View 2 RepliesI am using CKEditor in my website's CMS, which spits out an XML file of CDATA enclosed content to be read by flash. The problem is that CKEditor, when its enterMode is set to <p> tags, creates a line break and a tab in the source which, when read by flash, enters space, even though I have ignoreWhiteSpace set to true. Any way to prevent ckeditor from using this behavior?
EDIT:
I still want to keep any <p> tags entered from within the editor - I just don't want all the extra space / tabs that get added in the actual source. If I use the above method, my actual code will be modified. What I'm getting if I view the source is this:
<p>
Donec at erat nec tortor sodales tempus.</p>
(an enter, and either a tab or a bunch of space after first <p> tag, instead of:
<p>Donec at erat nec tortor sodales tempus.</p>
(no spaces or breaks after <p> tag in source and I believe this is affecting the presentation of the XML.
create a function in my program which trims away all the extra heading and trailing spaces in my input text field. I've just begun to learn actionscripting not long ago so I am not really proficient in it yet.
View 0 RepliesI put together an .html page using a photoshop jpg that I sliced into sections. I was asked to replace two graphics from the original .jpg file with animated content of the same size. Using my slices as a guide for size, I created the two animated graphics in flash and saved them out as .swf files. They are both the exact same size(px) as the static images. I opened my newly sliced html file in dreamweaver, deleted the static images and placed the .swf files.
For some reason the .swf files cause gaps in my html page. Tere are no borders on the .swf files and I can't figure what I've done wrong.
One note: It seems to only ad space when viewing from Mozilla. Havent' tested it on a pc yet either.[URL]

I am really tired of searching a solution to make my site to a fullscreen flash site..What i want to make is a site that fills the screen without extra spaces and all..The funny thing is it is working fine in swf but not in html..When viewed in html there is a big white space to the right..I have tried several solutions for this line making the html "width and height to 100 %" and scale mode to " noscale" It didnt work I tried changing the html code itself like this:-
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html>
<head>[code].....
It also didnt work.
how to make the slider disappear when you click (for example) on an extra button?
View 3 RepliesUsing the following code, I push data from an xml file into a classic dynamic text box that is configured to render text as html. For some reason there is an obscene amount of white space between paragraphs. I am not sure why it is there since I have already set it to ignore white space. How would I get rid of it?

I want to make a text box that will not allow spaces to be entered. Is there some actionscript to do this?
In other words, a user typing 'John Smith' would just display 'JohnSmith'.
I created a somewhat custom Spark button by doing the File > New > MXML skin and basing it on spark.components.button. The problem is that I need to add an extra text field to the button component and dynamically change that text...but of course, the property isn't recognized on a Spark Button.
Is there a simple way to add this field to my custom button skin & its property so it can be addressed? If not, is there a simple way to take what I've done and just extend the Spark Button? I can't seem to find any examples that show how to do it without writing it all up in ActionScript.
I'm slowly converting my older Director-made tutorials to Flash. The user inputs text, and then I evaluate it. Before this evaluation, I want to remove spaces to avoid the user's input being counted incorrect because of an extra space. How do I do this for Flash CS5?
Here's what I did for Director.

I made the following function to fade in and out four clips:
Code:
function fadeSq (clips, fade, speed){
while (clips.length){
clips[0].onEnterFrame = function(){
var fadeOut = fade - this._alpha;
[code]....
and I'm calling the code this way:
Code:
this.fadeSq ([btn_about_us, btn_Products, btn_product_codes, btn_contact_us], 0, 3);
As you al can see am I using underscores in the call back function, which I don't want because I want to display the information in a dynamic textfield. But when I leave open spaces I get all kind of errors. How can I prevend this?

I use XML which has HTML text embedded in it. When i m displaying this text in Flash it gets displayed with spaces I m using AS 3.0,I have also used
<Xml_Variable>.ignorewhitespaces= true
but still not working
Is there a way to eliminate additional spaces in text variables? Example: The forum already eliminate the spaces. Imagine that "_" is space on the following sentences:
text = "__________KirupaForum______is_the__best____Flash_ tutorial____site_of_the___World_______"
Eliminating spaces...
text = "KirupaForum_is_the_best_Flash_tutorial_site_of_th e_World".
I have been trying to get this working right for days and it is driving me crazy. It should be very easy, so I'm not sure what I'm missing.
I'm loading in an external text file, which is fine, but the problem is with how it is displaying.
It should look like the attached word file. But when I paste it in a text file it gets messed up. A sample of that is attached as well. I have tried making it look the same in the notepad file, but that doesn't come out right in the flash.
I have tried everything, importing as html, using xml files, copying the text into different programs and then into the text file.
how to do the text effect where the lines tween together one by one (the spaces reduce), check [URL]
View 1 RepliesJust to give you a little background, I am using CS4 and AS3, publishing to FP9. I am embedding fonts dynamically at runtime and there seems to be an issue with my dynamic 'html' text field when I have <b> tags within the CDATA.
In some cases, Flash seems to be rendering the bold text too close to the preceding character. Sometimes, even overlapping the preceding character. For the most part, this appears to be happening when the bold text appears at the end of the line before the text is wrapped.
I will note that, any text in the xml file wrapped in <b></b> tags is actually appearing bold, so I don't think it has anything to do with font embedding. In case it does, here is how I am embedding the font groups:
// Semi Bold
[Embed(source="/fonts/Anvers/AnversSemiBold.otf", fontName="AnversSemiBold", fontWeight="normal", fontStyle="regular", advancedAntiAliasing="true", mimeType="application/x-font")]
public static const ANVERS_SEMI_BOLD:Class;
I have a text box that is about 300 pixels wide and can't be any wider. I also have a lot of text, so wordWrap and multiline are set to true. Works great! Only problem is that the text wrapping creates a lot of unused white space in the right margin of the box. This white space takes up a lot of room and looks kind of rough.
Is it possible to have Flash automatically hyphenate the text in the box to avoid the big white spaces along the right edge of the box?
I need to trim away away all the extra spaces that a users types into my input text field. I know that there are a few ways possible, but i'm not sure how to go about doing it.
View 5 RepliesIm still relativly new to bringing in xml to flash, but i have read some tutorials and other pages on it. Everything is working fine except for the fact that all the text that isnt an attribute as lots of extra spacing infront of it. I made sure my i set ignoreWhite to true but it still is cuaseing those spaces.
View 3 RepliesWell I have this dynamic textfield on stage, and it receives a String using FileReference.name. So far, so good.
I wanna know if it's able to make flash 'cut' some extra text from long strings and show ellipsis instead.
I mean, if it receives "ABCDEFGHIJ", if the string exceeds the textfield width, it would show "ABCDE..."
I'm using flash cs5... I've made a file uploader and it works great, only problem is it makes this textLayout_1.0.0.591.swf file (in addition to my actual swf)... is this really necessary? I have an embedded font that I think is putting this here and the whole thing doesn't work unless this swf is here.
View 2 RepliesI've just took the K-tutorial "News Ticker" for a spin and everything worked fine. ([URL]) I have only one problem: I want to add an extra text field called "time". This extra field is been extracted from the XML file:

When applying text formatting to a comboBox, the text formatting appears perfectly on the dropdown menu items but the textField text disappears.Removing the text formatting from the textField makes the textField text reappear but of course there is no text formatting.
Is there a trick to this.
I have the following code:
Code:
this.createTextField ("imageText",2,95,0,390,96);
imageText.multiline = true;
imageText.wordWrap = true;[code].....
The problem:If I uncomment either of the imageText.embedFonts lines, my text will disappear... but the trace(imageText.text); will still return the correct contents. It's as though embedFonts causes the textField to disappear.Possibly related, (but maybe not), is the fact that the vertical positioning of the font is off. Even though I create the textField at Y = 0, the text writes somewhere around Y = 10. I suspect this is something else, but I thought I'd add it just in case.
I have a project I am trying to put together that includes closed captioning with a scrollbar (standard flash component). In my navigation file I have a text box with a dynamic text box with _level10.ccText as the Var
I have a series of pages that get called into a level below the navigation file. On each of them I have code in an actions frame _level10.ccText = "text text text text";
The text displays fine in the text box but when I scroll down the scrollbar scrolls down too far. The text gets to the end and the scrollbar is only about halfway down the bar. If I keep pushing the down button or drag the slider it will go all the way down but my text doesn't move. Its almost like there are extra lines somewhere that it is trying to scroll to.
I'm trying to remove extra space from a textfield that uses HTML text:
[Code]...
I'm using loadVars to import text from a text file and then put it into a dynamic text field - rendered in HTML. There is an extra space in the first line of text for some reason. I've checked the dynamic text field and theres no spaces or returns in it - its empty before putting the text into it.
View 2 RepliesFor some reason, the data that is getting loaded into the text box is adding:
<TEXTFORMAT LEADING="0"><P ALIGN="LEFT"><FONT FACE="Arial" SIZE="20" COLOR="#005A80" LETTERSPACING="0" KERNING="0">undefined</FONT></P></TEXTFORMAT>
quite a bit of information. I'm not sure why. You can see it here... For some reason, its only doing it to one of the text boxes..
HTML Code:
<param name="FlashVars" value="flaPath=rtmp://66.135.60.21/carnegie/240308.flv&skinPath=http://newmediamill.com/pr

So I'm building a little contact form in flash and it works, but it is passing along all of the font styling information into the email sent to the client. Kind of annoying. I want it just to send the plain text.
Here's what I'm using:
This code is in the actionscript, picking up the input text fields and posting them to the PHP file. It also tells a status box to update with current info:
Code:
loadVariables("send_email.php?flashmo=" + random(1000), this, "POST");
message_status.text = "sending...";
var i = 0;
