i have a problem with the line space flash creates when a dynamic text is loaded in a dynamic text field on the stage i put a dynamic textFild with istance name "profile_text". then im loadin in it a text. my text is written in the Notepad like this

i already set a Textformat to my dynamic text with i tryied to play with the "Leading".. but i think it something dealing with paragraph. how i can decrease spacing between paragraphs??
I would like to show some images and text in the same line. The text and image is completely dynamic. At first I thought to use htmlText property of TextField as img tag is supported. Something like this:
var tf:TextField = new TextField();
tf.htmlText = "before img <img src='img.png'> after image";
addChild(tf);
But I found that the image is showing in the next line, not in the middle of two text segments. Then after checking the manual of TextField I have found that this is the documented behavior that the image will be shown on the line following the img tag.
So what is the best way to do this? Note that the text and position of images are completely dynamic.
I understand that it is possible to split the input in a series of texts and images and then position them calculating the text and images width. In other words parse the input ourselves.
Is there any better way to do this? Or is there any library available that does this parsing?

View 2 RepliesI made a scrollbar, but now I have a problem, need to read the number of lines of Dynamic text field and if it is greater than x show the scrollbar and hide if is less. Like this:

My problem is how do I count the total lines of dynamic text field after load a external text.
Is there any way to make line breaks when you load text into a dynamic text box, other than using html? And if not, could someone give me an example of how to do it using html?

This seems like it would be a realatively easy thing to do, but I've been working on figuring out how to do so for days with no avail. I am using a dynamic text field to show html formatted text from .txt files. I have set the html property both in the properties panel and in AS, and it mostly works. All html formatting show up just fine, except for when "&" is used. Flash CS3 documentation indicates that & is supported, so.? All text after the & does not appear: the only text loaded is that that comes before it. I am using CS3, AS2, publishing in Flash Player 9. Sorry if this problem has been addressed elsewhere, but I've had no luck with my searches.

I'm trying to make text disappear and appear letter by letter, so i'm using dynamic text. I've made this code which should do this, the only problem is that the text won't show up. I used trace to check what does the dynamic text box contains after the code has done it's job and it contains what it should. So I don't really understand where the problem is. I've embeded all the lowercase letters since I'm only using those... I don't know what else to add here... except the code offcourse:

Ignore all the "ifs" they just make the code do it's job when it should. And it seems that they work correctly. The first "for" cycle removes the text letter by letter and it only works if there is some text in the dynamic textbox while the second "for" adds the text letter by letter. I have the same code on two keyframes in the first layer and the the dynamic textbox on the second layer with only one keyframe.
I've finally got XML information coming into my text field. Only problem now is that there for every line break in the text, Flash reads it as two line breaks, for example:

Line 2
Flash:
Line 1
Line 2
I found that you can just use the <br> tag in the original text or if I'm using actionscript to input the text I can use or but what if I'm using text generated by a CMS which my client needs to be able to use?

So you copy and paste what you've written in MS Word into this swf... hit a button and it converts the special characters into plain ones... problem is that when i convert it, all the new lines from MS Word disappear...
so:

It works if you actually press enter when you're in the static text box, but if you copy and paste it from MS Word it just doesn't work.
I have my Dynamic text box set to Multiline.
So i've thought of 2 options... either there is something else i have to tick or some little bit of coding i can add... or... maybe there is a way using the split and join function that i can add a new line where ever one has been added in MS Word, though i don't know if that would be possible...

I just want to know why a dynamic text doesn't show in the swf movie.Let me explain a little more: I have a mc within a main time line in wich is another mc,this mc have photos and a dynamic text who must be scrolled to view all of it,but the text doesn't appears! I'm attaching several movieclips onto the stage inside a for-loop and populating a dynamic textfield within the moviclip inside the same loop.Tracing the texfield.text shows the proper value in the Output console. However, the text value is not visible on the stage. I've drew a shape next to the dynamic textfield just to make sure the movieclip is being properly attached. I can see the shape but there is no text next to it.
