Aug 26, 2010
What i am trying to do is..i am loading one swf into my current swf. The loaded swf has a close button like we have in windows. i have applied fscommand(quit) to the loaded swf. BUT when i am clicking the close button the whole application is getting closed. i want the swf to quit ONLY and not the whole application.

I am making a flash application and I am trying to find function to use when I press the close button of the projector window. I dont want to make a button that uses fscommand("quit") since this would be impractical knowing that a default close button on the window is already available. Anyway the purpose of the function is that when I close my application, a dialog box/message would appear as a reminder that some data has not yet been saved and give the user an option to save or quit the application.

I am trying to close a movie clip that I loaded from the library to the main stage using the flowing code....
navhelp_btn.onRelease = function() { attachMovie("navhelp", "holder_mc", this.getNextHighestDepth(), {_x:195, _y:135});}
The navhelp_btn is located on the main stage and the navhelp movie is in the library and gets loaded to an emty mc on the main stage holder_mc. I want to close the navhelp movie using a close button that I created and is housed in the navhelp movie.

I'm creating a very, very basic AIR application which mainly just needs to check if a given FMS is up and running. To do that, I'm simply connecting to the FMS and after a successful connection, disconnecting to free up the connection slots. All is repeated at some interval. This is like a monitoring tool.
However, looking into the admin panel (Influxis) I can see that the number of active connections is ever growing, even though I'm calling close() on the NetConnection instance every time.
Also, adding a timer to trace the netConnection.connected value outputs always "true", after the close() function has been called.
I'm not creating any NetStreams, nothing.

[URL]I have: main.swf (a menu) and I have module.swf (content)If you navigate to Subsea Wellhead Systems/SS-15 BigBore II and click on that I have it load an external swf which covers most of the parent. So far so good. My problem is unloading the loaded 'Child' swf with the button provided on the loaded 'Child' swf.below is the code I used to load the file but I cant, for the life of me, find a way to unload it.
var bigboreLoader:Loader = new Loader();btnbb2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, bigborecontent);
function bigborecontent(event:MouseEvent):void{var bigboreRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("moduletemplate.swf"); bigboreLoader.load(bigboreRequest); stage.addChild(bigboreLoader);
I am certain it requires the Child to communicate with the parent somehow but I am at a loss. If I could get a bit of advice or a link to something deal with this, it would be a big help. I just need to have my links load my modules and the remove them when the close buttong is hit on the loaded swf. I promise I have done searches and I admit I have found asnwers but still they are not working. I found the code below:
Main FLA:
function removeF() {
removeChild(bigboreLoader);
}

I have a flash movie with a button (referencesBut_bt) that, when clicked, loads a movieClip onto the stage. What I'd like to do is have a button inside the just loaded movieClip that unloads itself when clicked (removeChild). I think the problem I'm having is in targeting the loaded clip. Does anyone know how I would tell a movieClip to remove itself from the stage when a button is clicked from within the same movieClip? The code i have is below:
//------- set up movieClip for export
var references_mc:mcReferences = new mcReferences();
//------ event listener and func for referencesBut_bt

On the separate swfs I have a close button, but do not know what action script to attach to it to make the movie clip go away? I want these to go away every time you hit the close button on the separate Flash swfs loading into the main movie clip.

Using AS3, and without modifying the published HTML file, I want close the browser window (IE/Firefox) in which my SWF is playing on click of a button. This is not a pop-up window that the SWF is running in. It is the main browser window.
Here's my code:
btn_closeBrowser.addEventListener (MouseEvent.CLICK, close_Browser);
function close_Browser(event:MouseEvent):void{
var jscommand:String = "window.close();";
var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("javascript:" + jscommand + " void(0);");
navigateToURL(req, "_self");}
Nothing happens when I click on btn_closeBrowser in IE or Firefox.

I have code that loads an external .swf files into my main.swf. Each of the external .swf files has a close out button. When that button is clicked, it calls a function that supplies close out animations for the movie clips for any .swf that is loaded. All code is in main.swf. There is no code in the external.swf(s)
Each external .swf has it's own set of movie clips. The "closeCurrentSWF" function has animations for movie clips that are within .swf files that may not even be loaded, yet I get NO errors when this function is called...which is great!! I'm so stoked this works, why flash isn't throwing me an error...
Code:
//Load External SWF//
var _swfContainer:Loader = new Loader()
_swfContainer.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, finishedLoading);
stage.addChild(_swfContainer);
var _externalMovie:MovieClip;
function loadSWF(nameOfSWF:String){

I'm looking for this actionscript that can close an already loaded external swf movie after it reaches at its last frame. Ok, what I meant is, I have a virtual tour on a site. The main/root file main.swf has some spots where you can click to load external swfs and each one of these external swfs plays video message. Now, my client wants me to make the external video message to be disappeared automatically when it reaches last frame (and, it should show the main scene then..)...

I am trying to access a button inside an external swf file that I loaded. Problem is every time I try to access this button I get an error saying that it's null!
Here is my code:
public class DocumentClass extends Sprite
{
public var loader:Loader;
public var swfFile:URLRequest;
[Code].....
Now this should work, code-wise I think its correct. The problem is that loader cant find the required button. There is indeed a button in the loaded movieClip with an instance name of "button", I double checked that.
[URL] basically i was just a layer too high and this is why i couldn't access anything..

I am creating a full screen projector with flash CS4. In the projector I have more videos, starting from an swf player-
The problem I encounter is this:
The projector starts correctly FULLSCREEN (using AS). The video plays 900x506 correctly. If I click on the player, to get the video full screen, it works. But when I press ESC, not only the video, but also the PROJECTOR looses full screen.
This is a bit annoying. Is there a way to apply the "back to normal size" only to the video? I do not want to prevent the app to be exited from full screen, it's not a problem if the user wants to exit the projector full screen. But not when the user exits the video from fullscreen mode.
How to target only the video?

I'm using the preloader like the one rhamej posted here:[URL]The part of the code I need help with is as follows:
[AS]
//fire the MovieClipLoader and attach the listener to it
var container1:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
container1.addListener(mclListener);
[code]....
I realize the code is wrong. I wondered if it was possible after loading an external .swf ("1_movie.swf") within the container, if you could then press a button (enter_button) located within the external .swf ("1_movie.swf") , and use the preloader code to load another external .swf on release ("tree20.swf"). I'm having trouble because the preloader code is in the main timeline of my main flash file ("index.fla"), and I don't know how to make the preloader code recognize the button located within the external .swf, and use it to load another external .swf within the same movie clip.

I've been looking for hours on how to solve this seemingly minute problem. I've found tones of forums discusing this similar problem but for some reason I just can't get it to work. I have a flash website that uses a root.swf and each section of the web page loads a child swf onto the root. One of these sections I have a picture that loads in another child swf. We'll cal that picture.swf. This picture I want to have a button to close it and return to the previous page.
