Does anyone know of a component or tutorial for implementing a slot machine-like list similar to the interface component on the iPhone (example at URL...)? I did find one commercial component for flex at URL..., but am not sure how open this would be for modification (looks like it's a compiled SWC file in the example).

View 6 RepliesI'm building a top view 2D map, that it's objects are stored on the server.The kind of objects are 10 and might be a photo, label, button, lists, mix of them or labels with tooltips.The component must request the "areas" that are missing on screen.An area is 1000x1000 px and is cached in flex.To move in the map, will be like in google maps (drag-and-drop).I should be able to have another list and move objects from one to another using drag-an-drop on objects. Ex.: I grab an objects from a list and I move it on this map, I release the mouse button and the item is placed there.Now the problem is: I build a custom component for this trying to emulate the item renderer for performance and recyclage, implement drag-and-drop on objects and request the areas that are missing?

I extend the List component from spark and I add some features as multiple kind of itemrenderers and use recycle on them. Of course it must be able to request the missing areas on the screen and cache it's data.Maybe create a custom layout is needed too.What I need is something that must be really fluid, so the lighter this component is, the better.

Anyway I already begin to do this using a class that extends the SkinnableDataContainer and a custom layout. As the layout is not like a grid, is sparse, random items at diferent points(x, y).How to get the localX and localY, relative to item renderer and not to the Spark List, from a DragEvent in Flex 4?
Does anyone have any experience or examples of similar functionality to the Iphone's Picker View to the in Flash/AS3? I'm working on a touch screen flash application and would love to use something like this for a time picker, instead ComboBoxes, which are difficult on touch screens.

I am trying to make an application for the Playbook and this this my SpinnerList code:

No matter what, 'KM' is always shows as the selected item when it is not. This is what I have in the script tags:

Does anybody know of a good, free downloadable colorpicker component for as3? I don't want to use the one by jumpeye components, so I was wondering if their was a better free/cheap one. I really don't like the default colorpicker in the flash IDE.

listdata[i] = the array i want to populate the list box with..... (listdata1, listdata2, listdata3, listdata4, etc. etc.)
movieclip1 = the MC within my fla containing the list box component
mylist = the actual list component

there is a Picker example for usage in an ActionScript project. It works well in simulator. But how do you use that component in a Mobile Flex Project (with Burrito Flash Builder)? How do you add a qnx.ui.picker.Picker to a spark.components.View? The latter seems to expect a mx.core.UIComponent, but the former is a qnx.ui.core.UIComponent. The ActionScript project I've mentioned above works ok, because the Picker is added to the Sprite. But adding it to a View in a Mobile Flex project fails for me.

I have traced out the contents of the List MC and it has a child MC called 'content_mc'. I believe it's because when it reads the data from my topics list, it reads topic1.xml instead of "topic1.xml" ( reads without the quotes). If I unquote line v.list.load("subtopic.xml"), it works, but I need it to be loaded from the XML..

I am using a List component inside an itemRenderer. The main user interaction involves dragging an item from the List in one renderer and dropping it in another. My problem: When the data object is updated I want the Lists' height to be modified according to the number of objects in the dataprovider(dp), which is passed to the List from the data object. Now I have tried to invalidate the display of the List, refresh its dp and have tried putting this line assets.length > 0 ? assetList.percentHeight = 100 : assetList.height = 10; in other event handlers, such as dragdrop handlers, collection event handlers for the dp etc. I have also tried refreshing the dp for the List component that is using this renderer. The view does eventually get updated but only if I resize the list, or use the scroller or when I begin dragging a new List item but never after the drop.
