Using Flash 10, I'm looking for a way to bypass the normal behaviour of images in HTML text, where the images can only float (in CSS terms) to the left or right with text wrapping around them.
Take the following code (where Squiggle is a 100x100 symbol):

I have an input field in which I am sending the text out of flash and up to my server. I wanted to read the input field text then apply html tags around it. Unfortunately, my technique is not working correctly as it does not read the input field but it does change the format. I think I am escaping it incorrectly [code]...

View 1 RepliesTo display HTML formatted text in an AdvancedDataColumn, I'm using a custom renderer which is an mx:Text object. I'm setting myText.htmlText to something like "test text which is really a lot longer than the column width". No matter what properties I set though, the text just runs off the end of the column. I tried wordWrap="true" on the dataGrid and also on each individual column. I also tried messing with css and tried applying it to the text field, but nothing seems to show up. Any Way to wrap htmlText in a text object? Also, but slightly less important, there are extra blank lines after each tag which I would like to get rid of.

The problem is that text is being wrapped around an image. How can I get the text to be displayed under the inserted image?
There are panorama viewers available in flash that basically just scroll a flat image from side to side like this: [URL]. I was wondering about the possibilities of a flash viewer that would also warp an image so that you could view a 360 image and then be able to look straight up and down also since the image is mapped to the inside of sphere. Here is an example in a java viewer that warps the image: [URL]. I can create a shockwave 3d pano using director but I would like to have a flash viewer. It must be hard or impossible since I have not seen one available yet in flash.
View 2 RepliesSomething that has always bothered me, wrapping text around images. Now in the past I always just used line breaks to wrap the text around images in a static and dynamic text field.
I haven't really had much experience with using HTML formatted text in dynamic text fields but I am told in can wrap text around image, is this true? And if so I am imagining the image would have to be external to the flash file and inserted using an <img srce> tag.
Was looking around for perhaps a simpler way of doing it and came across "Text Layout Framework" from Adobe. After reading into it, seems that it will wrap the text around in dynamic text fields through use of extensions and components (plus a whole stash of other features.) Would this assumption be correct?
And is there any support for text to wrap around images in static text fields

I'd like to combobox to stay a set width and therefore wrap text lines that are longer than the width. Currently it's just cutting off the text.

I'm using FB4.6 and constructing a variable sized DataGrid in actionscript. I need the text to wrap in the header (actually every cell) of a datagrid. I can find examples of doing it in mxml but not programatically.
View 0 RepliesI am having this weird problem when I load an XML document.The last part of the text doesn't 'wrap', if that is the proper english expression; the lines don't go to the next line they just get lost. You can see what I mean in this link, by clicking on the Kaiser Chiefs item/photo/text, and then scroll down in the article. However, when you go back to home and do it again, the text looks allright! But that is too late of course.

I am trying to create textfields on the fly that wrap the text they contain. I am using the following code but it is not working well. The text within the textfield is low and some of it is cut off.(Easy to see if I put a border around the textfield.) What's my bext solution to create a textfield which perfectly fits the text it contains.

Question: I have an swf that is 1024x1600 and is embedded in an html doc. I have content on the bottom of this swf that when clicked should force the browser to jump back to the top of the html doc containing the swf. This is simple to do with anchors and links in html, but is it possible with AS3?
View 3 RepliesI would need to float an image (which will be the same height as one line of text) in a dynamic textield, and when the textfield is resized, the image should follow like its part of the text.(red picture is the image)Putting and img tag inside htmlText doesnt do anything.The best I could think so far (using TextLineMetrics or similar) is to leave a space, (or these dots (......) so that text doesnt collapse), and calculate where the last word before these dots is exactly from the top left of the textfield and place a movieclip on this position.
