within one symbol name cookie, i double click it and went into the next layer. Then i insert 4 frames and each frame contain different pictures. So now i need to apply onclick events to click on it for it to score and lose points. first 2 pictures is scoring points pictures while the next 2 is losing points pictures.
as in follow a example online, they insert pictures within frames and run it then each time i click on it it score points...

Aug 18, 2009I am having a few problems atm with flash and wondering whether I am asking too much from flash or whether I am being stupid. Basically what I am trying to achieve is a box that is 300px by 300 px, within that box I have some text that I would like to place inside. As I would like to be able to regularly update this box (its a news feed) I have linked it too a .txt file. The problems that I have come across is that flash seems to have a limit on the amount of text it will allow in a dynamic text field. As even tho I have more text in my txt document, its is not displayed. This is how I have come to the presumtion that flash must be limiting the amount of text.

Aug 19, 2010I make a dynamic textfield, specify it's instance, then assign it a string or variable with AC, but often the dynamic text will not display all the text or variables. For example, I say
warning.text = "Please do not enter more info than necessary.";
Yet what appears onscreen, is:
"lease do not enter more ino tan neesary."
This happens no matter how big I make the text area, or how small I make the text, so I don't get why it's not all viewed. (Btw When I copy from the textfield I do get all the text)

Apr 24, 2009I searched the forums and couldn't find anything relevant to my issue.I'm creating 3 textfields and loading XML into them. What i need is to add a "label" before each textfield on the stage. For instance i'm pulling a city name from the XML file,i want to insert the word, "Location" on the stage before the textfield with the city's name in it. Here's a snippet from my code where i'm loading one of the variables into one of the dynamic textfields.

Jan 19, 2009Is there a way to show a long text in a dynamic text field with multiline attribute = on, without word wrapping? E.g., A dynamic text field contains 2 lines, and multiline is set to on. If I try to display a text in the text field, it is wrapping at the word, thereby losing some space in the text field (see code below):

my_txt.multiline = true;
my_txt.wordWrap = true;
my_txt.border = true;
my_txt.text = "One Hundredyears of solitude";

The display is showing only "One Hundredyear" in two lines, and the rest of characters are below the visible text area. The issue here is in the first line there is only "One" displayed, leaving a lot of space. If I can accommodate more characters in the first line, without word wrapping, the second line can accommodate the rest of the characters.

I already got the tooltip class, so the problem lies in fact on 'how to listen to mouse over events on specific texts inside a textfield'I've been trying to follow some methods from the livedocs but all I can get so far is a rectangle object of a single character using getCharIndexAtPoint and getCharBoundaries. It works if I just needed to add a tooltip to a single character (since it can detect which character I'm currently pointing at), but I need to search for actual words. It would be nice to have some sort of getMouseAt(text:String) but that doesn't seem to exist.

Jan 2, 2012I have been building a simple word game. It is smple but works fine. I am now trying to enhance some of the features.I would like to see if I can display one letter of each word so the Player has a hint. Think of this as a beginners level.The words are random from a text list. Either I can make the letters invisible and the game starts without a hint or I am able to select a letter using charAt() or creating a new variable substring()from the word which is the displayed repeatedly on the stage(not what I want) I have not been able to find a way to display one letter and display it in the correct order within the word and keep the remaining letters invisible.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Drag-the-word Quiz - Make The Word Fit Into The White Box?
Apr 1, 2003I am doing drag-the-word quiz. When you match the word with correct part, the message pop out, saying Bingo! If the word is matched with wrong part, the "Sorry. Try Again" message pops out, says "Sorry. Try Again". I managed to make the "Sorry. Try Again" message disappear. However it dun work anymore after that. Sometimes it is quite funny. When I play it, the "Sorry. Try Again" message dun pop out at all.
Another problem - I am not sure how to make the word fit into the white box. I only know how to make the word drop on the white box. Can you tell me how to do it? I will be adding voiceovers to the quiz when the word is matched with the part. For e.g it will say "bingo" or "Sorry. Try Again". How to attach the voiceovers to it?

Dynamic Text Loses Format
Nov 5, 2009I'm having some serious problems with my dynamic text fields. The case is, I format the dynamic text fields to have character spacing and line spacing both equal to 1. Everything seems fine in the SWF when the text is actually typed INTO the dynamic text field, but when I make it fetch text from Actionscript or an external XML file Flash player renders the text as if it had 0 character spacing and 0 line spacing.

Nov 21, 2010create a picture gallery with XML. There is a loader progress which simply displays a percentage when you click on any image. I have been trying to fomrat this text but with little luck. I am able to apply colors to the text but unable to change the font, size, weight etc.

Feb 20, 2009trying to format some dynamic text fields (i.e.) Im trying to specify the font style, the font size and colour, but my code below doesnt seem to be working, no errors being returned.

Also trying to specify the physical size of the dynamic text field via code, so that long sentences for example can be fully seen without being cut off, see image below.But Im unsure on how to work out the code for doing this tried the regular googling tatic but no results. my dynamic text fields are added to the stage via addChild(); so just physically changing the size of them on the stage .FLA isnt an option as they arent actually on the stage.

The text is formatting partially using TextFormat, but I have been unsuccessful setting the font family.
I think this is because the content is dynamic and called from the XML.
In any case, I then tried to set the font family using mx.styles, but also with no luck:

Feb 5, 2009Trying to connect an input text field to a dynamic text field - each with different formatting (font, size and justification). So far I'm just using the properties box to format the text. Using a.2.0. It works easily in a small test, but in a larger .fla, the results dynamic text field retains the formatting of the input field.
