sleeping"-like methods but they all stop the web page from processing too. Any way to wait for more time (5 seconds or so) while the webpage continues to render?
I have two differnt flash elements on a new webpage we are working on. One is simply animated flames on a logo, the other is a burning image transition script I just bought.

View 9 RepliesI'm attempting to put together a Flash site that fits the entire browser window no matter what the user sizes it to. I have searched here along with Google and can't seem to find a solution to my problem. I found a nice example on how to achieve it however it is missing one key aspect of what I need which has got me wondering whether or not what I'm looking to do is even possible.
My flash site has movie clips that will animate from off the stage on the right and bottom edges. What I want to have happen is in the browser window I want it to look like it comes from off-screen as well. So for example, you have a ball bounce in from off the right side of the screen into the center of the browser and then maybe it bounces down off the screen at the bottom of the browser.
The solution I have found fills the window and doesn't scale which is what I'm looking for, but any items that are off the stage in my Flash file will show in the browser if it is resized big enough. Here's the example I found[url]..
I have two external swf files which I need to load to the main page of the website, one is the about page which consist mostly of text, the other is an image gallery.Both of them have the same intro animation at the beginning.
My problem is, while testing the main page using bandwidth profiler, the about page loads beautifully, while the image gallery plays its animation first before it even finalizes to load the whole page.
Maybe you know how do easy turn page. Picture will be load into swf files and with turn page effect they change when some time will pass (sorry for my english)

Is this something you would do in Flash through Publish Settings or would this be accomplished in Dreamweaver?

Regardless of what I do IE doesn't seem to pick up the new content debugger version. I've tried uninstalling, tried installing an older version... All with no luck.

If I set the main app to horizontalScrollPolicy="on" verticalScrollPolicy="on" or to "auto", then as you scroll down, the iFrame is stuck to the top of the browser window and obscures the content.

I put the swf file on the server and tried to open it through internet to see how the preloader works, but the browser did not show the flash file at all before loading all frames! How I can force the browser to show the first frame "that contains the preloader movie" while loading other frames?

and I would like the link to open the new page in the same tab. In Safari it opens the link in a new window (when the default is to open links in the same tab). In IE it opens in a new tab, and also in Firefox (though in Firefox this is the default behaviour for me). Is there a way to override default settings and get the link to open in the same tab for all browsers?
I make a swf for my site that includes dynamicly loading thumbnails from an xml file. Unfotunatly the browser ( IE and FF are what i have tried so far ) just takes the xml file from the clients browser cache even if i have changed the xml file on the server. So the only way my visitors will see my updated content, is if they clear their cache every time before they visit my site. ( even a ctrl-f5 does not seem to do the trick )
is there a function or something i can call to force the swf to re-download the xml file every time? (is really small, less that a kilobyte or two im sure.)
Question: I have an swf that is 1024x1600 and is embedded in an html doc. I have content on the bottom of this swf that when clicked should force the browser to jump back to the top of the html doc containing the swf. This is simple to do with anchors and links in html, but is it possible with AS3?
View 3 RepliesI have a an unobtrusive flash video looping in the background of a website, it is not essential to navigation - it is purely cosmetic.The flash video loops every 30 seconds.As this video is on all pages, it jumps back to the start when a new page is loaded.Is there an actionscript / javascript way to get it to remember the position it got to on the old page so it can start there on the new page?I do know that this can be accomplished by loading the flash movie in a frame as well as by having the subsequent pages load the contents in AJAX but I was hoping not to go down this route.I have seen other people ask the question and allude to the solution but they only posted that they got it to work without saying how.

Instead of loading each page through HTML, ive decided i could do a seperate frame for each page. However, to reach the menu at the bottom, you have to scroll down. Is there any way to make it so that when you click a button to load a different page for the flash player to scroll up all the way to the top of the page itself?
