ActionScript 3.0 :: Rotating A Text Field Using Matrix Object?
Oct 2, 2010
I have a question concerning the use of the matrix objecThe following code works well to rotate the sprite from its center if its x and y properties don't change.However, if I drag and drop the clip somewhere else after having rotated it, and then add a new rotation, it keeps rotating from the previous rotation point. Even if I add point =new oint(myspr.x+myspr.width/2, myspr.y+myspr.height/2); in a function that is called at the end of the drag and drop, the rotation point remains the same.So,how to update the position of the matrix rotation point if the x and the y of the clip change on the scene after a rotation?
Code:
var myspr=new Sprite();myspr.x=100;myspr.y=100;addChild (myspr);var point:Point=new Point(myspr.x+myspr.width/2, myspr.y+myspr.height/2);rotateAroundCenter(myspr,45);
I Have also povided the dragging feature so that one can drag the text field. The problem is when i rotate the text field say 45 degrees and then i drag it to other position now if i rotate the text field again it is not rotating about its center or origin, it rotates about some other point that is calculated by the same method ---mc.x+ mc.width / 2,mc.y+ mc.height
I have a slider which I want to use to rotate an image around it's center. This normally is easy but my problem is the clip is made dynamically and the size changes so I can't use the default registration point and I need to assign the center point before I rotate it. I found the rotateAroundExternalPoint function which rotates around a center point fine. How to get it to rotate to a certain angle and then have it stop at that angle. The rotateAroundExternalPoint increments the rotation rather then allowing me to set the angle to rotate to. Is there anyway that I can set what angle to rotate my clip to? It right now increments the rotation by the x coordinate of my slider bar (slider_position.x).
Code: import flash.geom.Matrix; import fl.motion.*; var mat:Matrix = clip.transform.matrix; addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,EnterFrame3); function EnterFrame3(event:Event) { var center_point_x = clip.height / 2 var center_point_y = clip.width / 2 // MatrixTransformer.rotateAroundExternalPoint(mat,center_point_x,center_point_y,slider_position.x); clip.transform.matrix = mat; }
Is it possible to create gradient text with text in a text field, without using a different object?
I have three text fields sitting right next to each other, to create a row. Some times the text is longer than the width of the text field, I don't want to widen the the text field to make it fit, I just want to fade the last 20 - 50 pixels of the text out.
Is this possible to do without using an object above it, such as a gradient?
I am loading txt data with data load event handler. When the data is loaded, I want to pass certain data to different object text fields. This is what I would like to do, but does not work.
Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.
Most often, questions are asked about how to scale a DisplayObject, and the answer is usually to use a Matrix.
My question is, how to you GET the scale of a Matrix (scaleX and scaleY)?
There's a Matrix.scale method to set the scaleX and scaleY, but it doesn't return a value, and no other properties exist to read it back.
The reason I ask, I'm using object burried deep down into a Display list, and each may be transformed. So I use the child object's sprite.transform.concatenatedMatrix getter, but am stuck at this point on how to read the scale from it.
All I want to do is add text from my string to dynamic text field when I click dynamic buttons. What should the as code be for this? Here is my code. Right now I just have the click returning another shape.
way to convert an email address once entered in a textfield as an object like shown in this image on MS office outlook ;
the point is that now in outlook as my cursor is positioned just after "user2@gmail.com" if I click backspace I will delete the entire email address, as if it was one object and not simple text entered.
I've got a dynamic text field in my button object. I have named the text field "myText". How can I modify the text within it? myButton.myText.text = "test"; won't work, because it can't access myText.
I have an odd problem in CS4/AS3 with one of my flash files where text is incorrectly rendered if the movieclip containing the text has a 3d matrix transform and quality is set to medium or low. It is easy to reproduce:
i want to assign a transform matrix to an object, but i want to assign the values myself (as in, no 'rotate, scale etc'), but for example, set a matrix like
[Code]...
which if applied, would have no effect, but would be valid (actually not exactly that matrix, but you get the idea). i want to set the values of the matrix and the object should be affected by those values that i set by myself, no scale rotate or any predefined operations. how can i set my own matrix?
Is it possible to login through flash using one Dynamic Text Field and one Input Text Field and no buttons? If so how? I have seen many tutorials dealing with logging in to PHP using flash but it requires you to make your own php scripts which i am not familiar with. Can some one tell me how to do this with PHPBBs existing php scripts... I want to be able to login thorugh a Input Text Field box and have it verify it in PHP and also be able to register and view other PHP info such as users online and FAQ..
Has anyone here ever developed a function (or general library of relevant functions) that will allow one to find the inverse of a matrix? I've searched the forum archives, as well as the internet more generally, but haven't found anything. If anyone has some leads, I hope you'll pass them along.
If I don't hear anything within the next few days, I might try to develop something on my own, but I'd hate to do so if someone has already done the dirty work.
A solution to this problem would be very useful for 3-D work or anyone doing mathematical programming more generally.
I'm making a calculator using Flash MX that works the same way as the basic calculator found on windows (not the scientific one). But having the user input a number, store it as a variable, store which function the user wants to perform and clear the text field then store the new input in the same text field as a different variable and multiply or add or divide or subtract the 2 numbers and getting the equals sign to display the answer when clicked is harder than I thought it would be.
i am currently having trouble with my object rotating to face another object.currently it works fine as in this picture, my object at the origin will be able to rotate and move to the object in the 3 quadrants except the quadrant with positive 90degrees to 180 degrees, my object will rotate a few full rotation for some time while moving to the object does anyone know why? the sentence that i use to rotate is rotation += (foodLocationDegrees - (rotation - 90)) * .2; whereby food is calculated using
I am working on a project where I need an interactive matrix of 500x500 clickable elements. I thought this would be an easy task in actionscript3 but boy was I wrong. I was able to create a matrix where each element was a Sprite object with attached Mouse click event. But here the performance problems begin. FlashPlayer10 can handle up to 100x100 matrix, but when I increase my matrix I start getting script timeout in browser player... Here is how my "unfinished" matrix looks like.So how should I approach this problem? I was hoping flash will be able to handle so many elements, but I guess I was wrong. I want to have a pan control to pan around for objects off screen and of course zoom in/out control.It's true I'm not very professional in Flahs and actionscript but a friend who is told me this would be no problem implementing in AS3? I need this in flash as the thing needs to be hosted on website.
Background: Sorry for the complex title, but can't think of a better way to describe this. So I have an image which is constantly moving and rotating (using matrix rotation around a specific point) on the stage. Problem: So I'm looking for a way that, when the user presses a button, a smaller image (exactly the same as the original one, only 3 times smaller) to position itself so that the smaller image's location is proportional to the the larger one's location. This means that the exact point of the larger image where it is rotating should be the corresponding part of the smaller image, thereby causing a kind of zoom out effect.
The truth is, I'm finding it even difficult to match just the x and y positions so they correspond, ignoring rotation, assuming the position is relative to the rotation point. Even this would be useful.
I found the function: rotateAroundExternalPoint(m:Matrix, x:Number, y:Number, angleDegrees:Number) to rotate an object around an external point. The top of the object will always point at the center point which is exactly what I want.
It works fine but its possible to rotate it in an oval instead of in a perfect circle...I think it should be something with the angleDegrees Parameter but im not sure what to do with it. I also tried to set up an own matrix but I failed. Any right direction to orbit an object in an oval, and where the top of the object always point at the rotation center?
I've been working on an FXG Editor, and I'm using the the senocular transform tool to move, rotate, scale and skew an object.
Is it possible to detect if the the Display object has been skewed just from inspecting the matrix of that DisplayObject? even if said object has been move, scaled and rotated as well.
I want to only serialize the matrix of an object to FXG if has been skewed and not if it has just been rotated, moved, or scaled.
I am working on a file that has a rotating dial, and I'd like the dial to reveal contents of a text field (a link) as the dial points in the direction of the text field. I have 4 text fields located at 90, 180, 270 and 360 degrees (top, bottom, left and right). I have it controlled via AS, so I've got all the Math but I was hoping someone might know how to reveal the links when the arrow (in the dial) is pointing in these directions.I set up a text field for testing, which shows the degrees, but I'm getting 'NaN' in the field (problems with Theta and converting degrees to Radians, I think). I thought this might help me figure out how to reveal those links, if I can get the NaN to work.Currently, the file is rotating with an onPress, but I'm going to convert it to a mouse follow, instead, so the user only has to float around to see the links.
how can i grab an object and rotate it with an object which is on it rotating [meaning that the second object is on the same possition on the first object?] can i make it being horizontal all the time?
my problem is that if i scale, rotate or translate a display object using its transform.matrix i am not getting the value in the display object but the transform is happening like displayObject.scaleX or displayObject.scaleY etc. i get this new transform value using the dislayobject? as i am using a matrix transform manager which actually changing the transform matrix of the display object.
currently i have a function in which my object fish will move to a food i am having trouble getting it to rotate nicely to the food currently my function is as below.if the food is above the fish my fish rotation is 0 which is facing up, if the food is below my fish i will give it a rotation of 180 which will make it face down , however the rotation is too sudden it does not give a nice and realistic effect of rotating to the food.how can i make it when rotating to move some distance and at the same time rotate? because it cant rotate to the food in the same spot as it would not be realistic.
public function moveToFood():void { var foodTarget:Food = fishArray[fishArray.length - 1];
What I'm trying to do is to write something in an input field and then it should show up in a dinamic field. I can make this happen, but the problem is that the dinamic field shows its new text in the same format as the Input field. For example, the input text is written in TimesNewRoman and the dinamic text is in Arial, but when the dinamic text shows the input, the text is still in TimesNewRoman when I want it to be in Arial.
I've created a dynamic text field - mediaImportName001 (created , and populated it with the name of a file that I choose to import using a browse button (as3 and AIR).This works fine - I can import the file, and the name appears in the field.
I'd now like to pass the contents of the text field to another text field. But I can't get the contents. If I try to trace the contents of the textField trace("mediaImportName"+thisNum).text - Flash returns "undefined" (even though I'm asking it to trace after the field has been populated).
I use the following code to check that the field really is there and named correctly (the code returns the children):
i want to generate 12 TextFields matrix and update their text from time to time.. i managed to Generate them but i can't access after to update their texts...
