ActionScript 3.0 :: Importing Animated Model Into Papervision

I'm working on an Augmented Reality project that requires an animated 3d model to be displayed. I've managed to far to get all the AR marker detection and whatnot working, but I've come to a dead halt when trying to load an animated model. I'm working in 3Ds Max 2011 for all the modeling and animating. The model is exported as COLLADA (using 3dsMax's own Autodesk Collada exporter) and embedded into the Flex project. I can export a model, and it does load into papervision...The problem is that an animated model, although it exports fine and produces no compile-time erros, gives me a run-time error about a call to a null object. This error is being thrown by papervision's animation classes but it really doesn't give too much information, I see no animations...
This is the error I get:

I need to convert a CAD drawing of a product into a form that is usable by Papervision3D (or an equivalent 3D engine) in the Flash Player.
Are there any tools that do this? I understand that the Collada DAE format is supported in Papervision3D, but I don't know what steps/tools are involved (export directly from AutoCAD?).
I have a DAE model that is parsed into several parts. I am able to deal with them separately, such as changing their material or colour but I am having problems adding click or hover listeners over the children. For example, lets say I have a model of a kitty where each facial feature is a child. I want to be able to hover or click the features and have a window pop up explaining the feature. I've tried parsing the model and adding listeners but it doesn't seem to work.
I have a client who wants some things in Papervision that I'm not sure how to do, namely: when the user clicks somewhere on a model, zoom the camera into that point.
I would use a tween engine to tween the camera forward, but as moveForward is a method, I'm not sure how I'd enter this data into a tweening call.
Can I import 3D models from Blender/3Ds MAX 2010 to Flash CS4?I would like modelling 3D models with a 3D software and then import them to Flash CS4 to animate.
I am new to Papervision, and am experimenting on importing animated 3ds max models into my project.I can export a model (with no animations) into Collada format, and import it using Papervision, with no problems. But when I try to import a model with animations, i get this error:[code]I am using Flash CS 4 / Papervision3D Public Beta 2.0 - Great White / 3D Studio Max 2009 (with the New Collada Plugin).
i created a 3d model using sketchup and exported it as a DAE file.
then i try to import the model into papervision, but the model never appear.
when i use the DAE file provided in the examples, it works. only when i tried to create my own models, it doesn't work. does this have anything to do with sketchup?
I've been trying to import animated gifs into Adobe Flash CS4 Professional to practice rotoscoping, but I can never get the gifs to work. I've tried importing directly to the stage and importing to the library and making the gif into a symbol and so on, and I can get the gif's frames to appear in the timeline, but once the gifs are in the file refuses to play. If I hit Enter and try to play it, nothing happens. If I try to test the scene or test the movie, I just get an swf that's stuck on the first frame in the gif. Does anyone have any idea how I can get gifs to work?(I'm using Windows 7 on an HP laptop with 6 GB of RAM. If I should be providing any other information, let me know.)
I am trying to build a portfolio application similar to the used by Whitevoid. I am using Flex 4 and Papervision3D 2. I have everything working except for one issue. When I try to load an external SWF as a material on one of the planes, I can see any native Flex or Flash components in their correct positions, but the papervision objects are not being rendered properly. It looks like the viewport is not being set in the nested swf. I have posted my code for loading the swf below.

Below I have posted two pictures. The first is a shot of the application running by itself. The second is the application as a MovieMaterial on a Plane. You can see how the button created as a spark object in the mxml stays in the correct position, but papervision sphere (which is rotating) is in the wrong location.

What prevents Silverlight MVVM to be implemented like Flex ? Doesn't Silverlight have same capability in event system to do the same? If yes why does Silverlight do things more complicated what's the advantages then ? Is it about using Class Interfaces which are more strongly typed? What are the disadvantages also ? For example as for implementing MULTIPLE VIEWS for 1 View-Model does Flex implementation make it also more obvious?
I have been tyring to export an animated banner, in animated.gif format. it's a simple animated text with no gradients. it should go on top of a graphic which has some gradients and is multi-coloured and with effects (the colours are similar to the one/i used in the page) as you can see here the text looks a bit funny.url...

That's several years I'm working with Flash, and today, i want to do the simplest animation ever, and it just doesn't work....I want to mask an animated clip with an animated mask (a shape animation), but every time the mask arrives at a keyframe, the clip restarts to the frame 1 !!I added a piece of code to see at which keyframe it is blocked, and at every mask keyframe, the code says 'TypeError: Error #1009: null property..
I am importing a picture in flash and i found out that there is a difference between importing to the stage, and importing to the library... [URL] I've placed both picture close of each other and if you look closely, you'll notice that one of them is losing some resolution. Both picture come from the same file, a png. The picture imported to the stage is sharper than the one imported to the library. is there a way to import that picture to the library without losing any resolution?
Im using an animated movieclip to create a pulldown menu..the thing is that I want to anymate the buttons inside the pulldown as well..so I therefore used a similar movieclip inside the pulldown menu to make this animation
I asked this question in papervision 3d forums, but nobody replied. So. I am writing a 3D application with actionscript 3 and papervision 3D. But I have stuck on one problem, I can't figure out, how to place skidmarks (decals?) on an object. The only method I can think of is drawing directly to BitmapData (texture). What would you suggest to draw a textured skidmark on ground (plane primitive)?
Is there a way for me to convert a 3D model (.dae or .3ds) into a swf movie that you can orbit around it, like when you view a 3D model in photoshop using flash.
I have an Application with modules. Every Module lives for itself. There are no shared events or something between them.In my modules there is a datagrid and with a contextmen¼, the details of selected data opens in a popup window.The modules are controlled by an loalEventMap and a presentationModel as usual.If i closed the popup immediantly and open it again, all works fine, but if i change some data in the popup, close it unload my module and loade the module again, open the popup again, mate throw the following error[code]....
I want to create a rotatable 3D model SWF, but I need to build it dynamically using PHP or some sort of scripting. The ideea is I need to make a dental arch, and depending on the variables, include all the teeth, or exclude the ones that are missing, and then show the final model.I have the models for all the teeth.
I've been asked to create a model of an airport. Very basic. No textures and only simple shapes to represent check in zones, stairs, restaurants etc. It needs to be able to animate from floor to floor in birds eye view and to the outside of the building at an eye level view. It will be an annotated clip that plays following a persons movements. It needs to be incorporated into an adobe air application. I'm not sure even what software i should use for this. bear in mind i don't have any experience with 3D packages like 3DS Max. I suppose its possible in Flash Professional but can imagine drawing it all being a bit of a pain, is there something out there more suited?
I have done globe in papervision - basically sphere + material (image of political map) over it.Now, I need to make every country on my globe interactive, what means, I need somehow create event listeners for lots (at least 15) of small areas on my globe, and if I click those areas, something will happen (say, additional info windowwill come out)I googled a lot and found a lot of things describing some realted stuff (hotspots?), but since I am quite new in flash/actionscript/papervision, could I, please, get some introductory idea how my problem might be solved?
I am trying to develop a game based on papervision and flash.the very basic idea of the game is that some 3D objects are falling from the sky and you have to catch them .. At a time there can be as many as 20 of such 3D objects on the stage.Now the problem is that these 3D objects are causing too much CPU usage .. I was hoping if there was another way to do the same thing and which causes less of performance issues ...
1.I have two classes suppose A and B
2.the class A calls class B
3.class B initiates a 3D sphere whenever it is called .. the Sphere has a bitmap image material .. and it rotates along the X axis on every enter frame event
4.class A has a timer function which moves the 3D object in the Y direction and also destroys it when the object reaches a specified Y position ..here are the code snippets ...

how to setup Planes with papervision, then retrieve them later?I've set up the 3d scene like this:

but none of these methods seem to work,, possibly because you can't do the same things to Planes that you can to movieclips...(?)the scene.numChildren seems to work though.
Im working with AS3 and in my application I have a base SWF (with its document class) main.swf / main.as
And I have several SWF that includes a video inside with some navigation code (some buttons that I code in individual classes for each SWF). The problem is that I cannot find a method to load the swf's right, because the event that triggers the load process happens in the loaded SWF (the child).
I would like to make some kind of interactive 3D model in flash.
In the image below you see a 3D model. It's just an example to explain what I have in mind. You see a red disc 1, a blue disc 2 and a pushbutton. The idea is that the blue disc rotates (for example 45 degrees) compared to the red disc when you push the button. Is that possible in a 3D model that you also can turn around with your mouse?
I can make the models in Rhinoceros 4.0, that's no problem. Importing the model into flash is also no problem (papervision). But how can I add some interactives to the 3D model like a pushbutton and a slidecard?
There are some open SDK for Flash, that could be done. Rotating photos with physics? Examples of such programs BumTop, ePic, Coloris (no physics). The photo on the plane, it can be moved to the real physics?
