ActionScript 3.0 :: Works Great With Flash Player But Gives Error With Iphone?
Nov 5, 2010
When I use the flash player to test my file it works great. But when I use the iphone OS it gives me these problems. I've looked up a lot of the related error problems and haven't found the answer
I have numerous swf files which work except one that is rather complex. When I debug the FLA of this problem file in flash CS4, it works fine. When I publish the FLA and open the subsequent SWF in Flash, it works fine. I open the same file in Flash Player or when I open it on a browser, the screen is white and nothing happens. When a right click on the browser frame and it offers me all the possibilities of a fully loaded movie, except that there is just a blank screen
would this be considered a bug in my code (AS3 and Tweener) or a problem with the SWF and its interaction with HTML?When I test the SWF in Flash, there's no breaking it.I can't break it at all works exactly like it's suppose to.When I embed it in Flash, it breaks in an odd way.I have two buttons, left and right. When the buttons are clicked, images on stage move in the direction they're clicked.When embedded, if I click a button really fast, the images start tripping over each other. Strange thing is, it's only to the left button and not the right, but the code is exactly the same for the right & left movement. If I click the buttons slowly everything works as expected.All of this while again everything works great in Flash itself. No errors.So, at the very least I'm trying to find out if this would be considered a but with my code or a problem with the browsers and the Flash player.
look @ the source for this page [URL] It works great in all Webkit/Mozilla browers but in IE 9 we can only see the top half of the swf and in IE 8 it doesnt load @ all. I searched all the other threads and nothing seems to work
I have been working on this for a few days on the localhost set up, retriving data as varaibles from a php string. There is a output.php file located on the server. [URL]. My Flash code for retriving the code(the swf in embedded into a menu.php file that is in this dir [URL]). var theloader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); theloader.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES; theloader.load(new URLRequest("[URL]")); theloader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, turnOn);
There is no error given by Flash, I just does not load. This is what I have tried (as far as the link is concerned) theloader.load(new URLRequest("[URL]")); theloader.load(new URLRequest("[URL]")); theloader.load(new URLRequest("/output.php")); theloader.load(new URLRequest("output.php")); Still is not loading the file.
migrating some of my code snippets over from AS2.I tried reproducing one of my most used bit of code - the dynamic border - in AS3, but I have run into a small problem.
PHP Code: var sw:int = stage.stageWidth -1; var sh:int = stage.stageHeight -1;[code].....
So this code works great in Firefox but fails miserably in IE6, Flash Player 9. So my question is does anybody have a workaround that works on IE6, Player 9?
i am trying to create a AS3 youtube player... and after i searched online and followed tutorials, i couldnt make any of them work due to errors.. i always get this error Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2124: Loaded file is an unknown type. is it because i am testing it locally? I tried online as well without any luck!
My loader component works when I publish to Flash Player 7 but not when I publish to Flash Player 8, why? The publish setting are for ActionScript 2.0 on both.
Compilation failed while executing: as. I am publishing a swf with one frame, no scripts, no graphics, nothing. This is a result of removing asset after asset from my original swf, which produced the same publishing error, in an effort to determine what the issue is. What conclusion can I draw from this? I just want it to do what it says on the tin: Publish flash to iOS apps. Why is this not possible?
We'd like to show some shiny charts/plots/tables for some business data. It targets PC browsers and iPhone/iPad.
We have done some research and here's possible solutions:
HTML5: not yet very standard and we are lack of experience. Flash: it looks like Flash on iPhone runs on some sort of virtual machine, it's not very efficient. We have little knowledge on this too. Silverlight + Cocoa Touch: it looks like MS is now giving up SL. We need two times of work on GUI if we choose this. Maybe I can write some XAML parser for iOS using UIKit and Core Animation.
Before we test the final effect you will need to adjust some of your flash movies settings. First load up the File -> Publish Settings menu, select the "Flash" tab and set the version to "Flash Player 6" (this setting has to be applied as for some unknown reason the firework effect script will not function in any other versions) Now click "OK"

there is any way to run this effect in flash player 8? I need it to be able to use filters.
I've created a Flash file that reads from several different xml files and displays them when requested. When I run the Flash player, (by pressing Command-Space within Flash), it all works flawlessly. But when I open it within a browser, only one of the xml files loads, the other two just spin away on the preloader.I have another Flash file that is doing the same thing. A click on a scrolling new list should take you to another web page. In Flash Player it works fine, but from a Browser nothing happens
I am using the web services connector but it only works if I set the publish settings to compile for Flash Player 7 or above and I need my movie to run on version 6. The web services connector should work from version 6 and I have used it before and published for v6 but for some reason the movie will publish without an error but the web service won't trigger. If I change the settings to publish for version 7 or 8 then it works fine. Here's my code if it's any help:
ActionScript Code: import mx.data.components.WebServiceConnector; var webServiceURL:String = "http://myurl.com"; var wSCheckConnection:Object = new Object();
I have a problem with flash player versions. When I use onSoundComplete event it normally works at Flash Player 6 but it's broken at Flash Player 8. How can I call a function when my sound is finished?
I have an actions layer and a layer with a video object, called "theVideo". Below is the actionscript:
stop(); // global objects.... buffer._visible = false; // playlist object for the playlist from raw xml data
[code]....
This script works locally. I have checked and double-checked the file locations when uploaded. It will parse the XML file when uploaded, but will not play the videos.
I have an activex display that is custom-built and displays video from an IP camera. However it doesnt show on all browsers. I was then adviced to use flash/actionscript to stream a jpeg that the camera drops on a remote server with ip address (just example) 80.247.23.12/container/live.jpg.
However the file name is constant. how can i use flash to stream this live jpeg and make it appear like a streaming movie. I don't know how to go about this at all.
I've just stumbled upon a case when Flash app freezes in production Flash Player and works smoothly in a debug version. It doesn't throw any errors or exceptions. Has anyone ever encountered anything like this? Why is it happening or how one is supposed to debug in such case?And a side question - what exactly is different in debug version from internal point of view? Any good writeup on the topic?
UPDATE:I didn't mention, but the trouble is with Flash Player 11, it probably matters, cause Flash Player 10 doesn't have any problems with the same code.
I just finished with developing my application by Adobe Flash Professional CS5 and I wonder if this will be visible to iPhones 4 because support for Retina displays was added since CS5.5.
I'm interested in developing for the iPad and iPhone, but I'd prefer not to learn Apple's whole development stack (and good golly, I sure don't want to go back to manual memory management). Oh, sure, I could learn it, but I don't have that level of commitment to the environment at this point. I've got professional experience with Flex already, so I'm intrigued by Adobe's move to make Flash/Flex compile to the iPhone and iPad. My question is: how promising of a development path will Adobe's Slider be? Are we likely to see Slider publicly available in a reasonable timeframe (Adobe: "An early mobile branch of the Flex framework is expected to be available in 2010")? Are we likely to see reasonable performance? Are there development hurdles that haven't become clear yet? Heck, is it all just vaporware? There's pretty limited information available so far, as far as I've seen, but I'm interested in people's predictions, even if they're speculative.
I'm interested in building a thick client application for my existing web services that will run on the IPhone. Flash finally seems to be an option, so I thought about using Flex for client side development.
However, since flash apps are not natively supported by the IPhone, but only through a wrapper, I was wondering if these apps can persist any data. Data entered by the user should eventually be transmitted to the web service, but until then I want it to persist even if the Iphone should run out of power.
Is this possible? Or does the Iphone flash wrapper make it impossible to access the hard disk?
I am using a flash website template (basically stripped of 95% of the code they provided, and just using their graphics) from [URL] I needed to add streaming video, and I elected to use PHP streaming found on www.flashcomguru.com; as modified by lance of courierwebcasts [URL].
The problem I have is that when I use the scrubber.swf to play a video, updating variables and addresses as appropriate, it works fine. However when I take it and recreate every element of the player in a movie on the timeline of my template site, everything but the time counter works fine. It plays fine, it scrubs fine, etc.; it just always displays 00:00/00:00. I am guessing it has to do with variable definition or somethingbut it is beyond me... any help?
Here is just the bit that I am pretty sure is the issue;
When I run the flash player (from flashdevelop) the images are loaded and everything is fine.But when I run the swf from a browser the requests are sent (using chrome's tools for programers - network tab) but nothing is loaded. The size/content column shows 0/actual size of the file
I have a code here, that should save the stage to a file, but when I click the button that runs the function that has this code on the browser, it doesn't work. The window asking where to save is not shown.
