- compress these images for transmission
- send them down the wire or perhaps to a local file
Now, is there any way to replace an actual camera by some bitmapdata object that periodically draws (part of) the application?
Usually Adobe Flash applications can access any usb-webcam.I have a USB camera for microscopes which understands TWAIN and DirectShow.Is there a possibility to access the video data from this camera with flash?

I know I can strip the doublequotes, but don't want to go that route if I can avoid it. I've tried replacing to double quotes with hex codes before passing the text via parameter to my flash file, but the text string always cuts off at the hex code, the same as if the double quote were present in the string. View 1 RepliesI'm completely new to FMS but a seasoned Flex developer. We're building a Flash Builder 4.5 application which will be deployed to iPads. The basic functional requirements are as follows:
1. Presenter in a room has a camera streaming video of themselves2. Participants in the same room have an iPad - there are 30 participants and the stream is sent to all 30 iPads simultaneously.3. There must be lowest delay possible with good quality video - we understand this can be achieved with RTMP and that VP6 has to be used (as there is no H.264 support at present in AIR on iOS)4. The presenter will trigger certain things from their iPad which will then display certain alerts, content on the partcipants iPad (from server connection the participant iPads are listening to)
Firstly, I'm interested to know your thoughts on this current spec. This was put together from zero initial experience with FMS and having read a lot online and creating a proof-of-concept. Secondly, with regards to the two-way interaction: Is this something FMS handles? Previously I have used LCDS or BlazeDS for the data events & streaming aspects of our applications. Initially I was planning on using BlazeDS again, in addition to FMS. But from what I have read FMS possible handles data push too? Does FMS have LCDS/Blaze built in in some way?
How would one go about reverse engineering a page such as the this one to work out where the data being used to create the chart comes from?

Allow me to briefly sketch the situation i'm in; On my stage i've got a collection of movieclips, each has an unique name. These MC's represent regions of a country on a map.
The most basic task i'd like to achieve is when the user mouse-overs one of these regions, it displays some relative info on the region (Name, size, population etc)
I was thinking about storing this info externally from the fla/swf itself. When the swf lauches it would retrieve the corresponding info for each region.
Having this data outside the swf would make editing and upkeeping it more easy.
I'm leaning towards looking into an XML-file to do this ? (SQL sounds neat but i have no expirience with it)
The Swf would be hosted on a site, but i see it evolve as an AIR-app in the future.

View 3 RepliesI want to use one data source (e.g. an Array) for multiple Datagrids that have different filterFunctions attached and show different columns.First, I thought I use a very straight forward apporach:create the Arraycreate an ArrayCollection for every DataGrid and set the "source" property to the Arraycreate the DataGrids and set their dataProvider property to its designated ArrayCollectionSo now. every ArrayCollection can have its own filterFunction, sort state etc. but there needs tos are dispatched and I have to call itemUpdated manually on each of the ArrayCollections. While debugging into the code in order to get a deeper understanding for Flex, I tried to figure out, what this misterious "itemUpdated" method does, especially as it notes in the adobe documentation, that, if no "property" is given (e.g. it is null), a simple "refresh()" will occur.
I did not find any calls to "refresh()" in the whole debugging (and I went down the framework whole as deep as possible (btw: lots of funny comments right in the code :-) )he only thing I could find was a CollectionChangeEvent getting dispatched with a PropertyChangeEvent in its "item" property. Which was of the kind "UPDATE" (and not, as I would expect "ADD"). When trying to dispatch that event manually, it never worked (e.g. the datagrid did not update).
I have a class with a contstructor that should only change the source of an image.

I am capturing camera on flex for android using air 3.1,and found that the camera is only showing the a part of of actual camera video.When i view camera using normal camera application in android galaxy tab, it shows full camera area but when i am capturing the camera in flex its showing only the center area for it.I tried using setMode to set the resolution, but its not of any use.Is there any way to get full camera area captured inside flex using camera.getCamera ?
View 1 RepliesFrom a Flash object, I would like to be able to detect the presence of a webcam that the user might grant access to, without actually asking the user whether they want to grant access. This is to streamline a large application that has extra features if a webcam exists — if there is a webcam, the application will present several dialogs that lead up to the normal cam-security prompt, but if the user doesn't have the hardware, I want to skip over them altogether. Requesting access to the cam before those dialogs won't make sense to the user.
It appears not to be possible to call Camera.getCamera() without the security prompt happening. Is there a workaround? (For instance, could I, perhaps, call getCamera in a hidden Flash object and inspect its return value, or does it block until the user acknowledges the security prompt?)
I have a video capture device on a machine. I have written a windows application to capture the video from this device. While capturing, if i try to broadcast using flash it does not connect. If i'm already broadcasting and then try to capture then my windows application does not get the capture pin of the device. So, flash seems to be taking the capture pin. Is there anyway to broadcast using the preview pin on the device so that i can capture using my application. Or is there way where i can split the capture pin and give one to my app and one to the broadcaster

View 3 RepliesI have two mx:TileList controls that I'm using to allow editing of objects in batch. The first contains a collection of all available data, and the 2nd contains the current batch. Both are bound to ArrayCollections, and using the native drag-n-drop functionality of the TileList control the data is moved from one ArrayCollection to the other when an object is dragged between them.
I need to change the currentState to show & reset the batch manipulation controls when the batch count goes from 0 to n or n to 0 items. Based on the documentation, I would have thought that I should listen to the dragComplete event, but my testing shows that instead of firing after the data has been removed from the source ArrayCollection and added to the destination ArrayCollection, it fires (consistently) between these two actions.

I have a component where I expose the property 'questions' with the following code:

In this component, I use commitProperties() to implement my logic.
I use Cairngorm and the 'questions' is in the model and hence it's defined as a source for data binding.
When the 'questions' ArrayCollection's size changes elsewhere in the application, it is not invoking the setter method in the component that is destination for the data binding.

I can trace both newFiles[i] and keywords[i][whatever], but the replace doesn't replace anything. The regex is valid as well. I'm using regexr to test it, and it works perfectly there... but will not for me and I don't know why.
i have a Air Project in which i have added three extenal source folders. but when i reopen project or strat flash builder again i get icon on those folder like this but when i open the configuration for that project and try to validate the path and adding it again i get message like this but the path is valid. proof is this pic what could be possible error,,, is there any way that i when ever re-open project i get no warning and able to navigate through the linked source code. now i am doing it

2- again adding that folder.

View 2 RepliesI've got a strange situation where I'm replacing the text in a string that I've taken from an XML, but the .replace function for the string keeps failing. I've tried running the example given on the Adobe site, so I know the value I'm trying to replace ("%20") isn't at fault - it's something about the string I have! I've included the code below, but it seems correct. Is there a particular tip I should know when taking XML values into AS3? I'm putting them in strings for this project.

I have a problem with the camera slowing down in my project.I thought it could be because of the complexity and memory consumtion of this work, so I created a completely new movie, typed such code:
