View 3 Repliesi have to make a drag and drop thingy in actionscript 3.0. Now we had another actionscript project before and then i had some extra classes but most things i put in the main class and it was all working fine. Someone told me that i put too much in my main class and that i should make more classes like a class for every object you interact with. Dont know if hes right but he acted like he was.
Now back to the problem. I made a main class connected directly to my fla in its properties. Then i made another class for the game itself, cause maybe it needs an intro and other things so i want to separate them in their own classes and start them with the main class. now in the class for the game itself i want to be able to click an object with the mouse. I was just testing with a trace. When i click the object it only traces like 1/20 clicks i make, tryed alot of things, when i put the same code in the main class with stage.addEvent blabla it will respond every time but as soon as i try to put in the class for my game it only responds like 1/20 times i click. Wth?
Now i can put all my code in the main class again and make another 1000 line code with a couple of other small classes but this time i want to do it right so what am i doing wrong? Heres some code too
This is the main class dressUp is the game class, it doesnt do much just define the game class and change the mouse pointer.
EDIT: We work in a project group so another reason i want to make alot classes is so we can work on different classes separately. But i promised to have this done this weekend and there not so good in actionscript either.

I have created a simple game which is started by a start button in a Movieclip that opens at the beginning using the code :

The splashscreen movieClip has its own code :

When I run the game the splashscreen does load and then disappears when the Play button is pressed but none of the eventlisteners seem to work. The background moves, the enemy ships fire but I can't move the ship or fire using the keyboard. The game works perfectly well when I don't use the splashscreen at the start.
This is probably something very simple that I just can't seem to get to work. Basically I'm trying to use a variable to be called inside of an array instead of the actual array so a simple example would be

I am a newb to Flash CS5 Pro, so I can't tell what is wrong. I have multiple objects on my stage that I copied to create afull effect. Most of the objects perform perfectly, but the ones on the edge of the stagedisappear when I export to video. I have a button calling volumeChange onRelease, but when I trace videoSound.getVolume() in volumeChange, it comes up as undefined. However, if I trace videoSound.getVolume() after I define videoSound, it comes up as 100, but any attempt to use videoSound.setVolume in initNetStream is futile.
I have a Video object which plays a video with an alpha channel. There are objects behind the Video object which I'd like to allow the user to interact with, so if someone mouses over the playing video nothing happens but if they mouse over objects in the background, something happens. Is this possible?
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to attach a single NetStream Object to two separate Video objects instead of pulling redundant streams from the server. The expected behavior would be for both Video's to display the same content. However, it seems that the last video I attach the NetStream to is the only Video that will display the content.Has anyone else run into this? I'd rather not go to the inelegant steps of using BitmapData to clone pixels if I don't have to.

Now in the metadata function its giving me the error, "Access of undefined property video". Now, am I just completely not understanding how classes work or is this a common problem?
My task is to show a video player in a full screen mode. Ihave no problem doing that but I need it to perform in a such a waythat only video scales to the full screen while other objects(player controls) remain unscaled. If I just go to the fullscreenmode - everything on the stage is scaled up naturally.Playing with the full screen features I could come up withthe only solution which is to calculate a scaling factor (based on,say, stage.width and stageWidth) and adjust player controlsdimensions and position accordingly.Is it the best way to preserve objects sizes or there is abetter technique?I hoped that because each display object has it's own stageand I could show full screen only video by doing something like:
_video.stage.fullScreenSourceRect = screenRectangle;
_video.stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
but it still expands all the objects.

I have 3D videos encoded with each eye's content side-by-side on each frame. What I want to do is take the left-half and over-lay it on the right-half. (I'll then change with the colors and the overlaying so that someone with blue-cyan 3D glasses can view the video).
I tried to attach a single NetStream to two video objects and offset them, but that only let the stream play on one object.
I'm creating a drop down menu and when I addEventListeners to check the clicks on the invisible buttons on frame 19 of the "menu" movieclip, it gives me an error. View 3 RepliesI currently have two connections with two separate streams. They both hit the same fms 3.5 server. One connection transfers live audio and video. The other one is used for remote objects. Sometimes when viewing the audio and video stream with a slower internet connection, the stream for the shared objects disconnects. I think it is a bandwidth issue. Is there any way to set the priority of the streams? I think this should allow me to set a higher priority for the shared object connection so it won't disconnect.

Internally Flash obviously keeps a list of the primitives drawn using Graphics so I wondered if you have many such primitives in a Sprite, can you re-position/remove/alter individual items rather than clear and re-draw everything? Or is this deeper into the bowels of Flash than you're allowed (or recommended) to go?
View 4 RepliesI'm using Zend AMF to send my remote objects to Flex. I've defined a Constant class and created getASClassName() method. Then I've created Action script class in flex.
Objects are send successfully, but they are deserialized to generic Objects in Flex instead of specific ones. EDIT: On network monitor in Flex I can see that AMF value is set to com.my.project.valueobjects.Constant. Although array from event.result contains Objects.

I have an array of temporary objects created in a for loop. The objects are of type class "Tile", a class I created. However, it appears that whenever I create a lot of tiles in the for loop, the program slows down indefinitely.
While the array is whiped at a later trigger point, I am thinking that perhaps these Tile objects are not being erased from memory. They are being created on the fly in a for loop, and the array is being reset to "array = []".
Are the objects still in memory or are they cleaned up when the array is set to []?
What I have is a game with a Level object, inside the Level is a Player object, and they don't have instance names given, what I'm trying to figure out is how to do is make it so that the player can change the x or y properties of the Level object.
To be more precise, I'm making it so that when the player moves in a certain direction, he either moves accross the stage, or he starts moving the Level object around the stage, it'd be in an Event kind of function, now I can easily make the Player move, but I don't know how to make the Level object move which the player is inside of.

I will try to give as much detail as I can. I am creating an CRM application using Flex(Cairngorm 2)/Java/Hibernate. The basic problem I am having is this: I have a Customer class in Java that has an ArrayList of Address classes. I have a Customer class in Flex that has an ArrayCollection of Address classes. When I make the remote object call for a Customer I get back a Customer object in Flex, but the ArrayCollecion objects have a data type of Object instead of Address. If I try to call for a List of Address classes I get the same result. If I try to call for a List of Customer classes I get a list of Customer classes in Flex. Using tomcat 6 with the following jars:

How do I align a movieclip, which width and height is user-defined, inside another object (this one is static, though). Top-left alignment is easy, x=0 and y=0, but what about center, center left, bottom left, etc? Math(.round) i suppose, but how?I want an object (static) inside the movieclip (user-defined) to stay aligned to, for instance, the top right corner, similiar to the minimize, maximize and close buttons at the top right of your browser.. The height and width data is pre-defined by the user in another file.But that does probably not make any difference...
