ActionScript 3.0 :: Using Relative Reference With '.download'
Jul 2, 2010
Does anyone know a way to use a relative reference with the download? I would be surprised if only absolute references will work but I can't find a solution.
This code just gives me this error (as expect by the live docs) Error #2039: Invalid remote URL protocol. The remote URL protocol must be HTTP or HTTPS.
Code:
trace(s);//someFile.pdf
var downloadURL:URLRequest= new URLRequest(s);
var fileName:String=s;
[Code]....

Im using this code

However, it doesn't work. It works when I put the full absolute address, instead of simply "images/img1.jpg" . Is there any way to use a relative address?!?!? Probably attach the relative address to the URL property?

When using the fileReference.download method to let users download content from my server. Some users get a Security error when trying to downlaod. When studying the fileReference class it says: To avoid this situation, reclassify this SWF file as local-with-networking or trusted. But how do I do that? Do I import the security class and then set secrurity to:
Security.LOCAL_WITH_NETWORK;
If yes. Should I do that in my base class or the class that is "creating the error"? Or should I change the Local playback security to "Access network only" (I am using the cs3 flash)?

I've got a situation that involves error #2174. Flash 10 apparently doesn't allow more than one upload/download/load/save at a time, but my code doesn't actually do that. A skeleton:
ActionScript Code:
private function uploadFile(endpoint:String):void

I would like to know if there is any way to find out the destination path of the saved file using the download() method of the filereference class.Cos if that is possible then i could do navigateToURL(_path,_blank) to open that downloaded file in browser Or if there is any other way to do this i would like to know. [If any other thread exists please link to it which answers this]

I am new to Flash and ActionScript 3.0 environment. I don't have any knowledge in depth with Flash and ActionScript 3.0. I am using the flash(.swf file) in my Java application. Now, this .swf file is to be placed in the server system. While I am working with these, I faced an error. Here, my issue/problem(s) starts....

So I basically have used the fileReference class to allow the user to download a determined file if he wants to.
I use the file.download(URL) function and it works well.
However, the file is downloaded and saved to the hard drive using only the flash player. The browser is not aware of the download, and thus, if I want to show the progress of the download I'd have to make some progress bar myself. I know how to do it, but it would become really tedious and take too much UI space.
Isn't there a damn way in Flash to "send" a determined file to the browser so that it prompts the user to download it? It's an image file, so navigateToURL doesn't cut it since it will just display the image, both if I use a new tab or the current one.

I generate a HTML page with VB.Net which stores several pinks to files. These links are formatted with JavaScript looking like the Windows-Explorer with folders and files. The problem: There are only download links for the files, not for Folders. A folder can contain Subfolders ,a List of Files or a combination of both. So if I want to download a folder, I have to click manually on every file-link. I have not the possibility to insert PHP or another Server-side language. my question now is: Is there a client side way to Download them by click on a Folder? I prefer Javascript but If it isn't possible Flash will be ok also.

I'm having this frustrating error showing up and I have no idea why. Let me show you my classes and see if you can spot anything wrong.
First, here's my ILode interface:
ActionScript Code:
package com.schelterstudios.lodeSystem.flash.lodescode].....
So the problem I'm having is the compiler is throwing that 1000: Ambiguous reference error for any reference to instance.priority or instance.label. Why??? Instance is typed to IFlexLodeInstance, and IFlexLodeInstance lists method signatures of priority and label getters, and it inherits ILode, which lists method signatures for priority and label setters. What can I do to get the compiler to stop complaining?

My code is an external .as file. Google provides this code on their demo, which contains the this keyword:

Notice that I have 4 calls to console.log. The first 3 fire, but after the new GATracker statement, the 4th does not fire. I have a feeling that I'm overriding the entire package with the object created from new GATracker when I should be passing a different context. I believe the correct context I should pass is whatever this defaults to when not inside of a package/external file, I assume it references the main stage object.

The box is being moved, resized, rotated etc. How do I move, resize, rotate etc. the circle as if it were inside the box? Or must I remember the properties of the box, resize, move etc. it to default, move the ball then move, resize, rotate etc. the box again?

Eg: Balloon, Monkey
If I need the Monkey co-ordinates fixed relative to the Balloon only and my Global or Stage Co-ordinates fixed at the Top - Left hand corner should not affect my Monkey's movements.
i.e Monkey's co-ordinates computed with respect to Balloon's only.

I have this FLV player that plays movies in a library style.
Where you get thumbnails for all different videos with the ability to add different categories. I have a fla and XML file as my source files. xml has all the information about the list of movies titles description and all that and my fla file has info about the way player looks. I want to be able to add a tab called related videos, kind of like YouTube where when you play a certain movie it show a list of similar videos.

So I just found out the hard way that the path that Flash uses to load external content is based on the HTML it is embedded in, not the SWF itself. This is a problem for me because I have the HTML generated from a PHP file that is in a folder below the SWF. The PHP has other dependencies that would break if I moved it into the same folder as the SWF.So basically now my dev testing and web versions are separated by a folder.Is there a way to change the relative path Flash uses? Or am I going to have to hack things up?

I'm finishing up a flash template that I have used on numerous occasions and it has worked really well. This time however, the nav button that is used to bring up html pages within my site got out of whack. I have checked (and changed) the flash/menu_v8.swf?button=3 relative to the index page I'm trying to link to, but to no avail. I have also gone into Flash and can change the h-link of the TEXT on the button to the corresponding page, but it makes no changes whatsoever.

I've seen code where an object can be added relative to another but I can't get it to work. I'm just trying to draw a rectangle and then add another smaller rectangle relative to the first
public var rectangle:Sprite = new Sprite();
public var other:Sprite = new Sprite();
rectangle.graphics.beginFill(0xFF0000);
[Code].....
Both rectangles just end up rendered relative to the stage.
