Actionscript 3 :: String - Serializing Objects - String Type Too Small To Hold Blob
Dec 12, 2011
I'm using:
[Code]...
But I keep getting an "Error #2030: End of file was encountered." This is (probably) because the class I'm serializing is too big for the "String" object type in AS3. Is there a limitless object for storing an array of characters (or better yet binary), or am I going to have to make my own class? (like one with an array of strings)
We have an Adobe Flex client talking to a .NET server using WebORB. Simplifying things, on the .NET side of things we have a struct that wraps a ulong like this:
public struct MyStruct { private ulong _val;
[Code]....
I've tried playing with custom WebORB serializers, but the documentation is a bit scarce. Is this possible? If so how?
I think I can work out how to serialize it, but not the other way. Do I need to write a Custom Serializer on the the Flex end as well?
Scenario: 4 areas on 1 stage which are quite similar (eg webcamconference, each area has the same functions)
Buttonobjects are numbered(eg area 1 has playbutton1,mutebutton1,namebutton1,namelabel1, etc)
every area gets a close-Button which closes/shuts down the area.(close1,close2,close3...)i want to archive the following:
if(close1.isPressed){ function invisall(1); }[code]....
this should do the trick via dynamic Nr at the end of each default button(eg playbutton) but ofc
"playbutton1"._visible=false;
doesnt work because playbutton1 is still a String.how can i take the String as a Buttonname /ButtonObject? do i need to write an new function? this would destroy the purpose of less code. for now i will split the area into frames that i put on the stage.
im making a game and i have occured a problem.i have a hits text on the screen and every time a enemys bullet hits me it decrases by 1.and i wanna make that when it gets to 0 my ship explodes.
I have a dynamic text field on the stage, instance name contentLength. I get this error: 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type Number to an unrelated type String.
Code: import flash.display.*; import flash.events.*; import flash.text.TextField; var mcHolder:MovieClip = new MovieClip(); mcHolder.width = 200; contentLength.text = mcHolder.width;
I've created a textfield which I want to hold the time that is left of a flv being played. I also created a timer which will see to it that it gets updated.[code]However, when i try to compile i get this error message:"1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type Number to an unrelated type String.
I very new to AS. I'm getting an error with the below code: gotoAndPlay("scene2", 1); Error: 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type int to an unrelated type String. Go I want to do at this point is jump to 'scene2' when the time line hits a certain frame on scene1. Is this the correct way of doing it,
I am building little games never anything too big. I'm having fun. I'm getting the following error message 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type String to an unrelated type flash.display:DisplayObject.
It's got to do with the varObject variable I pass into the hitTestObject (at the end of the code) a. I exported the moveclip for actionscript and gave it an instance name so what's the problem???
i have a algorithm from javascript i would like to use in AS3 but get an error:Scene 1, Layer 'Layer 1', Frame 1, Line 81067: Implicit coercion of a value of type Number to an unrelated type String.
Code: var a = [34, 203, 3, 746, 200, 984, 198, 764, 9]; function mergeSort(arr) {
In my external .as file, I'm trying to say that "if my current frame has the frame label of "enterdone", then go to the frame with the label "enter". The movie clip is called _cedars, and all of my frame labels, variables, etc. are set up properly. Here is my code:
Error 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type String to an unrelated type flash.text:TextField. stop( ); this.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, loading); function loading(e:Event): void { var total: Number = this.stage.loaderInfo.bytesTotal; var loaded: Number = this.stage.loaderInfo.bytesLoaded; bar_mc.scaleX = loaded/total; loader_txt = Math.floor( (loaded/total)*100)+ "%"; if (total == loaded) { play(); this.removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, loading); }}
i'm attempting to load data from XML and use this data as variable values. My problem is, loaded XML data is always a String, but sometimes I want to load other variable types.There are several boring solutions to this, such using typeof to determine the the datatype of a variable and then using a function and switch statement to convert the XML data to the appropriate data type. I'd love though if there's a sneaky 1 liner to do this using built in functions. Something like:var x:int = typeof(x)("123");Let me phrase the problem another way.Lets say we have this:
var x:int = new int; var y:string = "123"; var z: othertype = "123"
I am having problems getting information that was calculated to display the results in a dynamic text box. It is pulling information from 3 separate boxes and making two calculations. It is then supposed to display the results in two separate dynamic text boxes.[code]The error message says "Implicit coercion of a value of type String to an unrelated type Number"
I have parsed the data from an xml doc to global vars in flash and need to use a few of them as numbers for things the position of "nodes" on the screen. However I can not cast the data stored as a var to a number or int value.
For example in the code below when the set Node button is pressed it traces the "Node's" current X value, then the value in the global var gotten from the xml, which contains the x position of where to place the Node.
Next it creates a new var of Number Type and assigns it the Number value of the string in global var. It then traces the new value of SNtopLeftX and sets the x pos of the Node's movie clip to the value of SNtopLeftX However the Node doesn't move and this is the output I get from the traces
Start Node is at x = -734.5 nod_topLeftX is 16 TopLeftX = 16 SN TopLeftX = NaN
I do not understand why I am getting NaN when the string of nod_topLefX is 16, any ideas?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is my Code butNodeSet.onRelease = function() { trace ("Start Node is at x = " + mcStartNode._x); trace ("nod_topLeftX is " + nod_topLeftX);
I have a string, I am compressing it with bytearray and save it to a file. In other application I am loading it and when I try to uncompress it, it's give me an error. How can I convert a compressed string in to bytearray type to be able to convert it? The code for compression: var b:ByteArray = new ByteArray();b.writeMultiByte(t,"iso-8859-1")b.compress();
I take a date (as a string data type) from the user. Now, I want to know if there is a a function in actionscript that will convert it to a date format. Right now, I am just parsing the string and concatenating the pieces back together. i.e.:
But for months like May, it will return "5" and not "05". I have similar problems for days like "9" or "7." Is there something in the library that will do this for me? (For the moment, I can go ahead and manually concatenate the "0" in front, but this seems like a hassle to do.)
I have a String variable named type. It is supposed to hold the easing type that is used for Tweening, so for example var type:String = "Regular. easeInOut"; I then want to be able to use the variable when creating a new tween, such as:yTween = new Tween (this," y",type ,startCoord, finishCoord,duration,true); I tried to use this[type] etc. but couldnt get it to work. Any suggestions?
I have a Flash Builder 4.6 project that is referencing an external ActionScript calculation library (swc). I am having some annoying issues when trying to convert a number to a string for display.
[CODE]...
The first assignment of totalFuelCosts is fine, but the second to totalEmissions constantly gives me the following error: 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type String to an unrelated type Number I initially used toString() which worked fine, then about 10 minutes later gave me an error. So I switch to String() which again works fine, then about 10 minutes later gives me an error. I have also click 'Project' 'Clean' and cleaned all projects, this clears the error, but it comes back again about 10 minutes later.
Flash + AMFPHP is a great combination. But there are cases, when Flash Remoting with NetConnection isn't the right tool, for various reasons. Rob had a great post on this some time ago: http:[url]....He also has a nice example on how to deliver AMF to a http request, without the POST and AMF-request package to call the function that NetConnection sends, using Zend_AMF.
// Include the Zend Loader include_once 'Zend/Loader.php'; // Tell the Zend Loader to autoload any classes we need[code].....
I really like this approach and would be very hapy to replicate it with AMFPHP. Why AMFPHP, you ask? The 'newest' version uses amf-ext, a C PHP extension, to serialize and deserialize the data. It is much faster than the php way ZendAMF is still using.Of course I already played around with AMFPHP and tried to build the necessary objects and use the Serializer class. I even got a valid AMF string, but the real data was always wrapped by a 'method package' that told the receiver this was a answer to 'Service.method' call.is there a way to serialize Flash Objects directly, without the gateway and method wrapper, in AMFPHP?
In Actionscript and Adobe Flex, I'm using a pattern and regexp (with the global flag) with the string.match method and it works how I'd like except when the match returns multiple occurrences of the same word in the text. In that case, all the matches for that word point only to the index for the first occurrence of that word. For example, if the text is "cat dog cat cat cow" and the pattern is a search for cat*, the match method returns an array of three occurrences of "cat", however, they all point to only the index of the first occurrence of cat when i use indexOf on a loop through the array. I'm assuming this is just how the string.match method is. I want to find the specific indices of every occurrence of a match, even if it is of a word that was already previously matched.
I am trying to include double quotes in a string but logic says it would just close the string. I know in html you would use something like ". In flash...I havent the slightest.Anyone know how to go about this?
I have a String variable in my flex (flash builder 4) application containing CSV data. I need to allow the user to download this data to a local file. For example, giving them a "csv" button to click and it might present them with a save file dialog (and I would be sending the contents of my string variable).Is this possible / how ?I am using the ResuableFX component for the datagrid to csv. This the code I ended up with that works to save the string to a text file for the user (in a web browser):
var dg2CSV:DataGrid2CSV = new DataGrid2CSV(); dg2CSV.includeHeader=true; dg2CSV.target=adgEncounters;
