Actionscript 3.0 :: Passing Variables From HTML Page To A SWF That Loads A CLASS?
Sep 15, 2009
So I'm wanting to create a DocumentClass that is willing to accept a variable for a path to an XML file, passed in from the HTML, like thisindex.HTML page would have this: mySWF.swf?xmlPath=xml/xmlFileName.xmlIn the FLA (SWF) I would have only a DocumentClass load a .AS file.In the .AS File I need to accept or read the paramater being passed in from the HTML page.
I have a html/flash site now, [URL]. i access email from my site itself by giving the userid and pwd text box which i copied from the actual website hosting my email access. i copied the entire <form...></form> tag to my page and thus was able to put the name and pwd in my home page only and access the email in a separate window. now i have redesigned my webpage using only flash. i would like to know how i can implement the same using flash. as i have not much experience using action scripting i am a bit stuck about how you pass the hidden form variables. the below is the the exact form syntax:
I have an html page with an .swf in it.when this page loads, i want it to play a certain section in my swf (which I have labelled). Is there a way for me to do this? using javascript?i.e. <body onload=( gotoandPlay (starthere) )
I have an animated logo swf file that loads and runs once on the home page every time the page loads. The logo has been updated to appear in three different colour schemes. I want one scheme to load and when the page is refreshed or revisited, one of the other colour schemes to load in its place. They can appear in any random order, just a different one to the one that played before reloading. Can someone point me to an answer or tell me how to do it? I have found a way in JavaScript but this only works on plain images, not swf files.
I am using Flash CS4, I have been looking for a tutorial out there about full screen mode, but haven't find one, what want is something like this: http:[url].....I want the website, in html page to fit the screen as soon as the site loads, in, I mean as soon as the user enter the address in the browser, I want the sire to fit the screen like the URL provided above,
when you go to the home.html page an animation will play from start and then stop at the end of it. However, for all other pages i.e contact.html aboutus.html we need the animation to skip to the end straight away and not to play the whole animation through. I was thinking this would be controlled by a variable or some kind of external text file ect. Basically in the first frame the actionscript needs to basically say
"if this html page is aboutus.html then go to the last frame and stop" and with the index page it would say "if this html page is index.html then keep playing"
I have a main.swf file. In first frame i load a background slideshow with this code:
[Code]...
My problem is that when the site loads the 1st time and click from the menu to go to the 2nd frame (1st content page) then i have to wait at about 3-4 seconds to load my html content. The same for the 3rd frame. If these two content pages load for the 1st time, then the pages open immediately. What can i do for this? Is there a way to open this content pages more quickly, or place a loader, and with what code?
I've been writing movies in AS2 that have variables passed to them via the src parameter of the page code, e.g. src="/Flash/theMovie.swf?value=1"
Then in the AS I don't need to define 'val', I can use it straight away. However, in AS3 - at least, as I understand it - it seems that I can't drop 'val' into the code without defining it, as it throws ""1120: Access of undefined property val".
So, if I add a line of code public var val:Number; or somesuch, will this be enough to ensure 'val' is useable once it comes through from the page?
I was just wondering what would be the "best" way to pass a variable that's in a swf to another swf located in another html.
something like index.swf embed in index.html and sends a value to a variable to index1.swf embed in index1.html.
What I'm trying to achieve is have a user select the language he wants, plays the rest of the swf and when it reaches the last frame it does something like
Code: //this is the last frame of splash.swf if (language == "fr") { _root.container.loadMovie("about.swf"); //_root is on index.swf
[Code]....
so that works perfectly when splash.swf is loaded into index.swf but now I want the same result but having splash.swf and index.swf on different html
how do I passing variables between two swf (html) files For instance how can I request the variable "var_1" in the file blikvanger.swf (or blikvanger.html).Here is my code of one as file (contact.as):
I have an HTML page with buttons. Each button needs to have a getURL to open the Flash site, but then somehow, needs to also load the appropriate swf into that Flash site... My reasoning is because I have some scripts under my site that need to be in HTML (or PHP) for search engines, that way I don't have to do the whole site in HTML.. I hate having a HTML index page, but it's the only solution I could come up with. So, when a visitor selects any of the navigation buttons, I don't want them to have to select that button again, when the Flash site loads. how to do this for Flash 7 / AS 2.0? Or if there are any posts here about it?
I have my main swf embedded into a html page, and what I want is that when a user selects a certain button it unloads my main swf and loads up a different one in the same HTML page.
I have a Flash movie (shell.swf) that loads in an external movie ("home.swf"). Within home.swf, one of two different swfs can load and I'd like to use a query string to determine which one loads.
I have a little Flash intro SWF i prepared and handed off to a friend who is implementing my intro animation into an HTML site.... The problem is that once the SWF (intro) finishes, there is a short gap (blank white page) before the actual HTML site loads. Is there a way around this? Is this something i need to code on my side (AS3) or is this a problem for my HTML/javascript buddy to figure out......or both.
I have two SWFs on an HTML page. One loads fine and the other (loaded externally) apparently fails.
I get this from the server:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed.
I get this when testing it locally in Safari:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.
I don't really understand where the hick-up is... because my paths are actually quite simple. All my flash files on the website are located in the same folder. The first one loads in fine, but the one being loaded into it does not. When viewing the SWF by itself, everything checks out as well.
I am working on creating a Flash menu that, depending on the page calling the swf file, will show a specific frame just for that page. It works almost perfectly except for the very first time you access the swf during a given browser session. If you refresh the browser window, it will start working just fine after that as long as you stay in that same window.Incidentally, this is only for IE. It won't work at all in Firefox. It pulls the first set of frames, which is a template menu for one of the departments. The HTML code providing the variables:
*********************START HTML CODE*******************************
I want to have links on several pages of my website which, when clicked, take the user to an html page called "portfolio.htm" which has a flash portfolio on it. This portfolio is set up with a series of buttons which load external .swf files for each project. How do I tell flash which .swf to load when the flash file opens.
ex: user clicks on "project x" on a web page called print.htm. The user should then be taken to portfolio.htm where a flash file resides and loads "project x" into a movie clip called "content_mc".
All the other posts I've read make reference to PHP. Is it neccesary to use PHP, or can I achieve this without PHP?
Does anyone know of a good way to pass variables between flash movies on different html pages? Should I use a flash cookie? pass the variables in the URL of the html file and then try to get them back out on the next page?
when I have access to my variables. I have the the follow code:
class Slider { var myVar = 4; function Slider () {[code]....
The slider function is being called first to update the myVar value then the findValue function is called. How do I get the find Value function to output 6 ? I want a function that updates the main classes' variable so thet I can use it from any function.
the button is set to: getURL("javascript:openNewWindow(movie,'thewin','h eight=400,width=400,toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes') ");Movie being the name of the variable set up earlier in the project to randomly choose my swf movie that I want to play. Then of course I have the function set up in the HTML page to listen for the variables for the URL, name and windowsettings. I can get the whole thing to work with an HTML page in the URL,
I had posted this in the PHP section but think it may be more relevant in Flash as have'nt had any replies yet..I have been asked to create a photo canvas website that allows users to upload an image, then apply several effects such as re-sizing/cropping/desaturate, then viewing the updated image on a generic wall and going to check out to buy the canvas.I am pretty new to web developing/designing, i am confident with html, css and actionscript to an extent, but have only used small parts of php before. My biggest worry is how to go between html > php >flash >back to html again. From what i understand i need to create the following functions:
1. Create a general html website which will store the upload form and flash photo editor swf on, when the user first access's the site i start the php session...
2. The user then uploads there image to the server using a simple php upload form which will store the file and create a unique named file also on the server...
3. The flash editor swf will then load up on the html page. Inside the actionscript of the swf i will tell flash to continue with the php session by calling it again and call users image on the server with the 'file reference' command. The editing functions such as cropping, canvas size will all have variables to mark what the user has chosen and these varaibles will get ent back to the html page using php to keep track of them for the checkout process...
4. Once the editing has finished the user will click 'finish' in the swf taking them to the php shopping basket/checkout which will call the variables sent in flash to determine final cost depending on what effects chosen.
Is the above correct and more importantly is it possible? The main part i am struggling to get my head around is editing in flash (say changing the uploaded image to 20 x 26) and then saving this back to the server and sending the new settings back into the html/php page.Is this all possible without using database and tables such as MySql?
Everything is embedded in an HTML site. The HTML loads a preloader that then loads the actual flash movie. Inside this movie I created a few buttons, inside a scroll bar movie clip. I want the buttons to load a whole new movie inside the same html. The code I'm using in the button is simply:
on(release) { loadMovie("new_movie.swf", 0); }
The problem is that it works beautifully in the Flash movie tester but doesn't do anything when tested inside the browser, embedded in the HTML. I think the problem is that the HTML embeds as an object the first movie, the preloader for the menu movie, not the menu movie itself.
As you should be able to see, it seems as though the Flash file on the left is causing the one on the right to reload upon final loading. The one on the right will reload itself once the one on the left finishes loading.
I have tested the flash files by themselves and both load only once when loaded by themselves. It seems as though one is causing the other to re-load which is just mind boggling to me.
