Dec 17, 2009I'm building a website which includes a news section that is updated via a CMS by my client.Each news article basically consists of a textfield made up of several paragraphs. was wondering if anyone knows of a way of "auto-detecting" any links within the textfield. Basically what I want to do is whenever the client enters a string within the textfield that starts with "http://" I want to dynamically add an eventlistener to that string and make it function as a hyperlink.I have tried several ways but as far as my knowledge goes one can only add a listener to a display object and a string within a textfield is not a display object, and even if I would change the url string to display object of its own, aligning it within the original textfield will be a nightmare.

Jun 15, 2009The default behavior for textfield, when up arrow is pressed is, the cursor goes to the beginning or first character. I would like to disable this and add custom behavior when up arrow is pressed. I am able to add the custom behavior but I am not able to stop the default behavior.

Mar 26, 2008I have an accordion component that contians 3 tabs...each tab contains a list...the first list is a list of exhibitor names...the second tab has a list with booth numbers...the third tab has a list with categories...I have a text field below the accordion that searches the lists and returns what it finds...however I do not want the user to be able to type anything when the 3rd accordion tab is open...is there a method to disable input on a dynamic text field? (in effect this would be "grayed" out like some menu options in windows sometimes are...

Actionscript :: Dropshadowfilter On Textfield Disables Html-links Inside
Aug 13, 2009When i put a dropshadowfilter on a dynamic textfield with html-content, the links (a href) stop working.The textfields rotate in flash 3D space so they have a transformmatrix applied to them. Could this be the reason? Anybody had problems with html-links and dropshadowfilter applied to the textfield? it makes no difference if you put the filter on the textfield itself or the movieclip container around it.

Feb 7, 2007When a user clicks on a URL, I want the new page to open up in a new window (or tab),instead of always in _self, which of course replaces the movie. I've trace'd the htmlText contents, and see TARGET="" where it's building the clickable links, which I assume the browsers interpret as the same thing as _self. Is there some better way to change the target for any URLs, short of doing a search and replace of the htmlText field

Dec 13, 2010I have developed a rolling credits style movieclip in Flash using Actionscript 2. Text is loaded from an XML file and parsed into a dynamic textfield. This text includes hyperlinks to webpages defined by a url node in the xml so Flash can add the appropriate a href to the dynamic text field and make the link clickable.
In my first attempts to do this the textfield stayed still and all the links worked fine both testing locally and when I run it in a browser on my website.Then I wanted to make things move ... which I achieved easily enough and tested locally (from within Flash Professional) and the links remained clickable, a browser window opened and the webpage i was expecting to see opened... great
However, when I export the swf, upload it and run it from my website suddenly the links are not working. So I tried to test the movie in a browser from Flash Pro - same problem, it must be something to do with Flash Player and the moving dynamic textfield.
a couple of observations - the cursor will change to a hand icon when over the links as you would expect, and if I right click on the link and click open in a new window the link works ok, just not when I left click. If I stop the scrolling then the links become clickable again, it is only when the textfield is moving... actually its not technically scrolling, im moving the whole textfield.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Slideshow With Links - Incorrect Links After 1 Replay?
Aug 17, 2011i created a flash slideshow with pictures of events and link each picture with its own event (ie. each pictures has its own links to the website). I created the fade in and fade out effect using the class motion tween. With the link, I created a layer with a button that has alpha= 0 (so the user don't see it) and then I used code snippet to make another layer with the action script "click to go to url."
When the slideshow goes to the last picture I made it fade out and the first picture of the slideshow would show up and then the slideshow would replay itself (by default?). My goal is to make a continuous slideshow.
When I tested the swf file, the first time it runs, everything is right. The urls and the pictures are in correct order. However when the slideshow replays itself automatically, I notice that the links are incorrect. In the first play, when I click the picture of the event it would open the url of that event.However when the sldieshow replays, clicking the pictures would only open the url of the first event picture. When I click on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.pictures the browser opens only the link of the first picture of the slideshow.

Apr 21, 2011I've got a PHP script that searches for links in a block of text and converts them to HTML values. The $message variable is then entered into my database using a simple INSERT. So far, so good. Then I have Flash parse the message using XML:

The problem, however, is that my links don't work. The rollover works from the CSS styling, but the links don't actually go anywhere. When I rollover the links, the hand cursor doesn't appear, and clicking only serves to change the color back to the non-hover value.
Coding - Links Linking To Wrong...links?
Sep 14, 2009I'm writing some code in Flash MX 2004 and everything works fine except for the last button (4DSystemsProducts).According to the coding if none of the drop down buttons work it should go to products.php, but for some reason it goes to 4DSystemsProducts.php. All of the other menus are coded the same way and work fine, if I take out that button it works fine,or if I take out button 7 and switch 4DSystems to button 7 everything works.Here is the code to clear up this explanation. Jun 14, 2011i would just like to ask why is the case that when i use embedfonts = true on a textfield, the textfield's text only resizes according to the textfield's height but not the textfield's width. meaning if i make the textfield's height bigger, the text also gets bigger in terms of height, but not width, can't the embedded font maintain aspect ratio according to the textfield height?
I'm only wondering about this because this is not the case when embedfonts= false
