I am new flash user and currently learning how to build dynamic webistes in flash , for this purpose i have loaded an xml file in my dynamic textfield and everything is working fine since i have used CDATA tag in my xml file , but when ever i try to change the font type with the help of xml , its simply not working .
I know that you can format text in XML through CDATA and htmlText option in flash.. my question is if one can format the content of an attribute in the same way.. i.e:If I have the following line in my XML file:

is it possible to format the "Hello World" text? Can I for example put the CDATA option in the content of the "Name" -tag like so:
I need some very urgent help for a project that is on a tight deadline. I have a CDATA node that i'm loading into Flash that has some html in it. Let's just say this is it:
You are very pretty.

When I trace out the xml after it is loaded into flash, it comes out as this:
You are very pretty.

I need it to come through with the tags in tact. How do I go about this?
now, the problem ... I cant extract the [CDATA[57.14]],[CDATA[14.29]] & ![CDATA[28.57]] to use it ... I tried several things with firstChild,ChildNodes, but no luck ... any one has a simple solution to put all this in an Array so i can get the stuff out to use it ..
I'm trying to include some JavaScript (JSON 2, to be precise)in with some ActionScript 3 classes. I'm using the inline XML method (E4X) of declaring the data. It looks like this:
public static var JSON_2:XML = <data> if (!this.JSON) { JSON = function () {[code]....
Actually, this is only about a quarter of what I need to include but this is where it breaks down. Right after the second slash in the last line, Flash reports: TypeError: Error #1091: XML parser failure: Unterminated CDATA section.
In fact, as you can see this is a perfectly valid CDATA section and isn't being terminated anywhere (there is no instance of "" anywhere in the data). Unfortunately, Flash doesn't think so and seems to think that the backslash is an XML node directive. how to effectively deal with this? The JSON source code has *many* backslashes so not having to convert them would be *very* useful.
In my application, I allow the user to change the font of a text field. They use a combobox component to select the font. Can I change the font of each individual label in the combobox to match the font it is named? Like, Microsoft Word style.
I am working on a as3 project in which the user select a font from Combo Box and that font SWF should be loaded Dynamically and then i need to change the font of the Dynamic text field.
I have swf font files downloaded from [URL]
My question is that how can i load the font swf dynamically from server and add them to the library and how can i use that swf to change the font of dynamic text field.
if there are embedded fonts in library the i can access them using this- --
var fontList:Array = Font.enumerateFonts(); for( var i:int=0; i<fontList.length; i++ ) { trace( "font: " + fontList[ i ].fontName ); }
But How to use dynamically loaded Font swf as a font type.
I need to present chemical formulas with subscripts and superscripts in a dynamic text box. To do this, I've downloaded and embedded the GG Subscript and GG Superscript fonts, created a dynamic text box with Arial as the font, and added ActionScript code to change the font when I need subscripts and superscripts. the following is a simplified version of my code.
[Code].....
I get a compiler error 1119 Access of possibly undefined property html through a reference with static flash.text:TextField. The text box is a dynamic text box, not static, so I'm puzzled.I don't get this error with the GG Subscript code above.
When i change the font size and font color i get the result i want. But when i try to change the font-family, or to make a part of text in italics or bold i fail to get what i want.I also tried this:
my textwith no success
The tree should have a minimum row count of 4 and a maximum of 10 (beyond which it should display the scroll bars). So, I have a tree with rowCount="4" and I want rowCount to change up to "10" depending on the currently expanded nodes. In debug I can see two of the tree's properties which I could use[code]...
But these are not accessible from outside so I can't find a way to understand if the tree is expanded or not.
Introduction: I have a flat ArrayCollection of object's, which i group to create the dataProvider for an AdvancedDataGrid. In this AdvancedDataGrid i have different branches representing different type of tasks. I want to conditionally change the icon for the leaf nodes in the AdvancedDataGrid based on a date field stored in each object. For this purpose lets say each Task object contains an id and an updatedDate (Representing when the task was last updated). If the task has not been updated in the last five days (updatedDate+5 < today) the icon of that leaf node(Task) should be red, in constrast to the opposite the leaf icon in the AdvancedDatagrid should be green, e.g. like the image below. In this case task 35 has not been updated in the last 5 days, while 13 and 39 have.
Question: How do i change the leaf icons in the ADG based on the updatedDate of the underlying object? I would think that i have to extend AdvancedDataGrid and override some method, but which and how?I have seen easy ways of changing the open and closed icons on the web, but no way of conditionally changing an open node's icon :)
I have an AdvancedDataGrid tree with a ArrayCollection as its dataprovider. Now, for instance, i drag a leaf from one node to another node. To catch the event I'm adding a Listener to dragComplete.
[Code]...
My Problem: I want to know the new node where the leaf was dropped. Actually i would have expected that in the event there is a property like dropParent. This is not the case.
I'm trying to embed a font in my project by using url("font.ttf") rather than local("Font Name"), but it doesn't seem to pick it up. The font in question is called "Gotham Bold". When i view the details of the font, the font weight is regular, however when i use local("Gotham Bold") in the css i have to specify fontWeight: bold or else it wont pick it up. But when I use url("folderGotham-Bold.ttf"), and specify fontWeight: bold, it says that font weight is not found for that TTF. If i remove the fontweight, there's no errors, but the font is not applied to the text.
I have a flash xml gallery in AS3. For the life of me I can not figure out how to change the font color. Its very complex and, I have know idea where to look. It dosn't seem to be driven from the xml, and I can only see very limited color # in the AS. only want to change text color.
What is the most common way to change the font in a TextField, within a package? I read a little bit about styling the text in the TextField with CSS, or possibly embedding the fonts, but I know little about accomplishing either.
I thought this was going to be easy! I would like to search an XML file for a particular data set i.e. set of nodes depending on a passed variable. However, storing a subset of my XML file via Code:var gallery = this.firstChild; and then searching 'gallery' as you would an array-using a for()-doesn't work since this.firstChild isn't returning an array
I am using Adobe Flash CS5 and Action Script 3, but I am struggling to do something really simple (which means I am looking in the wrong place probably), I have 5 TextInput fields, I have added to the stage via the 'Components' option, but after discovering how to change the colour of the fields, I now want to change the font which appears when you type directly into the fields when the Flash movie is playing, however I can't seems to find this function. I found a tutorial which mentioned going to the properties panel and then clicking 'Character, then 'Embed Font', but this maybe in CS4?
okay so I made a text box and I have it updating and displaying my score. I was able to set the text color when I made the text box. I also set the text font, but when I run the program it went to a defalt font. how do I set the font?
In my movie, I have a dynamic textfield on the timeline starting the first frame and going to the end. At various points during the movie, I change the text in the textfield (and that works just fine), but I also want to change the font-size when I do that. I've tried using setTextFormat to a different TextFormat object, but that doesn't seem to work. Maybe someone has a better idea?
I want to change font name, font size and character embedding properties of a component (Combobox in my case) through Flash IDE (not in action script).
