I have to develop an iOS application able to read "news" by an existent mySql DB on my customer's web site.Is there a way to do this in AS3? I didn't wrote that DB, but I've got these informations:

I never used DBs in my personal works, then I don't know how to implement my code to communicate (read only) with my customer's web site database.

When I print the php variable on my php page it outputs the field, but when I try to send it to flash it doesn't output anything.Here is my php script that tries to send a mysql field to flash and there nothing is shown. It works on my php page, it outputs the mysql field.

im trying to read values from a mysql database into different textboxes but as at now all the textboxes are filled with the same thing which is the first item of the database. I have a page (MovieClip) which is charger and have a attribut a matrix (not the class). On this page, there is some cases (MovieClip) which receive value of the matrix.
Each cases are managed by Class. It's a good option, because I can put a listener into the contructor of the class and not having 64 functions if I have 64 cases. This listener allows to change the value of the cases when it clicked.
The problem is that I don't see how to know when a case is clicked in the page for changing the value of the matrix.
For my work I have to introduce a Print button that will prints everything that is in the cart. However, I never did anything of that sort in Flash,.For now, I did a bit of research about how to do it and I do understand I'll have to use PrintJob with another MovieClip... but I need a bit of explanations about a few things.
First, in the cart (which can be printed), there are several "items" that have the same informations, such as the name, the price, comments, etc.Do I have to create one MC that contains informations on one row and add it to the AddPage of PrintJob (I will have 5 MC [5 pages] if I have 5 items in cart), or add all the items into the same MC?
Also, the flash is horizontal (1920x1280). Do I have to change the orientation of the PrintJob to print in landscape? Plus, how to know if the text is far enought of the margins? Do I have to consider the margins in the MC and thus puts a good distance between the borders of the MC and my content?
Adding a "page" to the PrintJob, how does it work? Is it a real "paper page"? I hope you understand what I mean by that, I can give more details if needed but I can't give the source (.fla).

I have a typical Flex-based application that was written to use a Java/Hibernate/MySQL backend. The client changed the requirements - now they want to distribute it on a CD where the user can just run the app without any installation or a network connection.
To do this, I certainly need to eliminate the web server and the database server and adapt my application (with as few changes as possible, of course) to a stand-alone application that will fit on a CD/DVD. I've managed to export the data to XML and read it into Flex, but I'm wondering if there's a way to recreate the Hibernate data structures in Flex so I could change as little code as possible. Failing that, is there any way to keep the existing Java/Hibernate external to the Flex code but retrievable without installing Apache Tomcat or MySQL?

I have the proper tables setup because you can test the entries by going here.url...You will see 3 different entries with text, date, time etc ..How I have a very very basic flash movie calling this data. View 1 Repliesok I have amfphp returning a query that is a Date data type in side of mysql. It is in this format "2007-27-5" which is a string. When making a date object in flash you need some thing like this

As it would look now I need to take that string and have a regular expression pull the sub-strings ("2007", "5", "27") out and some how convert the sub-strings in to a numbers (2007, 5, 27), then set vars with the number latter sending it to that date constructor.
I'm running into a problem with a login and password screen through Flash. It connects to MySQL database to check if the username and pass are correct. Well, when I test it and click submit it just sits there and says in the status bar of the browser, URL...I believe that the PHP and MySQL part of this project are working correctly and just want to see if anybody notices anything wrong with the AS code calling for the PHP that's in the swf:[code]

I have a login.swf, a login.as, login.php, and newAccount.php all in the same directory folder.
