I'm making a gallery for some flash banners that I had created in AS3. When I click on a "launch" button, I wanted the flash banner swf to open in a new window separate from the parent swf (the gallery). I also wanted the parent swf to remain open. Is this possible and what would the code look like for something like this?
View 2 RepliesI am trying to figure out how to open a pop up window in my Air application, in a secondary Window, instead of the main application window.I am using the ReusableFX components, which include a custom DataGrid with filtering and other capabilities. The filtering feature displays a pop up window via PopUpManager when you click on the top of a column in the grid.
PopUpManager.addPopUp(this, FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication as DisplayObject);
The problem is that the pop up window opens in the main application - I am assuming because of the 'topLevelApplication' reference.So, I need a way to open this window in the current Air "s:Window". I am assuming I need a way to walk up : this.parent.parent or this.owner.owner - though I have tried that and it did not seem to work (it said null reference).OR, is there a way to get the current top most window / component (NOT the main application / window)?
Update:I decided to create a new project for the component, and add in the Air libraries. Now I am able to access the "NativeApplication.nativeApplication.activeWindow" call. That gives me the correct Air window. However, it does not seem to be working:
PopUpManager.addPopUp(this, NativeApplication.nativeApplication.activeWindow as DisplayObject);
My popup does not appear. I am assuming because "activeWindow" is not actually a DisplayObject?(so how do I get the DisplayObject if that's the case?)
1) how do you open a new window if you have thumbnail pics in the flash movie but want the full pic to open up in a new window? Is this Javascript inside flash?

I work with 3d animation. Im have a problem with a personal website Im doing, I have a link in a button inside a flash movie to open a new window and play a youtube movie:

This works fine in Firefox but in IE it doesnt work, I then change the /v/ in the youtube link with /p.swf?video_id= and now I have the window open showing the small youtube thumbnail of my video but once a click play, nothing happens, I check it and is not loading anything.
I'm trying to create a pop up window in Flash which also fades the background window to 75% black. When the user closes the pop up window, I'd like for the parent window to un-fade back to normal. Is this possible? I can do the first half of it and make the background window fade to 75% black. The difficult thing is making it fade back to normal when the user closes the pop up window.My thoughts are that I need to attach some code to the browser's built in close window button. It might require some javascript or a fscommand. I'm not sure.

In Flex Air app, how do you open a window behind an active one?

With this code, I would expect window1 to open behind the main app window and, in 3 seconds, window2 would open behind window1. But if you execute this, window1 will open on top of the main window and window2 will open on top of window1 and the main app will retain focus. This seems like a bug in the Flex. If so is there any workaround for this problem?

I'm new to flash and can not find an answer to what I would think is simple. I may not be searching for the right thing. Anywho... I am creating an flash presentation. I want to open a swf file in a new window. I know how to load them inside the current window, but that won't help. I searched the web and found: getURL("name.swf", '_blank') but that does not work. Thinking it may be as2, and my file is as3.

I'm sure you all have seen this effect. In a photo gallery, the user clicks a thumbnail, the screen darkens, a white box resizes to the size of the larger image and the full-size image loads...all without opening a new window. I'd like to do the same with a .swf.

View 1 RepliesI have a flash slide on my site. The slide has next and previous buttons to either move to the next slide or the previous slide. Each slide is only an image. When you click a particular image it takes you to the page specific to the image you clicked.
My issue is this: When you click the image, it opens the page in a new window. I would like to have the window open in the same window, but having issues figuring out how to do it.
The flash is controled by an image.xml script. I've added target= "_blank" to the xml, but the URLs are still opening in a seperate window. I didnt create the flash, is it possible the issues lies within the .fla file?
