ActionScript 3.0 :: Clicked Should Force The Browser To Jump Back To The Top Of The Html Doc Containing The Swf
Jan 4, 2011
Question: I have an swf that is 1024x1600 and is embedded in an html doc. I have content on the bottom of this swf that when clicked should force the browser to jump back to the top of the html doc containing the swf. This is simple to do with anchors and links in html, but is it possible with AS3?
I have a tall web site that requires browser scrolling.When a button is clicked, the main movie is replaced by another, and unfortunately, the viewer isn't brought back to the top of the page.Here's the site: http:[url].....Scroll down, and click on the purple box that says "Knowledge & Experience."You will see my dilemma.how to make the browser scroll back to the top when a button is clicked?
I am brand new to scripting in Flash, and was hoping I could get some help on a question. I have an animation that is 300 frames long. The first 100 frames are an animated 'ad' (for lack of a better term), the second 100 frames are a different ad, and the third 100 frames are the last ad. This can be viewed straight from beginning to end (and is intended to loop if no action is taken), but I would also like to add some functionality to the animation, so that people can jump forward to the next ad, or back to the previous ad (hitting back from the first ad would take them to the third ad, and vice versa.)
[Code]...
This does not turn up any errors when I test the movie, but the functionality does not work. Am I anywhere near a working script, or am I attempting this in a completely wrong way?
I've got about 6 buttons laid out, one on top of the other in a list format. In their normal state the buttons are grey in colour, when I rollover them, the buttons flash and turn to orange. Now, what I need to happen is this: I want the buttons to stay orange once clicked and only roll out back to grey when the user has clicked on another button in the list. I've been told that the best way to do this is via adding a listener, however I am a little unsure as to how to go about this. I've checked the flash help file and have a basic understanding of how listeners work...but can't really wrap my head around applying it to this situation. Perhaps I will need to have all the buttons as separate broadcasters?
I've made a nav bar using buttons, and have them working just fine for Up, Over, Down, and Hit. (okay, so hit isn't a state, but I'll count it is as the fourth one)Problem is, once clicked on and produces a change in the flash, I want the button to not return to the Up state, but to visually be different so you can tell you are in that section.First problem is I can't for the life of me think of what that state is called. (Makes it hard to search for, and my poor little brain is fried right now.)Second problem is, can I force a button to not go back to up state? (either the over or down state would work fine).Or do I have to detect the click and then make a call to swap out the button file for the relevant section?
im working on an image gallery, its the one from kirupa (photogallery) the nextImage() function stops working when it has reached the last picture, but once it has reached the last picture and the user clicks 'next' i want it to start at the beginning again.
must be something like if (p == (total)) { p = 0;
Here is the current code.
function nextImage() { if (p<(total-1)) { p++; if (loaded == filesize) {
I have a Flash website with 3 interfaces( 3 frames with movie clips inside). they have a button that goes to different loaded .html page(text). But once the back button is pushed on the web browser, it always goes back to the first frame instead of the actual last page, which might have been frame 2 or 3.
I have many buttons in a few movie files, i need to select a few of these buttons and store them in an array so i use....
var twocolourbuttons:Array = ["mybutton1", "mybutton23", "mybutton34"];
I then need to show a movie file if the button that has been clicked on is in the array. so something like...
if e.target.name is in the array show the movie twocolor.visible = true;
i then need to go to a certain frame of the movie, depending upon where the button is found in the array. So if the button is at position three of the array, i need to jump to keyframe 3 of my movie.
I compiled two swfs into a single exe using a converter. Both swfs have the same 5 tabs for the 5 sections of my presentation. Swf A has all the stuff for the first 4 tabs, Swf B has the stuff for tab 5. When I start the exe & navigate all around in the first 4 tabs & their sub-sections, everything's fine. I can also click on tab 5 & the Swf B stuff starts playing right away & I can navigate all around in there.
BUT... After I've been clicking on the tab 5 stuff, if I click on any of the 4 tabs from Swf A it kicks me all the way back to the intro animation at the start of Swf A. What I need is to have it go to the first frame for each of those tabbed sections. (e.g. frame 5, 38, 93,...) I did gotoMovie & then gotoAndPlay & the frame number, but it sends me back to frame 1 anyway. How do I get it to go to the frame I want? This is in AS 2, by the way...
I have two embedded flv's in the timeline, one after the other. There are no errors in the video files. When the "playhead" in the exported swf comes to the end of the two combined videoclips, it jumps back to the first frame of the 2nd video clip for a fraction of a second, before playing from the start of the timeline as it is supposed to. I have explicitly done a "gotoandplay(1) in a separate action layer, at the last frame of the "movie", but that's not what happens.
so i have a main timeline and a nested one. the main timeline has a button named "how_btn" that plays the nested mc (named "how"). once i get into playing "how", i have a button named "menu" that i want to bring the user back to the main timeline (where the "how" button is). this is how i scripted:
how_btn.onRelease = function () { gotoAndStop("how"); } menu_btn.onRelease = function () { gotoAndStop("nav"); }
the how button script works, however the menu button does not. is this b/c it's in a nested mc? i tried specifying the root, but that didn't do it either.
When landing on a certain frame, I'm trying to make a MC jump randomly either forward or back ONE frame in the timeline. Can't get random(whatever); to cooperate.
I have a HTML stageholder, this calls a "mainMenu.swf" which essentially controls my site. This "mainMenu.swf" has three buttons: intro, portfolio and contact which are all individual movies. So far, all good... When I have clicked into the portfolio section a 3x3 grid loads with nine buttons, one of these buttons loads a preview page for four movies, when I load one of these movies it plays fine. What is the path to get the loadMovie command to jump back to the 3x3 grid page from this movie? Basically, what is the command to jump up a directory when using loadMovie?
I'm using an iFrame in a Flex 3 project. The problem is that if the user opens my site in a small browser window, they don't get scrollbars. How can I solve this problem? Is there a way to force the browser to put up scrollbars?
If I set the main app to horizontalScrollPolicy="on" verticalScrollPolicy="on" or to "auto", then as you scroll down, the iFrame is stuck to the top of the browser window and obscures the content.
how to constrain the proportions of a flash site so that when a browser window is resized the swf resizes to fit?Is it actionscript needed in the fla or some html in my dreamweaver file? [URL]
I updated the flash library XML/SWF (chart library) to the latest version on my web application but the users still see the charts with the old library which is saved in there browser cache.How can I force the browsers of my users to download the latest version of the SWF files.I can't add a parameter at the end of the SWF file like : charts.swf?v=1234.
If I do that I get an error because the chart library load dynamically other SWF files of the library. The charts.swf file will be the new version but the other files will still be from the older version and I will get an error...
I made a flash movie and I put a preloade in the first frame with the appropriate actionscript codes: ifFrameLoaded("146"){ gotoAndPlay(2); } I put the swf file on the server and tried to open it through internet to see how the preloader works, but the browser did not show the flash file at all before loading all frames! How I can force the browser to show the first frame "that contains the preloader movie" while loading other frames?
Is there way to get the browser to always load any swf files before everything else on a page (exept the external css and swfobject.js). Using Firebug's Net statistics I can see the swf files generally load last.
We have all our external js files inserted at the bottom of the page to help loading times.
I make a swf for my site that includes dynamicly loading thumbnails from an xml file. Unfotunatly the browser ( IE and FF are what i have tried so far ) just takes the xml file from the clients browser cache even if i have changed the xml file on the server. So the only way my visitors will see my updated content, is if they clear their cache every time before they visit my site. ( even a ctrl-f5 does not seem to do the trick )
is there a function or something i can call to force the swf to re-download the xml file every time? (is really small, less that a kilobyte or two im sure.)
Is there any way to make a full browser swf that, at a certain point, stops scaling to the stage and allows the browser to use it's native scrollbars? For example, say my flash site has a top bar (it's y is always 0) and a bottom bar (it's y might be stageHeight - 15). Is there any way to tell the movie to stop scaling if the bottom bar's y is less than say 300, and from that point have the browser display it's scrollbars allowing you to scroll the content?
I want to have a flash movie on my web page, it will have some buttons with animations. Is there posiblle to jump somewhere in the same web page (anchor) if I press button in flash. How can I make button like that.
I have this code written for a game im making, but the problem is that the function 'jump' is only run when the mouse is clicked over the movie clip "grape1"
Code: var MyArray = new Array this.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, keepRunning); this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, jump);[code]...
I would like to force a pdf to be saved to disc rather than opening in a browser window? I am actually executing the command in flash in a button instance like this
on (release) { getURL("http://website.com/pdfs/pdf_document.pdf", "_blank", "GET"); }
So how can I do this so it gives the pop up window of save to disc option?
I'm trying to use a button in Flash to jump to an anchor at the bottom of my php page. The swf is in a php pagetop include and the anchor is in a php pagebottom include. The code is:
btnNewsletter.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickHandlerContact); function clickHandlerNewsletter(event:MouseEvent):void { if(event.target == btnNewsletter) {
basically im making an image gallery this is what ive done so far imported all of my images that i wanted to use and converted them to movie clips ive put these movie clips in another movie clip which is masked with an instance name of master_mcthe images are placed on top of each other so it looks like a stack of photos what i want to do is when the user clicks the image on the top it should send it to the back of the stack of images and continue to do this for all photos
When I deploy a new .swf file in an HTML file as shown below, I have to clear the browser cache before the new .swf file loads in the browser. Is there anyway to force the browser to load the .swf file when I replace it with a new one on the server.
Using Flash 10, I'm looking for a way to bypass the normal behaviour of images in HTML text, where the images can only float (in CSS terms) to the left or right with text wrapping around them.
Take the following code (where Squiggle is a 100x100 symbol):
ActionScript Code: var html:XML = <xml> <img src="Squiggle" id="squiggle" /> <p>This is some pretty amazing text, ya'll!</p> </xml>;
I have a webpage that has two sections, vertically. First the flash swf, then immediately below a comments section. The swf uses all of the screen space, so visitors do not know there is a comments section on the webpage, unless they scroll the page down.In order to call visitor's attention to the comments section, I inserted in the swf a button that would make the webpage scroll down to the comments section, in the same fashion as the HTML code:[code]
