i was wondering how you guys set up different projects that share an interface (interface object, not an UI element). i have several modules in separate projects that use an interface from the main project. right now i'm either doing it by copying and pasting the interface to the module projects or by adding the source path to the project.

It will include only a few of the options that are in the original application. Also, it needs to be a separate application.
I do not want to duplicate my code, so I am planning on moving a bunch of the classes from the original application to a new library that can be shared by both applications. However, I'm trying to figure out how to make this work in my MVC environment.

View 2 RepliesI want to set it up so the size properies will pass over to the block (same object size - height and scale) but also changing the collision properies so the player will be enable push the block around the screen but I'm not sure how to implement such functionality/feature. I've experimented with two ways so far; 1.) The enemy changes to a frame of a block when he dies (illusion of a different object but the same object with a different frame on the timeline) using the same size properies but I can't seem to the change the collision properies from it's prior setting of causing damage and re-bound/bounce to the player. 2.) The enemy is removed completely from the game and a new block object is added in the same position where enemy died but I can't share/code the same size properies to this new block object making obvious that is a different object. Flex Mobile applications are view based. And I'm using Adobe Cirrus (im assuming its the same for any FMS netConnection) Does anyone know how to maintain a persistent netConnection between views in a flex Mobile Application?[code]I want to be able to trace(netConnection.nearID) on this view, go to another view and trace(netConnection.nearID) and get the same result. and be able to have a cirrusStatusHandler() function like I have a above to listen for cirrus events. Then be able to do netConnection.close() on another view if i wanted to to be able to close the connection.
Brainstorming Ideas what I was thinking I could do:I was thinking I could maybe set up the connection on the main ViewNavigatorApplication mxml file, but i have so much going on and being triggered based on netConnection status events it seems it might be really complicated to handle everything from that mxml file on each of the views. Maybe I could declare the netCon vars in the ViewNavigatorApplication mxml file, and just add event listeners to those vars on each view? But i'm not familiar with accessing vars that exist in the mainViewNavigatorApplication mxml file.I just need to be able to make the connection once, and then it stays persistent until I call netConnection.close()I guess I could use separate views where I dont need the netConnection and just have this particular view use "states" inside the view where the netCon needs to be persistent. I made a scene with movement and everything, but when I convert it to a symbol I lose the movement frames. I want to be able to import it as an object so that the animation loops for as long as I need it to in the other project.

However, the compiler won't let me do this-- it's trying to do "new IFoo" in the generated ActionScript.

I am currently just finishing a project and I am having a big time problem with an ExternalInterface call. My application runs fine but when the javascript call is being made from flash using external interface, IE is going from the "Done" message, to showing the "!" icon, with "error on page" as the message. There is no error that is showing up in Firefox.
The current error I am seeing is an 'Unterminated String Constant', which wouldn't be a problem except for that it appears on line 1... which is [URL]
I'm having some troubles with the use of interface and inheritance in AS3. I've done lots of OOP in the past and what I'm trying to do seems obvious to me, but doesn't work in AS3. The question is : Is it possible to override a function that return an Object of class A, and make it return an Object of Class B which extends A ? I'm running into difficulty passing a strongly typed object, AttractView, to another method, addView() which expects an IWizardView interface that AttractView does implement. When I pass it as-is (as shown below), I get the compile error CaptureApplication.as, Line 120 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type AttractView to an unrelated type IWizardView. Casting to either IWizardView or BaseView before passing yields a similar error at run time.

I found at this Adobe tutorial a nice "RemoteService" class that creates a RemoteObject and contains the functions for handling the result and fault events. If I wanted to use this approach, how could I pass the data from the result handler to interfaces that modules from the main application could use?
I could put the RemoteService/RemoteObject in the modules, but (in my opinion- and I could be wrong) the best design seems to be using the remote calls in the main app and passing the data along to the modules.

When I click various buttons, the movieclip underneath it will move right and expand to fill the available content area. Now when I click other buttons, I want the current movieclip that is currently open to reduce in size and return to it's start position, followed but the newly selected movieclip to move right and increase in size.This is what my little brain thinks may work:Somewhere (perhaps on the main stage) you have code like this:

currently using flex builder 3. I am having trouble setting up linked folders between 2 of my projects.Basically I have a project for a Map Editor, and a project for the Tile Game. If I pull a symbol from the library of one project into another project, and then modify the symbol, shouldn't the changes appear in the original project too? Or is a new, project-unique symbol auto-created that has the exact same name as the one in the original library?I have a multi-scene cartoon with recurring characters, and would very much like to make modifications as I notice imperfections, and trust that the changes will appear in all instances. When I run the same script on my local compiles everything without any problems but when I try the remote ant it fails without giving more information.

Where is a good place to start? I have done some work with MXML projects using the Flex SDK, but never any ActionScript programming.
So, I popped open up Flash CS5 just now, and I couldn't find my projects panel. I was working on a dual screen set up previously, so my windows were everywhere anyways (sans external). I switched over to a smaller screen workspace, and popped opened the projects panel. Oddly enough, the code snippets panel came up instead. So, I switched off the code snippets, and tried again. I've been trying different ways of opening this panel for about 15 minutes, and I'm totally stumped. Some thorough googling didn't present any relevant results, so, StackOverflow, I turn to you. Is this a known issue? is there a secret backdoor way to open this panel?
View 1 RepliesMy goal is to make a flash/as3 program that would pull multiple sets of data (images and texts) from the database and compile and save a flash video project for each one. What might be the best way to go about making this work? I checked but wasn't able to find a function that would publish the flash project in it's current state, so I don't think I can execute the entire process in a single flash/as3 file. My only other option is to have some other program/batch file take care of the querying the database and compiling multiple flash/as3 movies by starting up a flash program and passing it the parameters of the data it needs to build 1 complete project for 1 set of data. Is there a program to create .swf files automatically? Is it even possible to pass in init params to flash/as3 project?

1. MainProject (Android Mobile app proj)
2. LibFile (flex project)
3. ExtraGame (web app using LibFile).
So, when I build .swf file from LibFile+ExtraGAme, load it from internet and run it from MainProject in different Application domains - I can't debug in ExtraGAme project. So how can I debug such projects?
