May 3, 2010I've scripted a connection to PHP that gets data from MYSQL and outputs that into a datagrid.When I encrypt the swf with Ameyata SWF Encrypt 5.0, and upload it to my webhost, it looks fine. I can click the header of the datagrid (that sorts the data), but when I click on a field of the datagrid, it just freezes and my datagrid is not usable. I'd have to reload the page in order to do something with the datagrid again. But the problem with the field remains.It works when I'm not encrypting the swf.URL...

or do I have no choice but to make the full names a part of the JSON like...

Feb 28, 2012I have a datagrid with some custom renderrers and I'm just curious how I should approach the ability to freeze and always show the left 3 most columns at all times when scrolling left/right.
I thought that I might have to resort to 2 datagrids, side-by-side, the first showing the 3 columns that I want at all times, and the ability to scroll the rest. Only issue then I guess is linking the row selection to select that row in both and to tie the column sorts together...
Or would it be better to try and take columns 4+ and shrink their width to 0 as a person scrolls right, and then increase it back to the max width as they scroll left? Though that would cause funny issues to happen as the content of the datagrid would get smaller and smaller until you were 100% to the right and the scrollbar would disappear.

Well let me tell it is, and well, it isn't. This tutorial assumes a basic knowledge of Actionscript, PHP and MySQL. If you have that, it's time to move on. Otherwise, I recommend you do some reading on the subjects... Section 2: Setting up your SWF to receive external data Loading external data into an SWF is a fairly simple task. Although the external text file method is probably the most widely known, it is by far the clumsiest way to get data into your SWF. Of course, this may be your only option of your server doesn't support MySQL/PHP! But for those of us who are fortunate to have these privileges, let me show you how Flash can get external data without having to create additional text files.
Dynamic text fields In order for Flash to get data from an external source, you need to make use of dynamic text fields. Simply place a blank dynamic text field on the stage and make sure you give it a variable name (NB: dynamic text fields have both an instance AND a variable names. The only problem I'm getting is when the text is loading from the database into the dynamic textfield in the flash movie, it prints either 'false' or '_level0...' The text does eventually load correctly, any way I can get it to print LOADING instead of these two or something similar?
