ActionScript 3.0 :: Add The Shadow Filter, Parts Of The Shape Get Transparent?

Feb 4, 2011

I have some code that builds a shape and adds a shadow filter. If I use a single call to make the shape, like drawRect() or drawRoundRect() all looks fine including the shadow. However, when I do something like:

Code:
shape= new Shape();
shape.graphics.beginFill(0xfffffff, 1);
shape.drawRect();[code]...

The boundaries of these draw calls do overlap each other. The final shape by itself looks fine. But as soon as I add the shadow filter, parts of the shape get transparent. I belief it has to do with the various draw calls within begin and end fill.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Drop Shadow Filter - Embed Cutting Off Edges?

Jun 18, 2007

I've dynamically drawn a gradient background on a little widget I've built (pulls in EPA/National Allergy Bureau climate data from a vendor, if you're curious), and I have applied an AS 2.0 drop shadow filter to the background. Standard stuff...except...

...I embedded the SWF using SWFObject and matching the dimensions of the widget stage exactly. And the left/right edges are cutting off. Are there any guidelines for using a background AS 2.0 drop shadow filter and accommodating the filter with the embed? It's a 10px (5px depth, 5px blur) 90-degree filter, and I left room on the stage for the 10px below the background. But the "edge" I expect to see on the embed isn't showing up.

Here's the filter code, BTW:

Code:
outlineShadow = new DropShadowFilter(5,90,0x000000,0.33,5,5,1,2,false,false,false);

Click Through Transparent Parts Of A Movie Clip?

Nov 13, 2009

I found an old post from January that suggested saving the original image as an SWF via Illustrator.  I tried it, but my clip is still registering clicks in transparent areas.

Here's a link.  [URL]

All I'm trying to do is allow the drawing to be dragged around the screen, but I don't want it to be clickable in the transparent areas where the green background shows through.

how to eliminate the pale cast that the transparent areas are making?  The background to the drawing shows totally transparent in Photoshop, but the boundaries of the movie are visible because the supposedly transparent areas of the movie are slightly masking the background.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Removing Parts Of A Shape (Destructible Terrain)

Does anyone know how to remove parts of a shape (in a movieclip) using actionscript? Something like reverse masking (where the opaque parts hide the image) or just actually modifying the shape. I've seen it done, but I have no idea how to do it. I've tried using masks, and I saw something about masking the mask but when using setMask() you cant mask a mask. Flash :: Transparent Parts Of Sprite Responding To Mouse Events

Jul 17, 2010

I'm making a puzzle game in Flash cs5/as3 which can have custom puzzle shapes. Basically, the user can draw basic protrusions of a puzzle. Then I create a black and white puzzle piece with a custom function like this var piece:PuzzlePiece= new PuzzlePiece(true,true,false,false); PuzzlePiece is a class that extends Sprite. The four arguments correspond to the four sides of a puzzle piece (up, down, left, right). If the argument is true, it means that protrusion should stick out of that side of puzzle piece. If it's false, it should have a hole on that side, so it fits the protrusion. I first attach the protrusions that stick out, then i flip the protrusions that stick in, attach them to a new sprite (in_part) and invert them with the following function:

Actionscript :: Fill Solid Color Into The Shape Of A Transparent PNG File?

Apr 11, 2012

For example, I have a transparent png file, the shape is a car.In the png file, I only draw the white border shape.Outside and inside the border are all transparent.

I want to use actionscript3 code to show the car object with different color, it means only fill color inside the border, and for the outside of the border, keep transparent.How to do that?

So far, the simplest workaround is to prepare many images with PhotoShop, but it's not good enough for me. When I have many shapes and use many colors, I've to prepare many many images.Add more details:(Because I'm using white border, you may not see the basic png file if your background of browser is white)

ActionScript 3.0 :: Semi-transparent Shape Stopping Mouse Events

Oct 3, 2010

I'm a bit boggled by a MouseEvent/layering problem.

I have a filled Shape, with alpha 0.5, on top of a Sprite. The Sprite has various MouseEvent listeners attached to it.

I'd like the user to be able to click on the Sprite. Unfortunately, Flash doesn't pass the events to the Sprite. (It does, of course, if the shape is unfilled.)

Is there any way to tell Flash to treat this object like an unfilled object, rather than a filled one, for the purpose of MouseEvents?

Actionscript 3 :: Draw Transparent Graphics Onto Transparent BitmapData?

Feb 5, 2012

I'm trying to draw PNGs onto BitmapData that is transparent.

I create my BitmapData like this (using ARGB for the color):

new BitmapData(width, height, true, 0x00000000);

And clean it by using the same ARGB value:

bitmapData.fillRect(bitmapData.rect, 0x00000000);

When I use copyPixels() to draw graphics onto the cleaned BitmapData, I get this result:

If I don't use ARGB for the BitmapData color, it works fine:

But I have to specify a solid fillColor, meaning I can't render what's behind the Bitmap.

How can I make my BitmapData transparent, but not have the above occur?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Remove Transparent Pixels From Transparent Png?

I am creating a map in flash cs4 with all the countries on it. I used photoshop for creating the map and separated countries. Now I imported all pngs in Flash and I want to give Mouse CLICK event and Mouse Hover on all pngs, but as the transparent pixels are overlapping the other states, it is getting difficult. So, I converted all pngs in movieclips and now then I broke up pngs. Now I want to delete all pixels having alpha 0 using eraser tool, as per the borders. And I have to do it manually for individual countries. So is there a way to remove transparent pixels from the bitmap data?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Transparent Png Not Acting Very Transparent?

Oct 6, 2009

I have two png's that kind of look like paint brush strokes. they have some transparency in them that lets the stage colour bleed through a bit.

I am adding two of these images to the stage in AS 3. One adds quite fine - looks as expected. The second one however doesn't have any transparency other than around its edges. What i mean is it looks more like GIF than a PNG. Rough around the edges, no transparency "inside" the image itself (where there should be)

i have tried re-creating the image (yes it IS a PNG) which did nothing. I ensured the library item is not being treated as a JPEG. I also even tried externally calling the PNG to see if that made a difference. Unfortunately it did not.

why this second PNG doesn't seem to have a transparency set?

Shadow In Swf Not Looking Right

May 26, 2010

I've got a placed png file in flash that is set to multiply for it's blending. It's a shadow.If I were to put an image below in the flash file it would look fine, however I'm having save it out as is and pass on to a developer who's laying the swf file over an image on a html page.When this is done the shadow looks bad as it's transparency fades through white, so when on a dark image in the html page it looks rubbish. Is there a way to achieve a good look as if the dark image was in flash? Should I be creating the shadows in photoshop differently?

Professional :: How To Create Drop Shadow

Sep 14, 2010

I'm using Flash CS5 on Macintosh.Googling has led me to maybe a dozen tutorials on creating a drop shadow in Flash, so I understand how the procedure is supposed to work. Select the object and then look for "Filters" and apply the "Drop shadow" filter. Simple enough.But it seems that you can only apply a filter to an "object." The things I've been trying to create a shadow on are of type "drawing object." Everything else I've tried to create or import has some other name, and none of them have the Filters menu.I'm embarrassed to have to ask about something that should be (and according to all the tutorials is) drop-dead simple, but I just don't see any way to create a drop shadow in Flash.
