ActionScript 3.0 :: Random Numbers Display On Subsequent Frames?
Sep 16, 2011
Here is my code to create a string like this:1-xxxxxxxxxx (where x is a random number)I'd like to display this number on subsequent frames using the same dynamic test field (feedback_txt).How would I create a variable which would hold the random number? How would I display the code on the subsequent frame so the string would display?
var myNum1:Number = Math.round(Math.random()*9);
var myNum2:Number = Math.round(Math.random()*9);
var myNum3:Number = Math.round(Math.random()*9);
[code].....

I'm encoutering something pretty weird. My framerate is set to 60 and I have a function that listens to enterFrame events and calls getTimer() to calculate the time between steps. That usually works nicely, however when I run the swf in flash player 10.3 or 11 standalones, the time delta is detected for many steps as being '0' because getTimer() returns exactly the same thing as on the previous step. The flash movie as such doesn't skip frames (except it looks bad since everything moves according to the time delta) and the framerate is 60 as it should (EDIT: Not actually true, 0 ms frames are skipped). It doesn't even happen every time. Sometimes I run it with the aforementionned players and it's just fine, apparently for no reason. I have tried the debug and release players and the problem happens with both.I'm targeting flash player 10.0 and it works well with that standalone player, as it does with 10.1. Not targeting 10.3 might be part of the problem I guess, but I have no idea really. At any rate, I was wondering if anyone else encountered that problem before, and hopefully would know the cause. I have found nothing about it on the web so far.Technical info: I'm using flashDevelop 3.3.2 and the Flex 4.1 open source sdk
EDIT: It would seem it's not a getTimer problem. The time delta between frames is reported correctly but faulty frames do last 0ms.

I have recently had the idea to create a lottery draw, the code below will create 7 randomly selected numbers and place these in the output window.My problem is how to use the 7 random numbers to display the corresponding lottoball on the stage.Should I create a movie for each lootoball or place all the lottoballs in 1 movie on seperate frames and have code goto each frame?
pickfrom = new Array();
winlist = new Array();
all = 49;//49 lottoballs the choose from[code].....

how to do this and not found much, so here goes:
I want to generate a variable number of random numbers less than 16 with no duplicate numbers
Ive posted the fla, and what i'm doing is generating a random number and putting it into an array then using a for loop to cycle through the array for each new random number to check if its already there. if it is, then i want to regenerate that number.
if you test the fla you'll see that all i get in my array is some lovely zero's and i sort of know why this is, but don't know how to stop it.

I am generating random numbers between two numbers by the code bellow:
ActionScript Code:
public function randomRange(max:Number, min:Number = 0):Number
{
return Math.round(Math.random() * (1+max - min) + min);
}
trace(randomRange(3,-31));
But I need a code which will return some times '3' and some times '-31'. Not the number between them.

Making a random number between lets say 0 and 99 is relatively straight forward using the Math.random class What is the best way to create 100 unique random numbers from between 0 and 99 where no random number is repeated?Would I make a random number, chuck it into an array then the next random number created is checked against the array, and if the number has been created before try for another number?

I'm having a problem that is kind of hard to explain. I have a player character on the stage and a player class controlling the character. He moves right responding the the keyboard input fine, but when he moves left, the character has to face right for one sequence during the animation. There is no faceleft position in any of the numbers representing frames in the array controlling the walk left animation so I don't know why the player character is doing this. Here's some of the code I am using.[code]

I need to generate random numbers between 1 and 20 with a heavy emphasis on the one between 1 and 5, a light emphasis on 5-10, and a low emphasis on 10-20. I don't understand all the fancy probability words and all the stuff they say in the articles I've come across.

Basically what I need to do is I'm populating a library with a for loop with specific clips that need to be in a random order but never duplicates.So basically, it get selects a random number between 1-6 and if that number hasn't been selected yet, it will run it will use it as my integer in my for loop then continue running the loop until numbers 1-6 have all been used, but never used twice.

I have a custom slideshow that I've made that has a set of four images changing every 5 seconds. The images are randomly selected by a random number between 0 and the length of my XML.
how can I get four unique random numbers - i.e., getting 1, 4, 6, and 8 rather than 1, 4, 6, and 6?
So once a random number is selected, it can't be selected again.

I need some actionscript that will give me a random number between -50 and 50. Been looking at it for a while now.
The main thing is, I need to create a random value which could be a neg or a positive number, on every frame. So far I can create a random value, but can't get it to be neg one frame and positive the next.

I was wondering if anyone out there can point me to a forumla for generating random numbers that are weighted within a specific range.I need to generate random numbers between 1 and 100. However, I'd like the most of them to cluster between 1 and 30, with proportionaly less chance of them occuring above 30.
