I am using code like this to call video displaying swf. Inside Menu.fla I wrote the below code to call CFStarVideoAS.swf.

I have to unload Menu.swf, which is the first swf running.
My colleagues were using unloadMovieNum(0) with as1.
I tried mLoader.unload for a trial in as3 but not works. I read from some article that unload will work but don't know how and where to insert it.

I bought one of those templates, and i was able to get around most of the stuff. But one last thing that I have issue with is that there is an AS2 script for a button, where you can change the page that you want to be updated. But every time that I click that button, it opens the new page. but then if I use the same button in the new page, and click on it, another page will open and that current page will get closed.

The navhelp_btn is located on the main stage and the navhelp movie is in the library and gets loaded to an emty mc on the main stage holder_mc. I want to close the navhelp movie using a close button that I created and is housed in the navhelp movie.
I am making a flash application and I am trying to find function to use when I press the close button of the projector window. I dont want to make a button that uses fscommand("quit") since this would be impractical knowing that a default close button on the window is already available. Anyway the purpose of the function is that when I close my application, a dialog box/message would appear as a reminder that some data has not yet been saved and give the user an option to save or quit the application.
View 2 RepliesI am trying to figure out how to open a pop up window in my Air application, in a secondary Window, instead of the main application window.I am using the ReusableFX components, which include a custom DataGrid with filtering and other capabilities. The filtering feature displays a pop up window via PopUpManager when you click on the top of a column in the grid.
PopUpManager.addPopUp(this, FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication as DisplayObject);
The problem is that the pop up window opens in the main application - I am assuming because of the 'topLevelApplication' reference.So, I need a way to open this window in the current Air "s:Window". I am assuming I need a way to walk up : this.parent.parent or this.owner.owner - though I have tried that and it did not seem to work (it said null reference).OR, is there a way to get the current top most window / component (NOT the main application / window)?
Update:I decided to create a new project for the component, and add in the Air libraries. Now I am able to access the "NativeApplication.nativeApplication.activeWindow" call. That gives me the correct Air window. However, it does not seem to be working:
PopUpManager.addPopUp(this, NativeApplication.nativeApplication.activeWindow as DisplayObject);
My popup does not appear. I am assuming because "activeWindow" is not actually a DisplayObject?(so how do I get the DisplayObject if that's the case?)
I've messed around with XML+FLASH menu systems (downloaded from various Flash resource sites) on a novice level . As in, I know how to modify the XML file to have the content I want and where to rename the XML file in the FLA if need be. But I've never had to actually manually modify any functions within the FLA before. I'm really green when it comes down to diggin' within the Flash coding. The effect I'm trying to create is I want to position the GameStage so that the currently selected soldier appears in the center of the GameClicker clip.The GameStage is movable by the player (to scan other areas of the map)by holding the CTRL key, so it's easy to kinda lose track of where your players are.I have tried using localTo Global and globalToLocal techniques, but I think I'm lost on the actual math of getting the GameStage to move the correct distance so that the selected soldier is centered to the GameClicker.[code]

This works fine in Firefox but in IE it doesnt work, I then change the /v/ in the youtube link with /p.swf?video_id= and now I have the window open showing the small youtube thumbnail of my video but once a click play, nothing happens, I check it and is not loading anything.
I got a "preloader" that creates an movieclip and loads an SWF. Now in the loaded SWF i want a close button to go back to the "preloader". At this point I am working on getting an error message to appear when the user enters incorrect data in one of the textfields. I have a MC which contains my error message as well as a button. The button will move the MC back off of the stage. Everything works up to the point where I click the nested button. I suspect there is a problem in referencing the parent MC from the button.Here is the code for the entire project. I am sure there are more than a few errors since I am relatively new to AS

I have 2 child movieclips nested into one working parent movieclip, then the parent movieclip is animated. The nested working parent movieclip should move to the side once a child movieclip is clicked. Currently, the parent is unaffected by clicking on a child movieclip. What gives?

I have a parent MC with all my content called GUI_MC, and on my timeline I have a Frame labelled "PAGE"
Within the GUI_MC I have a another MC for my navigation (NAV_MC)
In NAV_MC I have a button which I would like to gotoAndPlay the frame "Page" on the GUI_MC

i have a nested swf that functions just fine.i have a parent swf (that holds the nested swf) that has a button (not related to functions of nested swf) that no longer works when combined.the button is simply a link button to a url... is there a very simple solution to this?

myHeight adjust the footer to drop down to fit the height of the mc
newLoc is the frame # in the contentHolder mc
these work perfectly.
my issue is i've now got a button in the contentholder mc, not the main mc, that i need to do the same two functions. since the actionscript that these call lives in the main mc i assumed i could just use _parent:

I'd like to create a button in FlashMX which, when pressed will open a PowerPoint file. I came across a tutorial on how to use the FSCOMMAND "exec" to trigger a batch file which then triggers the PowerPoint file. This however did not work... If I double click on the batch file, the PP file will open as required so it seems to be the command in Flash that's causing a problem.
