View 1 RepliesI am going to display some dynamic NON ENGLISH TEXT in flash. Now the problem is it is fine with the English text but If I put some other languages then the display is something horrible. I tried by embedding the dynamic text field for all. I have tried by saving the xml file as �UTF-8�, �Unicode� but the result is the same.
When I put in the XML � This is only for test� the text displayed properly. But if I put �Revela��o� in place of �This is only for test� then the result is horrible and it does not display the text properly.

View 1 RepliesI'm building an XML driven flash site and am trying to figure out the best way to structure it. I have one XML file which holds all the data for 4 sections. As the site design is really simple and stays the same across the site, i think it's probably best to keep it all housed within one SWF, using MCs for each section.
The only thing is i'm not sure how this will work with displaying the content from the XML, preloading etc. Ideally i'd like it so the content is only loaded when it's requested, rather than all at once. (there will be lots of images, videos.. etc). Would i need to structure it differently for this to happen? Such as using an XML file for each section, and/or an external SWF for each section? Or is it possible to only load parts of the XML data when needed?
Not sure how to describe this issue, but I only get it in Firefox and not any other browser. When clicking around, the page sometimes blows up with the attached pic. Sometimes it has even more characters than that, and you can see things like LAME encoder referenced. Anyone know what the deal is? All site caching is disabled. I am no pro with flash so I don't know what is causing this. I am using the Boutell XSPF player due to its support of Autoresume, if that helps. I added it to the list of players, and have the flash embed code in a block. I am achieving this using the Drupal Audio module and submodules supporting it.

Users cannot enter text in text input fields while in full screen mode. All keyboard input and key-related ActionScript is disabled while in full screen mode, with the exception of the keyboard shortcuts that take the viewer out of fullscreen mode Is there any solution to enable the keyboad inputs.

I'm working with an AreaSeries + DateTimeAxis in Flex 4. The dates for the time axis originate from a server in another time zone. I'd like to see the graph (in my local time zone) displayed using the server's time zone.I know that I can set the DateTimeAxis.displayLocalTime property to true or false, to have dates displayed in the local or UTC time zone. But the time zone I want is neither of those.Is there a simple way to make DateTimeAxis work with another time zone? Or even a complicated way?
View 2 RepliesI tried to write arabic text and it work just fine but the numbers still showing as english numbres, I tried to embed the fonts and use Locale as hindi but it is still not working, while I see in the adobe max 2009 that they shows the arabic numbers but they did not explain the options for that.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to gather a Unicode list of all the 'o' like shapes in the Hindi character-set. In fact, a list of any characters (in any language) that makes uses of separate characters to indicate an accent would be better.I intend to use this unicode-list in a RegExp.I been trying to edit a list of character-ranges by outputting them in an Input TextField, but editing this text causes weird issues (the keyboard-cursor isn't place on the correct character, selections suddenly dissappear / incorrectly warps... in other words... HINDI HELL!)
I've tried this with Notepad++ too, but although it was more responsive, it eventually crapped out on me like it did in the Flash Player textfield. This seems to occur especially while removing the [] block (nulls?) characters. Some of them trigger odd behaviors.
A web channel streaming service streams to a certain IP range, it only checks the IP in example.com/cmd.php?id=xxx (channel number) and outputs an rtmpe stream URL, nothing else.How do I trick it to get my local URL instead of the one on their server? I have considered squid proxy, but is there some way to do it with a firefox plugin or greasemonkey script?
Edit:I will try to specify:It's a streaming service from an ISP and cable provider. They stream for free to people on their IP's. On their webtv page, which is called webtv.example.com, there is a flash player. If you are not on an IP from their ISP, you can't stream anything but the test channel.When you try to change channel via. javescript:videoplayer_changechannel(xxx) it makes this HTTP request:

If you are on one of their IP's you will get an RTMP URL, like this:

This is what the flash player requests, and if it get's this response it load the channel requested. There is no HTML on the php page, just the URL. Note that the rtmp URL is static.If you are not on one of their IP's it will return a random sentence (something stupid, the programmers having fun).I wan't to trick the flash player into getting the right value, even though it's not on one of the ISP's IP's.
We're using External Interface for interfacing between Flash and JavaScript on the HTML page. All works fine online. When we
try to localize the pages though (so that a Salesperson can have a CD full of demos), none of them seem to work.Is this an over-sensitive Flash security issue? We already have allowscriptaccess='always' and swliveconnect=true in the object/embed tags.
What can we do that doesn't require changes on each individual machine to set trust paths or any other kind of browser configuration? Not only do we want to have this content working on the machine of a salesperson, we may get clients that want to deploy content offline (kiosks, machines without any network access).

The datagrid is loading something cause the auto scrollbar comes up and is longer or shorter depending on what category I select from the combobox. For some reason the datagrid simply isn't displaying any text. I'm sure it's something small that I'm overlooking, but I just can't find it.[URL]

I have a Loader SWF that contains a bg, and another SWF (which contains the video player) that toggles between StageVideo and Video per the end user's environment. I have StageVideo working, but it always shows below other content.Now I know that this is the desired behavior for StageVideo, as it allows the GPU to render content directly to the screen without having to composite the video feed with display list contentbut I really want to be able to show my background (if only as a 'picture frame') behind the video player. I am having a strange issue in my flex app. I have a Video element that loads an FLV file from the same directory as the SWF app. If I move my SWF and FLV to a local directory on my computer and load the SWF in my browser, the video plays without any issues. However, if I move the same collection of files (SWF, FLV, HTML) to a network share, the video no longer loads.

Again, I only have this issue when loading content from a network share.
Is it possible to open MS Word from within Flex?I have a Flex application running within a browser, a user will be presented with a list of documents and when they click on a document name the binary content of the document is retrieved via a webservice call. I want to be able to present this information to the user. They don't need to edit this document or change it in anyway, just read it.

For example if I have 5 pdf files in a folder on the computer and then want to show these files in a swf file and if I then click on the pdf file open up the specific file. and if I remove or add a pdf file it will affect the list (its okay if its only updates the list when reloading the swf file)

Meaning I have to create programs where you have a lot of text involved and this has to be in multiple languages eg: german. For example in german you have letters like that cannot be displayed in flash (at least I couldn't sofar figure out HOW). Therefore I wanted to know if anyone has an idea how to do this? Possible I need a language pack for cs4 or something similar?

View 5 RepliesI created a flash application that is dynamically displaying xml feeds from content partners. This flash application has a black background and will be called and displayed from the C# windows application. The issue is sometimes when our application loads the flash swf file, the background color turns white so the text being displayed are not readable anymore since they are white. This intermittent and I am using flash cs 5 actionscript 3. Before I was relying on the stage background but after I saw the issue, I already used a solid background container like (vector, png, gif, or jpeg).
