and i use firefox, which blocks flash from opening a new tab. I read around internet, and i find out that it may be possible to make it work with javascript.
Clicking the button sends the text to a backend server where it does a profanity filter.I'm using an event listener to get a response from the back end. If there is no profanity, the swf does a navigateToURL.Unfornetly the url request is blocked by many browsers.When I skip the profanity filter and the navigateToURL is fired in the MouseEvent function then it doesn't get blocked
View 9 RepliesI have come across the problem where If i am using firefox and in fullscreen mode, any link i try to go to, using navigateToURL or even and ExternalInterface.call end up getting blocked by firefox. When i click the same link if I have not gone into fullscreen the links work fine. I have tried a few things but have come up empty. ( having the button exitfullscreen then making the link call being one )
Has anyone else come across this problem? It only happens in firefox, IE and Safari the links work in fullscreen fine.
I'm working on a website in php made for local Thai people. The website somehow uses links with Thai characters in them. The problem is when I click the link in flash it navigates to instead of "http://localhost/THAI TEXTS-108-0-region-3.html". When I tested this with Internet Explorer, it understands the unicode text in a link and navigate me to the correct link. In fact the flash understands the thai unicode characters because when I tried to create a dynamic text field, it could print out the correct thai characters on the flash.So it seems to be that this is the problem with flash failing to talk to Firefox API. I'm guessing either URLRequest object or navigateToURL function does not take unicode texts

my intro movie is supposed to open the main website when it is finished playing. it does open the main site, but in a new window and pop up blockers have to be disabled for it to work (Internet explorer and fir fox). here is the code i used for the flash intro.

I'm playing an flv file inside flash player (swf). I want to open a pop-up window if user clicks the movie. I'm calling a js window.open function from the flash file (by onRelease event), but the bloody IE pop-up blocker blocks my pop-up. What can I do in order to pass this pop-up blocker?

My application pops up help windows outside of flex on several occasions. I need to warn the user to allow pop ups from my app if they have the pop-up blocker on. Does anyone know how to determine this from inside of flex and then how to have the browser pop up the "allow pop ups from this site" thing after that?

What I was wondering is, is it possible to detect that within flash and play a movie if a popup blocker is enabled? I need to forewarn folks that certain areas of this flash site require popups and that they have them blocked currently.

And it worked! It bypassed all the browsers popup blockers, but it brought in some new problems. Every time the .swf loops. The addeventlistener adds a listener. So if the .swf loops 5 times it will open 5 windows when I will click it. I've tried to use removeeventlistener but with no success so far. In the code without the popup bypass this problem didn't occurred. Probably due the new URLRequest. But I don't know how to use this in the javascript. The other problem is the string of the link. For some reason javascript deletes parts of the link when there is an question mark in it. Example:

I came across the following javascript code that creates a fullscreen pop up window from a rollover button (html/javascript) that appears to be unaffected by popup blockers in IE (or at least on my computers it's unaffected). However, when I adapt the button code to actionscript for use with a flash button it starts to trigger the popup blocker. figure out the correct actionscript to make this work without being blocked?

works perfect on my macbook pro (safari, firefox, and opera) but when I view the site on Vmare Fusion Windows XP and use IE and FireFox the pages don't load... I don't know what to make of this. Has anyone hear or seen anything like this happen before? BTW the website was created in Adobe Flash CS4/ AS 3.0 and published using Flash Player 10.

View 8 Repliescurrently i have the main scene and within this scene i have a button with the value bg_src Also in the scene is a movieclip containing several frames, each frame with a different image and stop();, a different button simply tells this movieclip to go to the next frame, the last frame in that movieclip returns it to the first frame, so it will continuously loop through the images when the button is clicked, one image at a time.
Problem i am having is that i want the button with the value bg_src to link to the original source of the background images when it is clicked, whilst remaining part of the main scene and not within the movieclip.
lets assume image1 was [URL] and image2 was [URL] clicking the background change button would switch the background image to the second image, and the background source button would then, instead of opening a new page to[URL] when clicked, would then open a page to [URL]instead.

I'm having problems with my animation getting cut of by my navigateToURL code. What is supposed to happen is,If you click on "buttonBtn" it triggers a animation. At the end of the animation it is supposed to stop and bring up a url. I've used gotoAndPlay ("frm") and navigateToUrl. Each time I test it in the browser the animation will begin, but the url comes up before the animation is finished. How do I allow the animation to play all the way through and then retrieve the url?

i've created a flash animation with as3. at the end of the timeline i've got a stop(); action on the last frame which is working just fine. on the following frame i have the navigatetourl action navigateToURL(new URLRequest [URL]} for some reason which i've been incapable of figuring out it will not automatically flip to the page i have written in my action when the animation has finished playing.

I'm kinda new with Flash but I've managed to create a menu for a homepage. Now when I click on one of the menu links - the page opens up in a new window. But I don't want that at all. I want the page to open up in another frame called mainframe. I've tried a number of things already; changing from "mainframe" to "_mainframe" and back, trippelchecking that the frames name really is mainframe so there's no typo. I've also changed the name of the mainframe both in the htmlfile and the code but that didn't work either.

On a game we just completed in Flash Builder 4, there are a couple of links like this:

IE 7 in some installations is treating this as a popup. Firefox 3.6, Chrome 5, Safari 4 all fine.

This works great with CS4 but when I stated using CS5 and exported my swf files, it stopped working. It seems that its trying to find the page over the internet and not the local directory anymore.
I'm fairly new to actionscript. I have created a flash banner ad that is now hosted on a site. Whenever somebody clicks the banner IE responds witha a "pop-up blocked"!

Where "clicky" is a SimpleButton that covers the entire flash. clickTAG is passed as an argument as to where to navigate. If I allow pop-ups everything works as it should! Howvere disabling pop-ups shouldnt be needed - and i see that other flash ads on the site works without and pop-up warning.

Now, depending on which button you click, it will take you to a different url. My problem is, with the code I have, the animation gets cut off before it's finished and goes straight to the url. I know I need some type of listener or something to watch for the end of the animation before going to the url. I can't seem to figure out what that code is or where it needs to go. Also, my animation is not in a movie clip. It's all in Scene 1. I've got the following script in the first frame of the actions layer.
