I have a problem with videos stuttering when viewing my website for the first time. My site hosts many videos so I cannot preload them all at once. I am thinking I need a code that assures that each video buffers for a few seconds as it plays.Here is the code I use to upload the video:

hey guys ive got a real bizarre problem. When i go on my website on PC it works fine everything loads no problem. But when users log on my website and they are on mac they seem to get caught in the sections that are dynamic and use xml to load the content. First time the content loads for the section but if they try to leave this section they get stuck?

I have heard of people just making a html version of the website or using Smoke, but I heard iPhone users do not really want to download a third party plugin to view Flash content on their iPhones.
Are there any other options that do not require you to redevelop the Flash website, like into HTML versions for example and if developing into HTML is the only option, how should you build the HTML version of the Flash website?
I have used papyrus font in my flash website. But it is not showing the same font when uploaded. Anybody please tell me how i can make my visitors see the same font type which i have used in my website.
View 3 RepliesIs there a code in actionscript 2.0 for flash cs4 to disable left-clicking in IE on a flash swf embedded in an html page...the movie does not contain any buttons, but calls an xml file which contains path to images to be displayed. I tried using another swf file to call the original one (since original one I have only the swf available to use, no fla) but although it works fine in firefox, in IE it still allows users to click on the flash, and also changes to hand-cursor, while should have been the default cursor in use by windows, and no clicking (except right-click)... code is as follows:

Is it possible to create a flash file, which can be embedded into a website for on-demand viewing and be exported to a cd while maintaing interactivity, that is geared towards an online elearning environment? Basically a client wants a video that is broken down into various chapters with an interactive "course" for each chapter.The interacivity will included answering questions correctly in order to move on to the end of the chapter.

The whole website made in flash - dynamically assigned number of videos per row/column and page, depending on the user's screen resolution. Website made in php/html with help of JS and CSS - videos are displayed by YouTube player or other player e.g. JW Player - videos position depends on screen resolution.
The users using my website say they can't see the flash videos on the website, even after downloading the latest version of Adobe flash. May there be any reason for this ?

View 1 RepliesI am working on a site that is intended to stream two or more flv simultaneously. The slightly different header clip should renew on entry to each page. When I publish the fla file it plays as intended. When I upload the swf file to the web only one of the videos are playing back. It does not matter if I import the video to a timeline, or stream it progressively from the server. Both clips are uploaded.

It works when I create more NetConnection, NetStream and Video objects but is that necessary? The code rapidly becomes complex to handle.
Is there an easier way like perhaps share the NetConnection, or something (same FMS server)?

The two videos on the stage are suppose to have different size, placement etc. Still the last one created inherit the properties of the first video display. It also starts playing for an annoying couple of seconds before the first one. How can I avoid that (inherit and delay)?

My current project includes a seemingly simple animated sequence involving three .jpg files, converted to graphic symbols, each residing on individual layers of the timeline. Each occupies the entire stage of 600 x 300.The animation on each of these layers consists of the image fading from 0 to 100%, and the scaling from about 50% to 100%, over the span of 30 frames.My goal is to effect a 3-image crossfade, so the transitions are staggered between each (that is, the first level fade begins at frame 1, the second at frame 15, and the third at frame 30).
My problem is, when I initially run the sequence, the animation briefly halts at each frame within which a keyframe exists on any of the three layers. (BTW I have tried this with the new motion tween and the classic tween, so it occurs when hitting a property keyframe or a standard keyframe.)If I rerun the sequence without reloading, it displays perfectly. It is just that first run that displays the stuttering display.
Has anyone seen a Flash video player out there that will load and play two videos at the same time, such as for comparing videos? A potential client is looking for something along the lines of this. I've not been able to locate anything out there,and I'm wondering if there's a usability reason for this...Obviously, you wouldn't want the audio playing for both at the same time, and the bandwidth issue for something like this might be a concern too. My feeling is that you wouldn't want to restrict a user to just playing both videos at once, but give them the option to play them separately or at the same time, with controls for each audio and playback.

I'm designing a website with flash cs4 and actionscript3. Every section is made with a movieclip, which is faded in and out when a menu button is clicked.
I've noticed that the first time I click on a menu button, the fadein or fadeout effect of the corresponding section is not fluid (I'm using caurina tweener), but it stutters and the section movieclip appears/disappears suddenly.
I suppose it may be a buffering problem, because when I click the section button for the second time, the fadein and out is fluid. I've uploaded the website on a test page, but I'm not sure if posting the link is against the forum rules...
This is a photo portfolio and displays images that scale up to view reasonably well on even a 30-inch monitor very large. So images are capped around 300k each. This in and of itself is not a problem as I've seen other sites load many images of this size with no issues. Problem I'm having is that at some point--presumably the end of the load--the size of the image causes the player to stutter and so the scrolling motion that is occurring as these images load in the background gets jacked up and looks terrible.

I've code in place right now that adds the image to the display list only between scrolls of the enlargements, as I thought maybe the point at which the addChild hit was what was causing the stutter. I was wrong, though, and now don't know what to do. It's def the image loading that causes this as I sub-d in 30k images into the "Stills" section and the problem goes away. Also the stuttering goes away once all images are loaded into memory.
I am having some problems showing my videos in flash after moving it anywhere besides my computer.
I published my flash file once as a exe. file and sent it to another computer, where it all worked but my videos, which didn't show up at all.
I also published them as SWF files, then put them up on my free website (where i don't have access to the ftp) and the videos still aren't there.
The videos will play fine in an SWF file on my computer, but i am assuming when they are away from the videos, they don't have a source to access them.
I also tried sending the videos along with the SWF files when sending to other computers and it still doesn't work.
I now have a free hosted website (with wix.com if that makes any difference) with my flash work on, but no videos. I even tried to embed a youtube video into the scenes the videos are meant to appear, and put the videos on youtube, then i discovered you can't put that sort of HTML into flash.
how to show the videos on these sort of website, or even better, how to keep them in original file when sending them, so they show on other computers.
I'm fairly new to AS3 and I'm trying to make a pretty complicated (for me) set of behaviors. You can see what I'm trying to do here: [URL]. The Main class sets up the crosshair, the navigation, the color bars that randomly roam the stage, and the 3 words that float around. The idea is that when you hover over a word, the color bars split apart like a curtain and two random pictures appear. Then, when you roll off the word, the pictures disappear and the color bars start roaming again.
I've got the color bars, the floating words, and the curtain split working great. My problem is bringing in the pictures. For whatever reason, 60 to 70% of the time the tween stops before it is complete. I think it has something to do with the fact that I've got a hover on a piece of text, and the mouse sometimes slips into the empty spaces between the letters, but even when I put a semi-transparent rectangle over the whole word to act as a hit area I got the same results. i use loadmovie() to load youtube videos inside my flash website but when i load another video the old one doesn't stop, so i tried unloadmovie to destroy it but it seems that i did a mistake in my code
This is how the code looks to stop the old one an load the new:

How to do that? use other objects or classes, i only want to edit that code.

but i've just been learning what i can from the net. anyway, a friend of mine bought a flash website template off the net and gave it to me to modify for his wife's business (it's a spa). so i've got it all done and they are wanting to upload it onto the server for the grand opening this weekend, (even though i haven't been paid for doing the work yet).so i was wondering if there was some sort of actionscript i could insert so that the website will only play for a specific time (lets say from 5:00pm on 4/31/09 thru the weekend, to say... 6:00am on 5/3/09.
it would be extremely nice if one of you Geniuses could maybe even help out with the script
