I need to validate an uploaded SWF to ensure it meets certain Flash and ActionScript version limitations. Anyone know a good Python library to parse metadata out of a SWF?

I identify my current installed debug version? Basically, I am using Flex 3, for past 2-3 days whenever I launch any Project or debug it, I get the message box saying "Flex Builder requires a more recent version of Flash Player." It says my curent FP as 9.0.115.0 and debug version as 9.0.45.0. However, my actual FP version if FP 10.0.22.87. I don't understand why this confussion! I don't know how can I know my actual version of Debug player.

View 3 RepliesI love django, and I like flex. Django for it's cool debugging system (those yellow pages helps a lot to find bugs in my code), and flex for it possibilities. Recently I come across a problem. If I create a form in flex and then communicate with the django server, I can't see any debugging info (when the exception happens in django). Not sure, if there is a way to get the debugging info, because it is not accessible in command line (no error output), or in firebug.... Also I tried to create a quick html form, and post same data as I send from flex form, but it's a bit of pain to be honest. Will be happy to listen how do you solve the problem

However, they need to be able to determine the AS setting on the swfs. Is there a tool (preferably cheap or even free) that can be used to determine the Actionscript level of a swf?

View 1 RepliesMy artist just upgraded to Flash CS5, and ended up with Flash CS5.5. I've got Flash CS5, and can't read his files. "The document 'blahblahblah.fla' was created with 'Adobe Flash Professional CS5.5' and cannot be opened in this version of Flash." Did Adobe really bollix up the normal convention of software version numbering(#.001 - #.999 signifies compatibility) or is there something else going on?

I have it publishing to flash 8, actionscript 2. but it will only work with browsers that have 10.1+ plugins, no matter what I try. is there something really obvious that I'm missing? the folder containing the files has several .swf files in it. We'll call two of them abc1.swf and abc2.swf.
I have created two html pages which when viewed on my PC open up either file and view it just fine.

However, when I copy the directory to my windows CE 6.0 R3 device, the page that opens abc2.swf shows correctly. But the page that is supposed to open abc1.swf just shows a blank white area.
I am pretty sure that the abc1.swf is only supposed to redirect to abc2.swf (or put within a frame) given it's 1kb size and the fact that I can see the text abc2.swf within it when opened in notepad.
I've been told that the flash player built into Windows CE 6.0 R3 is only capable of supporting flash v8 or less. I suspect that perhaps the issue with abc.swf could be that it was built with a newer version of flash such as v9 or v10.
Is there any way for me to tell which version of flash a given .swf file requires using only freely available tools? Or, does anyone have any other theories about what would cause abc1.swf to work on my PC but not on my windows CE device?
