How can I reduce the space between my linkButtons and inside each linkButton ?
I've set padding to 0 but it was already 0.I've been able to only change the height of the LinkButtons, but I cannot do that with the width because the text is dynamic.[code]...
Do you know any flex component with the functionality such as horizontally collapsible window or panel I found arc90, but it folds vertically.

I have implemented application client-server with spring blazeDs message services using JMS message destination. The idea is a producer declared in Java send message using activeMQ and consumer declared in Flex receives them. I have configured the AMFChannel with a polling interval 0, but I have seen when the consumer subscribes to the destination in Flex, the time request can be of up to 3 seconds.

I am using Flex Builder 3. Even for a small project, my exported .air file's size is around 400k. Is it because of all the Flex libraries being compiled into my application. I wanted to know if it is possible to remove the libraries that I don't use.

I've got a Grid whose GridItems contain another DataGrids. (The DataGrid are nested in the Grid). Now I changed the Grid's horizontalGap-StyleProperty to zero. But because there are several DataGrids in one GridItem, there is still about 5-10px spacing in between those DataGrids. How to get rid of these spacings ?
View 5 RepliesI have a simple application that consists of a HSlider and a list that contains a item renderer with a border container managed by a tile layout. For some reason when moving the slider to reduce the size of the item renderer it only reduce to a certain size and wont reduce any further. I use the same principle in flex 3 (with mx components it works fine).

We believe we spent a lot of time into asset optimization and most of the work is remaining on the code.By analyzing our link-report, our guess is that the heavy part of the code is comming from Flex .mxml nested components. We don't think there is much to do on our pure AS classes.Is there any analysis or coding best practice in order to reduce the impact of the code on the swf filesize ?
I have created a spark ButtonBar which is dynamically populated with XML and skinned to look like a standard TabBar. When I used the TabBar in Flex 3, the width of each Tab would shrink or grow to the size of the Label, plus a little padding either side. When using the spark ButtonBar in Flex 4, I find that no matter how short the label (even an empty string), the Buttons will be at least 70 pixels wide, and will expand for longer labels. I have tried setting the minWidth to 20 in various places, including on my ButtonBarButton skin, but this has no effect.

We have a requirement to show a list of appointment slots. So every hour of a schedule has a set of 10 min slots. The requirement is that if we click on a arrow button at the 8:00, 9:00 hour slot, the layout of the hour slots should change from a vertical list to a horizontal list.For this we modeled the system as follows:ScheduleComponent ->(contains) -> List (Hours of schedule)The HourViewComponent is an Item Renderer, that displays the 10 mins slots based on the available appointments by using a Slots List (list of slots in the 8:00 hour). For the Slots List we have a Slot View Component as an Item Renderer.Now the issue is that when we click on the 8:00 slot we are able to change the HourViewSlot from a VerticalState to a Horizontal state. But The container height is not collapsing in the minimized state. It occupies the same size as the vertical layout! We tried using variableRowHeight attribute.

I've tried messing with the width properties and paddingLeft and paddingRight styles of both the DataGridColumn and the itemRenderer, but nothing seems to work. I've been searching for the last couple days but can't seem to find a basic example of what I'm looking for. I'm developing a Flex 4.5 app and in it I have a viewstack of 2 components that use some of the same services. Currently the only way I can get the app to correctly use the web services is by defining 2 different web services that use the same PHP web service file. For example: I have an app, and within it I have a viewstack with tab navigation of 2 components: #1) retrieve a list of all Salary Employees, and #2) retrieve a list of all Contractors. Currently to get it working I am defining a UsersTableEmployees webservice within component #1 and a UsersTableContractors webservice within component #2, but they both point to the same PHP class, and only differ in the arugment value I pass to them. Ie, getUsers("employee") and getUsers ("contractors"). Of course this is not best practice.

This template includes an icon (Image), text (label), and some space between these two things.

so I am trying to drag around some images in a canvas. I am adding eventlisteners to the components and calling startDrag() and stopDrag() to pick them up and stuff:
component.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, component.startDrag)
The problem is that it is selecting the image at its (0,0) location and not where I initially click on it. So there's a sudden "jump" when I click on the image. It is not smooth.
I noticed that startDrag() has two default parameters, one of them is lockCenter and it is default to false. Maybe do I set it equal to true somehow? (I don't know how to pass arguments to my second parameter in addeventlistener)
Another question: if I want to add more conditions to it, like make a new function that uses component.startDrag(), how do I pass the component to this function while adding event listener to it at the same time? for example: I want to do:
component.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, some_other_function);
where some_other_function uses component.startDrag();

I am trying to wrap some text with a component but can not figure out how to align them correctly. Here is what I am looking for:If you have not entered your credentials, enter your credentials by clicking Set Credentials.
The "If you have not entered your credentials, enter your credentials by clicking" is a string.The "Set Credentials" is a button so it can be clicked by the user.I tried putting the string in a textarea which wrapped the text but could not get the button to horizontally align with the text. I also tried adding them both with Tile, then I do not get proper wrapping.
I am using IFrame and adding it dynamically, and it hides a new Alert.show and a previously made TitleWindow.How do I arrange it to go back or to make that Alert or window on top of all ?
