I want to create a rotatable 3D model SWF, but I need to build it dynamically using PHP or some sort of scripting. The ideea is I need to make a dental arch, and depending on the variables, include all the teeth, or exclude the ones that are missing, and then show the final model.I have the models for all the teeth.
As it is said here: [URL] "If you do a Google search today for "MVVM and Flex", the first post is by somebody who claims that MVVM is not a good fit for Flex. I couldn't disagree more. Out of the box, the Flex framework makes it much easier to implement a Presentation Model than similar MVVM implementations in Silverlight. That is not to say that there aren't good third-party libraries that make it easier in Silverlight, but without any help, it is easier to do in Flex." So MVVM as LOGICAL CONCEPT can be implemented in both but the way it is implemented in Silverlight requires more Plumbing than Flex.
What prevents Silverlight MVVM to be implemented like Flex ? Doesn't Silverlight have same capability in event system to do the same? If yes why does Silverlight do things more complicated what's the advantages then ? Is it about using Class Interfaces which are more strongly typed? What are the disadvantages also ? For example as for implementing MULTIPLE VIEWS for 1 View-Model does Flex implementation make it also more obvious?
Can I import 3D models from Blender/3Ds MAX 2010 to Flash CS4?I would like modelling 3D models with a 3D software and then import them to Flash CS4 to animate.
Is there a way for me to convert a 3D model (.dae or .3ds) into a swf movie that you can orbit around it, like when you view a 3D model in photoshop using flash.
I have an Application with modules. Every Module lives for itself. There are no shared events or something between them.In my modules there is a datagrid and with a contextmen¼, the details of selected data opens in a popup window. The modules are controlled by an loalEventMap and a presentationModel as usual. If i closed the popup immediantly and open it again, all works fine, but if i change some data in the popup, close it unload my module and loade the module again, open the popup again, mate throw the following error[code]....
I've been asked to create a model of an airport. Very basic. No textures and only simple shapes to represent check in zones, stairs, restaurants etc. It needs to be able to animate from floor to floor in birds eye view and to the outside of the building at an eye level view. It will be an annotated clip that plays following a persons movements. It needs to be incorporated into an adobe air application. I'm not sure even what software i should use for this. bear in mind i don't have any experience with 3D packages like 3DS Max. I suppose its possible in Flash Professional but can imagine drawing it all being a bit of a pain, is there something out there more suited?
Im working with AS3 and in my application I have a base SWF (with its document class) main.swf / main.as
And I have several SWF that includes a video inside with some navigation code (some buttons that I code in individual classes for each SWF). The problem is that I cannot find a method to load the swf's right, because the event that triggers the load process happens in the loaded SWF (the child).
I would like to make some kind of interactive 3D model in flash.
In the image below you see a 3D model. It's just an example to explain what I have in mind. You see a red disc 1, a blue disc 2 and a pushbutton. The idea is that the blue disc rotates (for example 45 degrees) compared to the red disc when you push the button. Is that possible in a 3D model that you also can turn around with your mouse?
I can make the models in Rhinoceros 4.0, that's no problem. Importing the model into flash is also no problem (papervision). But how can I add some interactives to the 3D model like a pushbutton and a slidecard?
There are some open SDK for Flash, that could be done. Rotating photos with physics? Examples of such programs BumTop, ePic, Coloris (no physics). The photo on the plane, it can be moved to the real physics?
So I'm not 100% sure if it's possible, but what I'd like to do is take a model that someone has created for a game, say in Blender or something similar, in various formats, and from that create an image to show on a website. Are there any Java libraries around? Java3D maybe? Or even something in Flash? Ideally you'd be able to rotate the model in some embedded flash app, but I'd settle for a plain old image.
I have a Collada (.dae) file that I found on Google's 3d Warehouse. Using Away3d, I'm able to load the file and display it on my view using the following code:
The problem is that it's just floating out in space and no matter how I adjust the position via .x, .y, or .z, it never moves from its spot. I'm using Flash cs4 and the latest stable release from Away3d.
I want to show a box in 3d on my website, and I was thinking to do it in Flash. How I can show a 3d model?I need something very simple, it's a textured cube, no interaction required, just let the user pan and zoom. There is a 3ds viewer in flash or something like that?
I am working on an StoryBoarding application,it is a slide based application in which the authors can put several components like image , sound , captions etc in each of the slide.A collection of slides will make a storyboard. This application will be deployed on a web server (sharepoint + IIS , and php+apache), and several users can collaborate with each other for authoring or reviewing the storyboard. In my application I also want to support auto save ,which will keep on storing the state of the storyboard.User can also save at any point of time by clicking the save button.I am confused about how to store the state of the storyboard.
1)Presently I am doing this by passing all the storyboard data to a dot net web-service and then that service is storing images, caption etc in their respective tables into a database .2)Another approach possible is to store the model of the application as a serialized object into the db , which will be more convenient since separating the components of the model (like images, captions etc..) will not be required and also restoring the state of the objects in the application will be easy . I have two doubts about using approach 2 :-i) I want the the saved storyboard to load quickly, for which I would like to support the partial so that lighter objects like caption can be loaded quickly but other heavier objects like image, video etc can be loaded on demand. Using approach 2 , do I have to send the whole data in one go or is there way to support partial loading ?
In CSS, we have a box model to define how border, margin, padding, and fill contribute to the total width and height of a rectangle. I'm porting some of my HTML/CSS design into Flash and can't quite figure out what Flash's box model is. In Flash, I've created a rectangle with gradient fill and a non-scaling 1 pixel stroke. I'm trying to get pixel-perfect positioning and sizing, but the experience has been unpredictable. I'm not really seeing a pattern to the following questions. The answer really changes depending on the exact circumstances.
When you set x and y both to be 0, where does the border lay? Is it off the screen? Is it being cut in half by the origin? Or is it completely visible? When you set width to 100, is the fill 98 wide or 100 wide? What happens to the 1px thick border when the rectangle is not positioned at whole number coordinates?
Example:
var sh:Shape = new Shape(); sh.graphics.lineStyle(1.0, 0x00FF00, 1.0, false, LineScaleMode.NONE); sh.graphics.beginFill(0xFF0000, 1.0); sh.graphics.drawRect(0, 0, 100, 100);
[code]....
I tried to create a 100x100 square at x:10, y:10. When I measured the total width and height in Photoshop, it came out to be 101x101.One would either expect the final dimensions to be 100x100 (border on inside) or 102x102 (border on outside).
When the XMLListCollection is updated in the DataGrid, I want it to add the XML (bind it) into the Model. How would I do this? Or if not possible, how would I manually add XML into the Model?
This is a rough example of what I'm trying to do. Adding data to the DataGrid works fine; it just doesn't go into the Model when sending to the HTTPService.
My flex3 application downloads XML in e4x format from my web server, and and is left as a bindable XML object locally in my flex3 application. My visual objects then bind to various aspects of the XML object to display the data that I want.My simple program is getting more complicated, and I'd like to extend the XML object and add some functions to it, so I can keep the code that manipulates the XML object separate from my base application. Lets call this new object LoginXML.Can I please get an example of how to extend the XML object in flex3/as3 to create my own custom object with it's own functions. Part of my XML looks like
How to record my webcam with augmented reality. Lets start from the beginning, I have a webcam application that records to a streaming server. This application hasn't bin written by me unfortunately. I have added some new futures to this application, I have implemented augmented reality that positions a 3dmodel on the marker. This is working fine while it's recording. But it only records the webcam feed. How can I include my 3dmodel in the recording? Can I use BitmapData to capture the image of the 3dmodel and store this somewhere, for instance, in the Model class. So I can addchild it later at the location where the video is created and recorded, or is this totally the wrong way to go? It is recorded at a streaming server.
So I had been working on this issue where I couldn't get a swf to reload in the same state it was originally loaded. Well further testing leads me to believe that my Model class is being persisted over multiple sessons in the player. Here is my model class:
[Code]...
So when I fire up the swf the first time in the IDE's player, i get 'no previous instance' as you would expect, then I hit ctrl + enter to restart the swf in the IDE's player and I get 'destroying instance'. So this tells me that the Model instance is getting persisted over player sessions. Unless I am mistaken, and correct me if I am wrong, I would assume clicking ctrl + enter (i.e refreshing the swf in the player) would act like a new swf session.
I am looking for a model to organize my ui classes so that more than one class can apply to the same displayObject. Consider this example:
I have a AlphaButton Class extending from MovieClip that changes the alpha state on MOUSE_OVER and MOUSE_OUT.
I have a ScrollButton Class extending from MovieClip that holds actions to scroll a scrollbar.
I want to keep these 2 classes separate so that they may be reusable in other projects. But right now, I want a ScrollButton that has the AlphaButton interactivity.
like a lot of people on this forum i am having trouble with an MP3 Player. I have my music player, playing, stopping and going to next and previous. But i am now trying to display the time of how long its been playing for. I have a model class (containing the soundchannel, sound and timer) which has a songsModel class (an extension of model, which contains and update method)
I also have a controller class, which is in control of the people pushing the buttons from the songController class. The controller class plays the soundchannel and starts a timer. i have a songsController class which uses the constructor of the model class as a superclass. This class is controlling users pushing buttons. My other class is a view class, which waits for the model to update itself so that it can display the latest songs.
My problem is i cannot figure out how to pass through the timer to the view class for its latest update (every half second). I have managed to display it ever time the model updates as discussed above.
I'm working on an Augmented Reality project that requires an animated 3d model to be displayed. I've managed to far to get all the AR marker detection and whatnot working, but I've come to a dead halt when trying to load an animated model. I'm working in 3Ds Max 2011 for all the modeling and animating. The model is exported as COLLADA (using 3dsMax's own Autodesk Collada exporter) and embedded into the Flex project. I can export a model, and it does load into papervision...The problem is that an animated model, although it exports fine and produces no compile-time erros, gives me a run-time error about a call to a null object. This error is being thrown by papervision's animation classes but it really doesn't give too much information, I see no animations...
This is the error I get: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at org.papervision3d.objects.parsers::DAE/buildAnimationChannels()[C:UsersUserDesktopStuffTechFlashClassesorgpapervision3dobjectsparsersDAE.as:568] at org.papervision3d.objects.parsers::DAE/onParseAnimationsComplete()[C:UsersUserDesktopStuffTechFlashClassesorgpapervision3dobjectsparsersDAE.as:1496] at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction() .....
The class below is the Model in an MVC triad. It works fine when the businessUnits array is populated manually (see commented block in the constructor). However, when data is downloaded from a MySQL database using a php script, businessArray is NOT being populated and an error (see attached screenshot) is thrown. I know it is to do with 'listening/waiting' for the download to complete before populating the businessUnits array.
[URL]In this turorial you will see three 3D models turning around in a scene. You can turn the whole scene around with your mouse.Imagine that you replace the models by 2D pictures. It's easy to stop the rotation of the individual models (or 2D pictures). Is it possible to let the models always be pointed with the same side to the front? So if you turn the whole scene around with your mouse, the individual models (2D pictures) will always be with the same side to the front. Just as in a Tag cloud where the text is always readable.
Over the past few weeks I have been building a prototype application using a Flex front end connected to a J2EE backend using blazeDS. The prototype is an experiment to learn flex and see what its suitability is for a complex trading application requiring a large number of dynamic updates (i.e > 20 a second) via a pub sub type model. During some lightweight performance tests it's become apparent that I need to use multiple threads to ensure the UI remains stable when receiving a large number of updates from the server. All was going well until I discovered that flex has a single threaded programming model!
From a quick Google it looks as though there are numerous hacks to implement thread like behavior. I am sure many people must have been faced with a similar problem. Can people let me know: Are there any good threading libs that are well maintained etc Do other RIA technologies such as silverlight have the same problems. Why did abobe implement a single thread model? Are there any other tricks I can use to ensure my UI is stable.
i have a question about Zend Framework and mainly the model part. I know there is no abstract model class and understand why. I red a lot of blog posts about it, but couldn't find any example that would clearly explain it to me. I'm building a very basic application. Lets imagine we have just three tables.company(ID, name, street, streetNo, Town), meta(ID, name, description), company2meta(ID, companyID, metaID, value, note). All types of realtionship are there (1n n1, nm). The a need also services (amf) with Value Objects. So, here is what I think:
