Mar 12, 2010I have already stumbled across two games (I mean... um... work related Flash stuff, yes boss, I'm working) which get "choppy" when you hold down the key to move (though it should apply to all keys)You know when you are typing in word, if you hold down one key, first you get one letter printed, and a second later it writes that letter really fast multiple times until you release? I believe that is what is happening that makes those games choppy. This is likely because the "KEY_DOWN" event gets dispatched very many times for the same reasons.
Now, either both those games were crappy enough so they forgot to test for this issue, or it's a Linux specific issue. I need you (yes you) to double check (stating your operating system and browser) if you get the same results.If you hold down the key to go left, (or right, doesn't matter) first you go left smoothly, and then after a second it starts "chopping" and resetting the movieclip's frame to the first walk frame.

May 20, 2008I've got a bug in my code, where a button has to be double clicked to work.Just wondering what is the standard distinction for the difference between single and double click.

Check exists in the libary (but does not have an instance name) and no where else on the stage. when I run this code I get: 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method Check. -> var rightCheck = new Check(); How is it undefinded if it exists in the libary?

Jan 27, 2011The following is my codes. This is still work in progress; so, you will see some functions with empty contents. Plus, this is my first Flex application; please bear with me. This is a quiz application that gets the questions and answers to each questions from a ColdFusion web service. There are three types of questions, True or False, Multiple Choice with single selection, and Multiple Choice with multiple selections. So, based upon the question type, the application would dynamically generate the appropriate amount of radio buttons or check boxes for the users to select. I got these working. The problem that I am having is, I am not sure how to check what the users have actually selected. In some other forums and posts on other web site, it said that I can use event.currentTarget.selectedValue to get the user selection. But when I actually do it, I got a run-time error saying, "Property selectedValue not found on mx.controls.FormItem and there is no default value." My question is, what do I need to do to capture the user selections?

Flex :: How To Get Rid Of Spacing Between Several DataGrids
Dec 15, 2009I've got a Grid whose GridItems contain another DataGrids. (The DataGrid are nested in the Grid). Now I changed the Grid's horizontalGap-StyleProperty to zero. But because there are several DataGrids in one GridItem, there is still about 5-10px spacing in between those DataGrids. How to get rid of these spacings ?

Nov 17, 2009I have at some point imported photoshop graphics into flash where some textfield have had quite a large linespacing.Now, when I create a new textfield it will inherit this linespacing and the properties box have no setting for cahnging itHow can I get rid of this!?Edit:Nevermind, I just copied around some other textfields without linespacing and it dissapeared. A bit strange though that there's no setting for it.

May 26, 2010I'm trying to figure out a way to center dynamic text fields vertically after the text has been input. For instance, in some instances I would have a dynamic field with two lines, and I would want to center it between two other dynamic fields- but only after the text has been populated. Maybe a better way of explaining it would be changing the spacing of elements on a page so they're always equidistant from one another.

newsID
newstitle is a single line dynamic textbox
newstxt is a multiline dynamic textbox
I want to pull all the data from the news table and display it. This is what I am trying to do.

*Need to set ID = 2 a certain amount of space from where newstxt textbox ends

Everything is working fine except for the fact that all the text that isnt an attribute as lots of extra spacing infront of it. I made sure my i set ignoreWhite to true but it still is cuaseing those spaces.

Jan 29, 2009I like to place lets say 4 movieclips on the stage with a random x-axis, but with no overlap, and if possible also not outside the borders of the stage. Performing the hit test would be not to hard, but then perfomring it again untill it is true, that is the tricky part (for me).
On the other hand I just want to place them visually random on stage, but infact they need to be more or less evenly distributed over the stage width, so maybe another solution is easier?

Dec 30, 2009I am new to the forum, I have used Flash MX 2004 for quite a while and had never had this problem, recently I gave my site a "facelift" in CS4 and I got it exactly how I wanted it, I exported the swf file and saved the flash file. That was a few days ago, Today I wanted to add a new piece to my portfolio so I opened the same exact file today and everything had shifted! Flash :: CS4 Incapable Of Handling Line Spacing?
Jun 1, 2009Have I lost my mind, or is Flash CS4 incapable of handling line spacing? Some of my text boxes are unaffected, but as soon as I apply multiple line spacing values within one box, Flash reverts to just one of the values. How can that be? Isn't this a professional design application?
