ActionScript 3.0 :: Timers And Functions - Disable Buttons - Getting A Coercion Error
Aug 18, 2010
I've been having trouble in creating a game where I need to disable some buttons so that an animation can play. I've tried using a function to call a timer, but I keep getting a coercion error. Can someone steer me to where I need to go to be able to figure this out?
In a game I'm making the timers that I use go one speed when I run it by pushing Ctrl-Enter in Flash but when I run the external .swf file created, the timers go considerably slower.I have managed to work around this by making the timers reset at lower intervals but I would rather not have to resort to this.
Within my movieclip WinLose I'm getting an error for a movieclip on stage called mcRestart. When it's pressed it's suppose to trigger function Restart. But for some reason, it's giving me the: "TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::Stage@4f4ff99 to flash.display.MovieClip. at WinLose/frame1()"
I've been working on this game for class (I'm pretty novice, FYI) and I'm having trouble with this one error... mentioned in the title. I've had this error for a couple of weeks and I don't know what to do to fix it. I've uploaded my zip file for anyone who can PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me figure this out... or at least point me in the right direction of how to fix it. [URL]...
mplicity coercion of a value with a static type flash.display:DisplayObject to a possibly unrelated type flash.display:MovieClip The line the error points to is "addInfoBubble(item)" below
To begin with, I'm a student currently learning how to build a website in Flash using nothing but ActionScript 3.0. I've run into a little snag and I'm at the very beginning of my code, just setting things up. Here is all the code thus far:
[Code]....
And I got this error message relating to the addChild lines: 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type Class to an unrelated type flash.display:DisplayObject. I'm not a complete novice with Flash, but this has me puzzled.
I should say that this is for a multi touch table so I am using gestureworks library but someone may be able to tell where I went wrong just from the code.I am getting this error and it's really confusing.Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert album@2d2e5ee9 to id.core.TouchSprite. at Main().I have a movieclip in my library named "album" the base class is set to id.core.TouchMovieClip (code from gestureworks) and below is my actionscript in the Document Class.[code]
I supplied a flash ad to a digital publication, the magazine ones where the pages flip. My ad has different pages you can view when you hover over the top tabs. On each of these pages are words or buttons that you can click on to direct you to a URL. I used the simple code (Actionscript 1.0, Macromedia Flash MX) below to achieve this:
i got a s:List with a dataprovider and a custom itemrenderer. now my itemrenderer has a button within. Every time i choose a item from the list, i get focus on the item, but clicking the button within the item only causes the s:List to select the hole item and wont let me press the button within the item.
is there any solution to disable the "list" selection functionallity but keeping the items within the list enabled / clickable?
You know, in C++, C# and other educated languages, we got the chance to enable/disable the availability of some code in a certain class via compiler arguments. Take #if and #endif for example. You give an argument to the compiler, for example PROJECT_TDD_MODE, when a certain bunch of function would exist in the final code, but without defining that, or defining it as FALSE, the code would not exist in the compiled result.
Why don't we have something like this in AS3?
Later Edit: what I want to achieve is this:
2. Compiler if-statements CANNOT be written OUTSIDE the functions. [code]...
I am using ActionScript 3.0.Here I want to setFocus on a DisplayObject(flash.display.DisplayObject).[code]But I am getting: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert mx.managers::FocusManager@3881e41 to mx.managers.FocusManager.This is at line:var focusManager1:FocusManager = dispObject["focusManager"];The same code would work if I use mx.core.UIComponent instead of DisplayObject, I guess. But I am not able to convert DisplayObject to UIComponent (invalid cast).
I am loading a swf, "ImageEdit" into another swf, "Shell". I instantiate ImageEdit with
var ClassReference:Class=imageEditApplicationDomain.getDefinition("ImageEdit") as Class; var instance:MovieClip=new ClassReference(); However, I get an error:
I have this error. I am very very new to the Flex world. I have this function which returns an ArrayList. public function createDataProvider():ArrayList { .... return new ArrayList(imgArray); }
Later, I use it here: <s:List id="pubmapList" dragEnabled="false" dropEnabled="false" dragMoveEnabled="false" dataProvider="{createDataProvider}"> Here, I got an error saying: implicit coercion of a value of type to an unrelated type mx.collections.ilist. I thought the IList implementation includes ArrayList.
I have a flex file I am trying to load into a game. the projected .swf file works perfect on its own however when I load it into the main file i get:[code]......
I have a combobox named myComboBox on the stage. My library has pngs with linkages ClownFish, FishWithStar, etc. What I hope to achieve is that when a item is selected in the combobox, my png will show at the stage. but gave me the error:
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert "ClownFish" to flash.display.BitmapData. at main_fla::MainTimeline/changeHandler() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/flash.events:EventDispatcher::dispatchEventFunctio n() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEvent() at fl.controls::ComboBox/fl.controls:ComboBox:nListChange() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/flash.events:EventDispatcher::dispatchEventFunctio n() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEvent() at fl.controls::SelectableList/fl.controls:SelectableList::handleCellRendererClic k() [Code] .....
- In the library, there is 2 different Sprite. These 2 Sprite has a different Class name and used the same Base Class.
- The Base Class is a custom Class - The 2 Sprite will do exactly the same thing. The only difference is the content image and shape that differs. You can imagin a puzzle. All piece differ, but are use for the same thing. - In each Sprite, there is another Sprite named Hitzone_inst on the stage MovieClip Name. The item is the shape of the puzzle part, so it is different shape in each.
- The custom Class I can then call the Hitzone_inst as the hitzone for the click
The problem is when I publish, the error appear: TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert Hitzone_inst_1@14b2c161 to Hitzone_inst_2. It's like I can't used the same Base Class for 2 different items with the same items structure and name inside.
I paid an overseas developer to create a basketball plays application in FLEX.Its been having intermittent issues connecting to the database that have recently gotten worse. The connections work fine on this page:http:[url]... but intermittenly it will not connect to the database when a user chooses a play such as this:http:[url]...
I have been trying to track down the issue as the developer blames it on the host.I used a Firefox extension called Flash Tracer which gave me the following error:TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert mx.rpc.events::FaultEvent@c2e0941 to org.basketballplaybook.GetLinkOnGameResultEvent.atflash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction()[code].....
I try to dispatch an error event in an AS3 application:dispatchEvent( new ErrorEvent( ErrorEvent.ERROR, false, false, "my error message"));but I get the following runtime error:
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.events::ErrorEvent@2c04239 to com.adobe.protocols.dict.events.ErrorEvent. at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction()
I have the following function constantly running to check for collision between a player-controlled ball (mcBall) and a number of walls (aptly named mcWall1, mcWall2, etc.): (the var numberofwalls gets its own value in each different frame where there is a different number of movieclips.)
I have a loader pulling in an external .swf (which works fine) but when I added an event to unload it I got this error:Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::Stage@47730091 to flash.display.Loader. here is the snippet
ActionScript Code: private function jumptest (event:TouchEvent):void{ var infoloader:Loader = new Loader();[code].....
I have a project where a 3D VR swf created and compiled in Flash Builder that is being loaded into a Gaia site. The Gaia site is being coded in Flash Builder but compiled in the Flash CS4 IDE. In order to use strong typing I have set up a Flash Builder Library project that holds a few interfaces and VOs to be passed between the Gaia site and the 3D VR Component. That library's swc is referenced in all the projects (Flash CS4 IDE and FB).
If I try to pass a typed object from the site to the 3D VR, I get a coercion failed error. The error only happens when the 3D component compiled in FB expects that custom VO object. If I set the function to expect a generic Object type, it works. I can access the values of my custom VO object manually.
The full error is "TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert components.vr.vo::VRRoomDataVO@4640fec1 to components.vr.vo.VRRoomDataVO."
Is there a trick to share custom VOs between Flash IDE projects and Flash Builder projects?
I'm trying to create something super simple, a couple of buttons in a movieclip. Inside the movieclip is the code below. I keep getting the error below when trying to publish this file. AS2 was so easy!! I have no idea what the heck TypeError: Error #1034 is and I did look this error up online.
Code: var myRoot:MovieClip = MovieClip(root); var mainmov:MovieClip = MovieClip(myRoot.parent.root); //mainmov.rdcmndPause = 1;[code]....
ERROR when trying to publish: TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::Stage@30fb7089 to flash.display.MovieClip. at Playpausetest2_fla::test_1/frame1()
