I am doing a menu bar in flash and have created a button rollover effect in a movie clip and applied actionscript. The problem is that the rollover effect jars the movie clip from playing and the click option is tempremental and works occasionally.
View 3 RepliesI am creating a navigation bar in Flash (which will then be used in Dreamweaver). When you mouse over each topic in menu (ex. Products), i want it play a movie clip (so it shoots out a sub-menu underneath). so far so good, but the only thing is, the sub-menu won't stay open in order for me to click on buttons in it. For each button, I assigned it the Behavior to go to a url. Also, I tested the buttons within the mc and they don't seem to direct me to url. do you think maybe it's because it's nested within the movie clip?? Is there an easier way to go about this?

ive followed Senoculars drop-down menu tute [URL], awsome stuff, but it seems the submenu's dont disappear to well when you roll out. ..They only disappear if you click on another menu item or when you click outside the menu.

View 2 RepliesBasically, I have a button and on click it displays a menu. I want to click that menu a second time and the menu closes. Currently, every time you click the button, the menu reopens. I pasted the Flex livedoc example below. If you click the button, the menu keeps reopening.Now, I rigged it up by setting a var to open and closed, so when clicking the button it does a check. However, if you click away from the screen, the HIDE event gets dispatched, and the menu closes. This messed up the open close var being set.
How could I make this Flex example below show the menu on button click, and then on a second button click, it closes the menu? Take into affect that if you click away from the menu, it closes it.Also, I played around with the MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE event for the button and set the preventDefault, and the FlexMouseEvent event.cancelable is set to false.Changing to a PopUpMenuButton is not an option. I have to much skinning involved.Here is the Flex example:

I am currently doing a project that to create a full flash website. The website contains a preloader, an introduction movie, and dynamically loads external swfs when click the menu buttons. I am struggling with the preloader part. My preloader movie does not shown until 50% and disappears at 90%. I have searched for solutions on the internet for days but could not find any. I attached my source file as well as the swf.

i wanted to place some credits item in the right button menu (no links, so no events, just a label with credits). i was looking the contextmenu help, and there is an example of how to add items, disable default items and so on, but i could not find how to attach the menu to the movie (the basic part). i tried both on 'stage' and it tells me that stage does not have a property called contextMenu, so i tried to attach it to a sprite, it runs ok and compiles ok but when i right click on the sprite i get the default menu

I've got a drop down menu. I want to click a tab to make it drop then, if it's open, click it again to close. I've tried a million variations on the script below:

This works too (once). So the drop down buttons all disapear again, but it won't re-set. The drop down menu stays up from then on.
BTW i'm not set on this method, it just seemed the most obvious i.e. if menu hidden, then show it, set some variable to down (showing), else hide the menu, set var to up (hidden). Not working though.
I need a tutorial for a hierarchical drop down menu system that drops down 3 sub levels. Do I make the items in the sub menus individual buttons and then insert them into a movie clip or make every sub menu item a movie clip and insert them into buttons?

I am opening different swf's and I want to make sure that the buttons are still showing. I know there is something with changing or swapping the depth of the movie clip when it loads the new swf's in, but I have not found anything that is seeming to work.
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to make a menu that has onRelease buttons on top of onRollover buttons (the onReleases are on a separate layer from the onRollovers). The onRelease buttons take the user to different urls, and the onRollover buttons are supposed to allow different parts of the menu to appear.
The onRelease buttons work fine, but I can't get the onRollover buttons to work consistently. Sometimes the onRollover buttons will correctly advance to a different frame, and sometimes they "stick" and do not advance. The script has no errors and I've tried changing the sizes of the onRollover buttons (in case they were too large and the cursor was hovering over more than 1 at the same time), changing the order of the code for the onRelease and onRollover commands (in case the onRollovers were being superseded by the onRelease commands), and countless variations of the layers and frames.
I'm sure that you'll want to see the script, but I don't think that pasting it all on this post would be reasonable? So I've put the .fla and the .swf on this page for reference: [URL]
I have 4 buttons , one container and one background movieClip as the attached file shows. Well.. at the Gallery movieclip displayList I add the other three BLACK buttons like this:

I'm creating a drop down menu and when I addEventListeners to check the clicks on the invisible buttons on frame 19 of the "menu" movieclip, it gives me an error. But if I rollout of any of the things from the dropdown menu, it stays at Image 2 (Frame 3)with the dropdown menu visible. Which is a problem...I want to be able to rollout of these buttons to revert back to the homepage, Image 1 (Frame 1).But, for instance, telling "Graphic Design" to go to Frame 1 on rollout means that if I try to go below "Graphic Design" to "Photography," I've rolled out--and so the rest of the menu disappears.So I want to roll be able to select anything from the dropdown menu, and only rollout to Frame 1 if I go outside the entire dropdown menu, not just one button.

I have a Movie Clip configured as a Button and I wanted to know how to make the cursor transform into a pointer (little hand) when it's over tat movieclipBut well that was just not the point of the Post what really interests me is that when I click that MC a Pop up menu appears (another MC) but if i decide not to click any of the buttons in that menu the menu will stay there until I click another button or something and i will want it to disappear if a click it for a second time or something like that.

I need selectable text that can be copied. Some users are used to copy with Ctrl+C (Cmd+C on Mac), and some are used to right click and select "Copy".
Using s:RichEditableText, there is no "Copy" in right click menu: http://d.pr/xWXW. Using mx:Text, there is "Copy" in right click menu, but it doesn't copy anything: http://d.pr/vtiw
Ctrl+C works for both s:RichEditableText and mx:Text.
Is there a property or something to enable "Copy" in right click menu for s:RichEditableText?

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to disable the right-click menu for an application I created for the PocketPC(PPC). A projector file was not recognized by the PPC, so I cant use the functions within it. Would someone please educate me on disabling it. By the way - the right-click menu pops up on the PPC when a user touches the screen for an extended amount of time (~1 sec), rather than just a quick tap.
