View 8 RepliesDoes anyone know the code for finding the global positioning of X & Y co-ordinates of a click of a button which is constantly rotating, and then secondly the code for when you click on the button it displays a movie clip on top of it -(position of x & y when clicked) at the angle that you clicked it,so underneath the buttons are still rotating so other people can click them where they are?
to explain the context, I'm trying to design a mock up of a circular interactive table Dynamically placing movie clip at the angle and global position of a mouse click (button) which is constantly rotating.when someone comes up to it and clicks on one of the buttons that are moving, it reads where the person clicked it and opens up a new box (movie clip) where they clicked it (at the angle) so its not upside down if you are at the top.
I've included my .fla file which shows the four buttons moving and a little diagram explaining what I'm trying to do.
What's the correct way to track mouse position, from Adobe Flash, when someone has: Started a drag within the Flash application (a MOUSE_DOWN event), Dragged the mouse outside the app or even the browser window (a MOUSE_MOVE event), and Released the mouse button (a MOUSE_UP event)? For example (imagine Stack Overflow is a Flash application):
Within the app, I'm able to track the mouse X and Y positions with a MOUSE_MOVE event listener, but I lose it when it goes outside of the browser... So, how do I track the position of the mouse no matter where it goes? For a good example, try Google Finance. Try dragging the chart around; it'll still drag around if you move your mouse out of the browser window, and the mouse will be outside of the browser when you release it.
Also, check out KOKO KAKA; If you click on the scrollbar (make the browser window really small) and move outside of the browser window, the scroll bar moves just like a real one would. I believe both only work because the MOUSE_DOWN event "captures" the mouse, allowing the Flash application to track the position of the mouse even when it is outside of the browser.
The other is a scrub that manipulates a MovieClip, but tracks a change in mouse position from click to release, instead of tracking the changes in position of a slider playhead. But here is the download for that one:(sorry not a link due to not having over 50 posts yet, you will need to copy and paste)I have found plenty of AS1+2 ways of doing this idea, yet just haven't found any solid AS3 versions.I am currently in a class to learn Actionscript and have tried to figure out this problem yet I am just not yet to that level.

View 5 RepliesBasically the x position of the mouse should control the play position of a movie. Do I need something like an event handler (I'm not sure exactly what these do, but I've seen similar scripts that seem to use them).
View 2 RepliesI have an Input Text area that users can edit and then submit. I need to be able to show, on screen, the cursor's current position as they type. I don't need to know where the mouse is but all work-arounds I've found so far can only tell me the mouse position. The font for the text is 'courier' or 'courier new' and the Input Text area is scrollable.

View 1 RepliesI have a map application that when I use the mouse wheel the map will scale up or scale down. The next thing I want to do is to focus on the mouse pointer while zooming on the part of the map.
I have this code...
function focusMousePosition(){ onMouseMove = function (){ Stage.width = _root._xmouse; Stage.height = _root._ymouse; updateAfterEvent(); }}
var mouseWheelListener = new Object();var wheelNum:Number;
mouseWheelListener.onMouseWheel = function(wheelNum){ focusMousePosition(); if (wheelNum > 0){ map._xscale *= 0.9; map._yscale *= 0.9; }else{ map._xscale *= 1.1; map._yscale *= 1.1; }}Mouse.addListener(mouseWheelListener);
Code:
addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_WHEEL,mouseWheel);
function mouseWheel(event:MouseEvent) {
Map.scaleX = Map.scaleX + event.delta*.01;
Map.scaleY = Map.scaleX;
}
The problem with this code is that it scales from the registration point (0,0). Due to the other transformations I'm doing to this image at various times, it isn't possible to move the registration point. The image is larger than the stage and the user is able to drag it around. I want the mouse wheel to zoom in on the place the mouse is hovering over (or at a minimum...the center of the "view" they have...aka the stage)I tried doing this:
Code:
internalPoint = new Point(Map.mouseX, Map.mouseY);
externalPoint = new Point(stage.mouseX, stage.mouseY);
var matrix:Matrix = Map.transform.matrix;
[code]....
Which, incidentally, I'm using that whole portion of code to zoom into the state they will be in when they use the mouse wheel.
I just started playing around with as3 and I have a function for mouse clicks that draws a shape on each click. However the mouse click event does not appear to work unless I click a movieClip object I placed in the middle of the screen. Is there a way to make the mouse click event recognize when I click anywhere on the screen?

I changed the mouse cursor using a tutoral from this forum, but when I press the right mouse button,the standard mouse cursor reapears.How to prevent that?
View 10 RepliesI am trying to have two guestures on a SpriteVisualElement which I thought should be pretty simple implemented: Mouse_Move for sweep Gestures and mouse click to enable.. So I have 2 Eventlisteners on my stage:

The main problem is that every type of sweeping on the screen also fires the taphandler().. how to identify the correct event? I tried to to my taphandler only if(!event.buttondown) but no success.

I am looking for a way to simulate a mouse hover/mouse click. What's happening is a bar is autoscrolling and checking to see if there is an active button 'below' it. Sort of like a bar rolling along a music staff and checking for notes.
What can I use to accomplish this?
I have MC masked with TEXT,when the user moves his mouse down more text appears from the bottom and when he moves it goes bakc to the original position...I do not want the mouse wheel .. I woudl like to do it by mouse hovering...
View 5 RepliesI was working on a keyboard project and I started wondering if there was a way to click a certain location within entered text in a TextField and have that be the new location where any backspaces or text entering will go from. Like in text documents. Anyone know how this can be gone about if it is possible? It's not a requirement but it's an interest of mine and searches didn't bring up any results.
View 6 RepliesI have a quick question. I'm doing a click to position code. So when you click a button it will take you to a set of specific coordinates.
[Code]...
my question is what can I do to slow the speed down so it shows actual movement as it is going from position to position? I know you could do it in as2 fairly simple but I want to do it in AS3.
I am trying to get the mouse's position even when it is outside of the flash window. How can I do this?stage.mouseX/Y only returns the mouse position on the stage, not when the mouse is outside. Is there another way?
View 5 RepliesI've recently taken Krilnon's tutorial on interactive image panning, and have a need for more complexity. My image to be panned (relative to user's mouse movement) has several 'hot spot' buttons placed within. Each hot spot, when clicked, is to smoothly zoom and shift within the mask, with pertinent info displayed next to each, once zoom and shift is complete. almost like I'm making a motion tween, where the final position is known, but the start position is wherever the BG image is when the user clicks the nested button. I need to determine the x-position at the moment of click of the button (different for each button), and then, I think, use a simple-math "stagger-step" method of moving and scaling, until I've reached my final dest. here's the link to the tutorial I originally referenced:Url...
View 8 RepliesThe closest I have come to is the basic mouse hide and then mouse show, however this only gives the illusion of the cursor not being there, however you can still use it. I would like the cursor to be 'disabled' within the flash movie for a limited time. Either by it disapearing and then reappearing, or by it being frozen in place

View 1 RepliesI have a panning background with buttons in it. It would be nice if when the button is pressed i could move the position of the mouse so that the movie pans and catches up with the new position. Is this possible?

View 1 RepliesI have a circle and a square on the stage. When you click on the square the circle will go to "circle._x = 300" when the circle is at 300 I want to make it when you click on the square the circle will go "circle._x = 45"
Code:
moveCircle = function () {
circle._x = 300;
if (circle._x >= 300) {
circle._x = 45;
}} square.onRelease = function() {
moveCircle();
trace(circle._x + "is the position of the circle");
}
I want to do something which is probably pretty simple but I've got absolutely no idea how to do it!What I want is for the Alpha value of an object (movie clip) to change depending on the x position of the mouse. So when the mouse is at 0 the alpha of the object will be 0%, and when it's at 100 the alpha will be 100%
View 4 RepliesSo I'm working on my portfolio and I got this problem. The code posted scrolls the sprite "cellContainer" based on the position of stage.mouseY. Perfect.Problem is that I want stage.mouseY to equal the entire cellContainer height. Kind of like how a small tablet equals a huge monitor. So when stage.mouseY = 0,cellContainer.y = 0 and when stage.mouseY = stage.stageHeight, cellContainer.y = stage.stageHeight - cellContainer.height. Right now, it scrolls, but it takes a while to scroll throught the entire height of cellContainer. I want it to be proportional to stage.mouseY.
Actionscript Code:
private function scrollStart(e:Event)[code]....
My question is fairly straight forward: Is there a way to move the position of the mouse?within confines of the stage)I tried changing the value of mouseX/mouseY but it shows the following errors:I:FlashFlash ClassesMazegameMaze.as, Line 98 1178: Attempted access of inaccessible property mouseX through a reference with static type game:Maze.I:FlashFlash ClassesMazegameMaze.as, Line 98 1059: Property is read-only.
