ActionScript 3.0 :: Objects Class Find And Change Another Objects Xy Properties?

What I have is a game with a Level object, inside the Level is a Player object, and they don't have instance names given, what I'm trying to figure out is how to do is make it so that the player can change the x or y properties of the Level object.
 
To be more precise, I'm making it so that when the player moves in a certain direction, he either moves accross the stage, or he starts moving the Level object around the stage, it'd be in an Event kind of function, now I can easily make the Player move, but I don't know how to make the Level object move which the player is inside of.

I have a little bit of code that makes a nifty kaleidoscope effect, but I would like to take it one step further by having each star in the kaleidoscope gradually shift color as it expands outwards. Right now, I create randomly colored "star" movieclips by drawing 6 different triangles within the movieclip, and then add those individual "star" movieclips to a "stars" array.

What I'd like to do is use a "for...in" loop to grab the .color property of each of the "star" movieclips and change it slightly (using colorTransform?) at each ENTER_FRAME. How can I go in and access the star.color property (or is it star.transform.colorTransform?) of each of the movieclip objects that are now stored in my "stars" array?

Would it be:

I have created a class, that is simply a group of text fields. In the main app, I create instances of this class, and add them to the main app. How can i access the textFields that are in the class, to say, change the text, etc... Internally Flash obviously keeps a list of the primitives drawn using Graphics so I wondered if you have many such primitives in a Sprite, can you re-position/remove/alter individual items rather than clear and re-draw everything? Or is this deeper into the bowels of Flash than you're allowed (or recommended) to go?

I'm studying the code for a vertical shooter game that is given in the book "ActionScript Design Patterns 3.0." The author is explaining the factory pattern and so covers just that aspect of the code -- doesn't cover hit testing. I would like to figure out how to do hit testing for this example because it's similar to something I am planning.

The code for the game consists of 12 classes, abstract and concrete creator classes, abstract and concrete product classes and a Main class. These classes instantiate the ship and weapon objects at various points in their execution. I made a separate Collision class and I'm trying to find all the objects on the stage using this Collision class so I can hit test them with each other. Here's my code:

Is there a way to fix this code so I can access objects on the stage? Am I missing a cast somewhere? Or do I need a different approach to find objects on the stage in a multiclass game?

i'm currently using a dictionary to associate a boolean to my (non-dynamic) sprites, but i would like to know if there is a smarter way of doing this? i could just use MovieClips to assign my properties instead of Sprites since MovieClips are dynamic, but i will not be using any of the MovieClip properties or functions so it comes down to a best practice issue. basically i want to create a state boolean property on my sprites - they are either on or off so my boolean variable is called isOn.

New to AS3, long time programmer. Essentially I am creating a myriad of objects, all of which will have the same functionality, although the properties will vary between each object, including the artwork. I believe they will all be movieclips as they will be interactive and I believe they will be moving.

I am wondering what the best way to create these objects are. I am assuming that I create an object class with the functionality and properties, I'm just unsure how to instantiate multiple copies with different properties, if that makes sense.

I'm using Zend AMF to send my remote objects to Flex. I've defined a Constant class and created getASClassName() method. Then I've created Action script class in flex.

Objects are send successfully, but they are deserialized to generic Objects in Flex instead of specific ones. EDIT: On network monitor in Flex I can see that AMF value is set to com.my.project.valueobjects.Constant. Although array from event.result contains Objects.

I have an array of temporary objects created in a for loop. The objects are of type class "Tile", a class I created. However, it appears that whenever I create a lot of tiles in the for loop, the program slows down indefinitely.

While the array is whiped at a later trigger point, I am thinking that perhaps these Tile objects are not being erased from memory. They are being created on the fly in a for loop, and the array is being reset to "array = []".

Are the objects still in memory or are they cleaned up when the array is set to []?

I will try to give as much detail as I can. I am creating an CRM application using Flex(Cairngorm 2)/Java/Hibernate. The basic problem I am having is this: I have a Customer class in Java that has an ArrayList of Address classes. I have a Customer class in Flex that has an ArrayCollection of Address classes. When I make the remote object call for a Customer I get back a Customer object in Flex, but the ArrayCollecion objects have a data type of Object instead of Address. If I try to call for a List of Address classes I get the same result. If I try to call for a List of Customer classes I get a list of Customer classes in Flex. How do I align a movieclip, which width and height is user-defined, inside another object (this one is static, though). Top-left alignment is easy, x=0 and y=0, but what about center, center left, bottom left, etc? Math(.round) i suppose, but how?I want an object (static) inside the movieclip (user-defined) to stay aligned to, for instance, the top right corner, similiar to the minimize, maximize and close buttons at the top right of your browser.. The height and width data is pre-defined by the user in another file.But that does probably not make any difference...

I want to create a flash movie which firstly loads a selection of images/objects into a portion of the frame. After this is complete, the user can then drag these objects onto another area and the object will be created where the user has chosen. The user can then drag another instance of the ojects onto the area.

For example, there is a background of a lake in one area. A selection of boat pngs are loaded in an area below the lake. The user can drag these boats and place them on the lake. They can drag a boat multiple times if they wish.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Class Creating Multiple Objects Of Another Class?

I have a class that represents a turret in the center of my screen.When I hold down SPACE, I want it to create a "bullet"-object that moves in the direction of the turrets cannon, every frame the SPACE key is held down. I am having problems with this cause I am getting this error when I am trying to create the object:

Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

This is where the error occurs:

PS: What happens is that when I press the SPACE key, the "turret" class event handler runs the function "Shoot_Chaingun" and that function creates a new Chaingun-object (which actually is a bullet), that inherits the x, y, and rotation of the turret, along with some additional varaibles, including lifetime. Then upon creation, I use "addChild(this)" to add it to the main stage, and "removeChild(this)" once it's lifetime is up.

EDIT: And also, I just realized I don't have a MovieClip linked to this chaingun class. How do I make sure that every time a chaingun object is made, the MovieClip is also loaded?
