imageVars.load("images.txt");
imageVars.onLoad = function(success:Boolean) {
//do stuff here with loaded variables

ActionScript 2.0 :: Load Multiple Variables Separated By Enter?

Sep 10, 2008

I need to make something like login component... but only with "number codes" (not USER and PASSWORD). The user must insert a codenumber (let's say: "aHnjk68"), and, if this code number is in a txt file, then go to some frame, ok? Now, I use something like that (without using a TXT file):

on (release) {
if (codenumber eq "YujK3" or codenumber eq "KienK7") {
_level0.gotoAndPlay(215);

[Code]....

is there a way to make flash load or search for 1 of the numbercodes in the TXT? And when flash find the value (or numbercode) then go to some frame.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Reading Text File With Multiple Variables?

Dec 29, 2010

When I open a text document containing 1 string of a Base64 Encoded Image, it works fine:

ActionScript Code:
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.utils.ByteArray;

[code]...

The image displays and that's great, but I need to display multiple images; therefore, I used the standard format: var1=value1&var2=value2&... (In reality, the values are the huge base64 strings.) Then I just needed to add "my_loader.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES;" since the format of my source changed. The thing that bugs me is that I'm tracing the imgB64Str after I set it and it traces fine (just like the other version).

ActionScript Code:
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.utils.ByteArray;

[code]...

It runs with no errors, but the image no longer displays.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Send Off Multiple Variables In An Object (from A Class) To The FLA File?

Feb 13, 2009

I have the livedocs wide open and I still can't figure out how to send off multiple variables in an object (from a class) to the FLA file...[URL] The setup: I have a class that extends EventDispatcher. I created an Object called _pass, public var _pass:Object;. In my last function (everything is cool up until now), I have four variables that need to be passed to the main fla. Let's say they're param1, param2, param3, param4.

It was explained to me that I could use the public var _pass:Object; by first creating an instance of the object like so, _pass = { param1, param2, param3, param4 }; (each param is available in the function). Having setup an object instance, I could then dispatch the object to read from within my fla: dispatchEvent(new Event(Event.COMPLETE));.

But I get these errors:

1084: Syntax error: expecting colon before comma.
1083: Syntax error: rightbrace is unexpected.

As the livedocs show, you can use an associative array (with braces and a colon), but I don't need that. I just need to pass my variables that are pre-made to the FLA.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Function With Two Variables To Load SWF File

Jan 11, 2010

I'm working on a function that checks for 2 things to pull up the correct .swf file. I have to check for 2 things
·_global.theYear
·_global.theDate

Is there a different way I could write this function to say something like:
checkAll(_global.theYear, _global.theDate) = function(){
loadMovie(_global.theYear,_global.theDate".swf", 1);
}

So when a button is pressed, it runs the function above and fills in the variable. Names in the .swf name, does that make any sense, am I on the right track? Because all the .swf file names are all consistent such as 2009_18.swf, 2007_5.swf., etc. The only problem I see is there are 2 sets of buttons, one when you press it sets the _global.theYear variable and the other sets the _global.theDate variable.

So would one button look like this:
mybtn.onPress=function(){
checkAll(2008,_global.theDate);
}
And the _global.theDate would be set with what the current var is set at as?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Load Variables From Internet File?

Jul 20, 2011

I have a dynamic text box on my scene, and I have tried the following code:

Code:
var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
loader.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES;
loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loading);

[code]....

This doesn't work, although if I put the vars.txt file in the same directory as the flash file it's fine.

Code:

loader.load(new URLRequest("vars.txt"));

Is there a way to load the vars.txt through the internet?

Actionscript 3 :: JavaScript - Assign Variables On File Load?

Sep 10, 2011

I am making an audio player app that collects variables based on javascript running on the page. By default it loads 2 mp3s, but I need to be able to re-assign the mp3s that it loads based on different javascript clicks.

I think what I want to do is assign the default 2 songs to variables on file load. Then call a function that re-assigns those variables to the javascript variables passed in. My question is - how do I create a function that only runs on initial load? I assume I could then use javascript to call a different AS3 function to stop the player, re-assign the variables, load the file, and then start it again.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Load Variables From Popup Script/file Upload?

Nov 12, 2009

I've searched, but I don't believe flash (actionscript 2.0) itself offers a "select filefield" and fileupload functionality?

That's why my swf has a button which opens a popup window. In the window the user has the ability to upload a file to the server. That's no problem.

But I would like to send the filename back from the popup to the swf. How on earth can I manage that?

I can't use Loadvars.sendAndLoad in the swf because then my visitor does not see a popup and can't select the files. Loadvars.load doesn't work in popup?

Flash :: Load Multiple Videos In A Single File?

Jan 25, 2011

I have a swf file, which plays 6 videos one after the other in a loop. This file is very huge so it is taking more than a minute for it to start playing after the page finished loading. I have taken the original video file, and split it into 6 files. I plan to have 6 tiles in the flash file as soon as the page loads, and when some tile is clicked, the video is loaded dynamically only that video or swf file so that it saves the loading time and once this is done, i want it to revert back to the main page with tiles. I am just starting off with flash and I have no clue how this is possible in flash. I am not asking for code, i need some tips to get started.

Load And Retrieve Multiple Data Fields From Text File

Aug 25, 2010

I've been trying to work on a web portal for updating a website I am creating. I originally duplicated a write-to-.txt php script and duplicated it for each of my pages, but for some reason it isn't working out very well as I assume they are fighting with each other. I am looking into creating what I assume is called an array, so that I can store 5 separate data pieces in one text file but I can't seem to find a tutorial that is close to this. the closest I can find is a guestbook tutorial but it is very out of date. I would like to be able to store multi-line text (so that paragraphs and breaks are preserved) from 5 different input boxes and then retrieve that data upon loading of the input boxes and in a different page which would be the actual content of the website.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Multiple File Preloading By Passing It An Array Of Files To Load?

Jul 15, 2006

I wrote this script a while ago and it's worked extremely well for me ever since. I use it in nearly every project I do. But the other day I was asked to do a project where I could only use Flash 7.

This is a class I made to easily handle multiple file preloading by passing it an array of files to load. It only has two useful methods. One gets you the current total progress (total of all the files 0-100%) and an onLoadComplete. The actual usage is in the top of the file. It works great under Flash 8, so go ahead and use it.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Defining Variables - Unique To Load SWFs Instead Of Declaring All The Variables

Mar 21, 2012

I have an empty SWF that's sole purpose is to call loadMovieNum and start the project. Each loaded movie has a few variables defined within them - unique to those loaded SWFs. Instead of declaring all the variables in each SWF can I declare all of them in one place, in the first frame of the empty loader it all starts from? I'm thinking I can then declare a variable which each loaded movie can increment as needed for me.
