ActionScript 3.0 :: String With XML Tags Still Attached?
Jul 6, 2010
I'm trying to target a specific tag and its children with a function I have.I have two functions written basically the same, except one is trying to reference a target. For some reason on the one trying to reference a target, I get the XML tag names still attached to the URL. Does anyone know why this would happen in one function and not the other?Working function:
Code:
function fileLoaded(event:Event):void {
myXML = XML(event.target.data);
I'm working on a textField overflow system for a project at the moment.I cant find a way to return a textField's htmlText complete with the original html tags.The system is used for splitting up a textField above a particular height into two textFields so the side of each other. The system works perfectly with unformatted text, but I cant seem to extract the formatting tags out of the left textField and apply them to the right - all I can get is plain text. (The system uses a StyleSheet by the way - so it is applied to both textFields).I 've tried:
Code: if (leftField.textHeight > contentHeight) { //var rightString:String = new String; var lastLineIndex:int = leftField.getLineIndexAtPoint(10, contentHeight - 5);[code]...........
The commented out code represents the alternative method I've tried (still fails).
I have a string variable assigned with some Content in HTML format.[code]...
But in the output i am getting as This is <b. Basically it considering HTML related tags also as text. But my code has to omit the HTML tags while calculating sub string.
to restrict the maximum number of characters on a TextField by applying the maxChars to 30. This call exists before applying the html text to the TextField. For some reason nothing happens.textfield.maxChars = 30;var str:String = "<p><h3>Quisque id velit risus, vitae dictum sapien.</h3><p>Fusce aliquam nunc id risus lobortis in malesuada mi pellentesque. Suspendisse potenti.</p><br/><justify>Nulla facilisi. Maecenas bibendum tortor ac felis tristique eget suscipit enim dapibus. Curabitur ut eleifend purus. Sed elementum facilisis dui in dapibus.</justify></p>";textfield.htmlText = str;
I want to alter the text color inside a string that has some HTML tags using regular expressions.My question is how can I alter the letters only of the text between html tags and not inside the html tagsI am using something like this:
ActionScript Code: var exp:RegExp = new RegExp(textfield.text,"i") str = str.replace(exp, "<font color='#FF0000'>$&</font>");
I have been trying to figure out how you could add in custom attribute tags that flash can recover.
EX: <param name = "movie" value = "somefile.swf"> <embed src = "somefile.swf" width = "550" height = "400">
Except, that I would like to add a Custom tag, like "randNum" so that the tag user could input some number, or rather, a flash movie could generate a tag with a number already put in...Basically, heres a really basic version of the idea.There is a Flash Movie.In the movie, you can input text into a textfield.Upon finishing your message, you click a button "save".
The flash movie then:
1. Comes up with a random number unique to the message.
2. Assigns that number to a variable... "randNum".
3. Saves message as a xml file to the server as "filename" + randNum.
4. Outputs into a textfield a generated HTML tag that a user can post on myspace and such so that it will load in the flash movie.
Except... in the tag, there will be a custom attribute. If the random number variable "randNum" was 00112233, the custom attribute will be 00112233.
So when the movie opens, it retrieves that randNum from the tag and can use it inside flash. How can this be done? Sorry this post was so long, but I wanted everyone to understand the concept.
first, I need to show an <hr/> tag after the description, its an rss widget so need to seperate with each rss post with a border or hr. Its not possible to make it manually because its came from xml. I'll give you the existing script with me.
second, I need to add utm tag after the urls to trace the clicks, this is actually I need to add after the links 'utm_source=rsswidget', you'll get an idea by seeing the script below
var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoaded); var xml:XML; function onLoaded(e:Event):void
I have a master page that gets all its images from a table on a database, and I am trying to incorporate flash, for banners, but I can't quite seem to figure it out.Right now there is a:
<asp:image id="headerimg" runat="server"> and that generates the appropriate img tag needed to show an image in html. Now I would like to know if there is any way where I can generate an object tag if a .swf file is present and populate the tag with width height and data and also not show the img tag.
I now have made a usercontrol that will create the object tag, but can someone please tell me if it is looking like I am doing it right..
In Actionscript and Adobe Flex, I'm using a pattern and regexp (with the global flag) with the string.match method and it works how I'd like except when the match returns multiple occurrences of the same word in the text. In that case, all the matches for that word point only to the index for the first occurrence of that word. For example, if the text is "cat dog cat cat cow" and the pattern is a search for cat*, the match method returns an array of three occurrences of "cat", however, they all point to only the index of the first occurrence of cat when i use indexOf on a loop through the array. I'm assuming this is just how the string.match method is. I want to find the specific indices of every occurrence of a match, even if it is of a word that was already previously matched.
But I keep getting an "Error #2030: End of file was encountered." This is (probably) because the class I'm serializing is too big for the "String" object type in AS3. Is there a limitless object for storing an array of characters (or better yet binary), or am I going to have to make my own class? (like one with an array of strings)
I am trying to include double quotes in a string but logic says it would just close the string. I know in html you would use something like ". In flash...I havent the slightest.Anyone know how to go about this?
I have a String variable in my flex (flash builder 4) application containing CSV data. I need to allow the user to download this data to a local file. For example, giving them a "csv" button to click and it might present them with a save file dialog (and I would be sending the contents of my string variable).Is this possible / how ?I am using the ResuableFX component for the datagrid to csv. This the code I ended up with that works to save the string to a text file for the user (in a web browser):
var dg2CSV:DataGrid2CSV = new DataGrid2CSV(); dg2CSV.includeHeader=true; dg2CSV.target=adgEncounters;

Basically I'm trying to output the contents of an XML document into a dynamic text field (as loaded - not just its node values and content - the entire thing - into a variable called _root.log). The text field is set to show the variable value of _root.log.This is the actionscript...
PHP Code: var newProfileXML:XML= new XML("<contacts result='true'><contact name='John Doe'/><contact name='Jane Doe'/></contacts>");

I'm not where error exactly the error happen so I post the whole thing. As far I know bottom code that relate to send_loc.php works fine, get_loc.php is having a problem. The output from get_loc.php is
Im playing around with the last.fm api... Specifically the "getLovedtracks" call.... [URL] This is a weird one that I have never come across... The above call requires a username to return a track listing so if I hard code the username into my class like this.... var username:string = "aidanmack" No problems the call works... if I make that username equal to a dynamic text box string that has "aidanamck" typed into it.. so something like... var username:string = mystage.textbox.text
the last.fm api wont except this... I get user does not exist But if I check the call with the charles proxy Flash is defo sending the username "aidanmack" So I wonder if its to do with have how last.fms api interprets the string?
I need to be able to pass some variables FROM flash and append it to the end of my address. I assumed that if I used LoadVars, I can append the vars to the end of the string like this:
ActionScript Code: send_btn.onRelease = function () { var my_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();

I am sending a string to asp from flash that looks like this;
[CODE].....
The problem is when asp (probably php too) reads this string, it reads it like this
[CODE]....
Now this sucks, is there a way to encrypt my flash string so asp will read the string corectly? I know asp is url encoding the flash string, but this bit of info does not seem to help.
