I succeeded with load external from other swfs to a stage of a main page when menu buttons are clicked. However, the main page's sub-menu buttons are not able to target the right flash objects such as movie clips from another swf (cultureContent), which is having panning background (x and y positions). The flash objects are four movie clips are in a movie clip on the stage of cultureContent. I set for that cultureContent:
// import Tween class
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;
[code]....
This part is not working and I suspected that I may make wrong method for targeting. I looked for the right method that call swf and movieclip at the same time but I cannot find answers.
first time poster. Let's say a have flash(swf) object on my page, and I have a specific JavaScript class (lets call it "JSClass")that works with that flash object. JavaScript class has some methods for communicating with the flash object. When the flash object is embedded in to page via swfObject, I create an instance of the JSClass, and give it the id of the flash object on the page, so that instance can specifically communicate with that flash object. I have more than one same flash file on the page, and I need to differentiate calls to specific flash objects. Something like this:
[Code].....
How can I call "flashControl1.onFlashReady()" from flash? Note that flash doesn't know which JSCLass instance to target. How can target particular JSClass instances from flash object.
I am doing a dynamically loading gallery by way of xml, now, i have the loading of the images going to where flash sizes them and puts them down as thumbs, all i want to do is when the user clicks on the thumb that already loaded image gets duplicated into the main area full size.... for the life of me i can't figure it out, it seems like it would be simple enough but i have been pulling my hair out for the longest..... by the way the publish settings are actionscript 2.0 with fp8.
I am trying to code a flash app entirely in the document class. I am using GestureWorks with a touch screen. When a user essentially presses a button it calls a method that should hide a specific graphic but not the graphic they touched.
Essentially I need a way to refer to a graphic on the screen using a method besides 'e.target'.
I am receiving this error: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
[Code]...
It can access photo1Sprite as 'e.target' when the button click happens on the photo1Sprite. The problem happens when to click one button (not photo1Sprite) and have it effect photo1Sprite. So I can make photo1Sprite react if my method is attached to it directly using 'e.target' but not if I am trying to call it from a method that was called from another element on the screen.
Something has come up where we may need to do some geo targeting to deliver different content to a video player based on the client's (as in end-user) location. Basically, we would want to control the delivery based on country. This sounds like a huge, deep topic that I can't even begin to address. Anyone have any thoughts or experience doing this sort of thing with Flash content?
The swf may need to sit on a server we have no back-end access to, so ideally it would be a solution that doesn't require PHP or any other sort of back end...but I'm not sure if that's possible.
I'm running ASDoc to document my code. (The command line tool shipped with Flex that generates documentation of your code.)I'm running into a problem. I created a project targeting Flash Player 10 and the project compiles just fine in Eclipse, but when running ASDoc, one of the classes I use contains methods that are NOT available to flash players lower than Flash Player 10. Thus the ASDoc tool is generating an error, b/c it doesn't know I am targeting Flash Player 10.How do I tell ASDoc that I wish to target Flash Player 10?
Has anyone successfully tried using Microphone.getEnhancedMicrophone() method in Adobe Flash CS5?I tried all these steps;
Step 1: Go to the locaiton C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Flash CS5CommonConfigurationActionScript 3.0 Step 2: Create a new folder with the name "FP10.3" Step 3: Copy the file and paste it in the following location: C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Flash CS5CommonConfigurationActionScript 3.0FP10.3
[code]....
Yet, now when I try to call the function Microphone.getEnhancedMicrophone() I get an error - TypeError: Error #1006: getEnhancedMicrophone is not a function After googling a bit, I figured out that I need to compile it using -swf-version=12 as arguments, but that seems to work with flex, I cannot figure out how would it work with Flash CS5.
Using Flash CS3 and created a navbar with AS 3. All links work fine to open html pages, but I'm having trouble targeting the pages to a specific frame.
I've checked and re-checked code in my actions layer and in my html pages.
Code for AS 3 is "navigateToURL(galleries, "_content");" "Galleries" is the variable for the URLRequest and "content" is the name of the target frame in the Index page. All files are local on my computer and the paths are correct.
I want to target multiple buttons and get different value by clicking different button.
Suppose there are 3 buttons: "button01", "button02, "button03".
This is my code:
var targetArr:Array = ["button01","button02","button03"]; for (var i:int = 0; i < targetArr.length; i++) { var target = getChildByName(targetArr[i]);
[Code]....
Instead of getting different value by clicking different button, I constantly get "3" as the value. I want: clicking "button01" will get "0" as the value, clicking "button02" will get "1" as the value, and clicking "button03" will get "2" as the value. How to do it?
I have dynamic links that I'm pulling from an already published RSS feed [URL] using the xml in said document.Now, the 'client' wants the video links from this document to link to an iframe above the flash interface. No problems targeting the iframe when the links are hardcoded into the flash piece, but they want complete control (yes, I know they're asking for a miracle). Here's my piece so far:[URL]
Here's the function and variable that pulls the links and titles: Code:
Code: function getPageTitle(ind):String{ var this_text = "<a href='" + _level0.link_array[ind] + "'>" + _level0.title_array[ind] + "</a>"; return this_text;
This is what I tried (along with just single quotes and double quotes), but to no avail: Code:
I am in the process of making my portfolio site but am having some trouble animating masks which mask each thumbnail...I can't target individual masks in my script, only one mask. I think the solution will be pretty simple but I don't have the skillz to do it.Here is my thumbloaded function:
Code: var my_thumb:Loader = Loader(e.target.loader); sprite = new MovieClip(); var shape:Shape = new Shape();[code]....
I'm trying to create a movieclip from the library dynamically on a certain event and then being able to target one specific movieclip by name after they've been created. I'm having problems being able to target and have tried a tone of different approaches, I think I'm close but I'm getting the error '#1006: getChildByName is not a function.'
I'm trying to push just the contents of the "txt" attribute in each "question" tag into an array named "questions" in AS3 Flash. Here is an excerpt from my xml file.
Here is an excerpt of my XML file. (It is properly formatted, and has a root node, etc., but is too long to post the entire thing. Below is just the part I am concerned with.
<question id='Q1' uId='99036' no_ans='2' txt='In a flat structure employees are not expected to provide their bosses with their opinions.' feedback='' type='MC' passingWeight='1' url='media/'> <answer id='Q1A1' uId='311288' txt='True' weight='0'/>[code]...
What I now need is a way to grab the txt attribute value from the answer tags and be able to access them from anywhere in the fla. Keep in mind that there are two answers for every question. ie:
On the stage I have a movieclip called mc_back. I also have a movieclip on the stage called mc_content. Now, inside mc_content I have a bunch of code and some of it adds, or should add, an EventListener to mc_back as well as a a function that works when mc_back is pressed.
So basically, all code is written inside mc_content and some of it needs to interact with mc_back.
how to target mc_back from inside mc_content. Using stage.mc_back or root.mc_back doesn't work and Google should be my friend, but in this particular problem, it's acting more like my enemy.
I have this situation where i'm trying to save "chat logs" while people switch around views in my flex mobile application..so, my plan is i'm starting out with a main object that I plan to re-use as the main chat log object..I call it textObjso, when someone new wants to chat my plan is to make a new object with the persons username.so how if i were to get the username from something like data.username how could I translate that into the var name of the object I want to make? So in the end i end up with.[code]
I have made a navigation that is a movieclip, now within the movieclip are 6 movieclips that are the "buttons" of the navigation. This is then placed on the maintimeline as the movies navigation. When one of the "buttons" is pressed i want it to go to a specific point on one of the 6 movieclip "buttons" timeline. This is the code that I have used before on the maintime line to target a movieclip there... but never a mc within an mc. First, would I still place this code on the maintime? or within the mc that the 6 mc buttons are placed? Second how would I target the nav buttons mc's?
I've got a php backend which delivers a time (e.g. '07:00:00'). This time is recognized as a string but I need it as a Date. So what I need is: Convert a string '07:00:00' to a Flex Date object. Is there a way to do this (without using regular expressions)?
I am currently trying to create an app using flash AIR.I would like to find some more information on how to make an object snap to another ojbect then follow its path, eg. a person object is already on the stage, then drag an arrow to the object which snaps to it, then on play button it follows the arrow path. all in pure actionscript, no guide layers.
I am creating an object pool to cache some recyclable objects in memory at the outset of my application in order to avoid (as much as possible) the performance issues caused by GC running; if possible I'd like to minimize the memory my object pool reserves, so I'm attempting to pool generic forms of the objects (with no methods) and then casting the generic variants to more specific and complex object types which extend the generic form when I actually want them on the stage.
The trouble is that to do this requires the generic variant class to import/extend MovieClip (because the more complicated objects are themselves MovieClips and make use of DisplayObject methods)-- does simply importing and/or extending a class add to the memory an object takes up when instantiated even if it never uses methods from the inherited class? It makes sense that it would, and some light profiling seems to suggest that it does, but I'm not 100% certain. About how large should an 'empty' MovieClip instance be in bytes?
I'm about to implement public function writeExternal( output:IDataOutput ):void {...} public function readExternal( input:IDataInput ):void {...} to make a set of object serializable.
Although I'm pretty sure, that I implemented all correctly, readExternal(..) at a certain point complains about too few data left to read: RangeError: Error #2006: The supplied index is out of bounds. at flash.filesystem::FileStream/readObject()
I wonder, if I have a circular object network like A = { left -> B, right -> B } B = { father -> A } And I call writeObject( a ) Will Flex serialize the hole object network and each object once and only one?
I did this: Declared type annotations like this: [RemoteClass(alias="model.MyClass")] Implemented parameter-free constructors Declared all classes using implements IExternalizable SharedObject's send() method is guaranteed to send each object once and only once.
Additional infos: Reading and writing a ByteArray Using Remote Object Components IExternalizable interface
I am encountering a problem in my app only when it is run in flash player 10.1.85.3. Some earlier player versions I have tried are working fine.From what I can tell it seems related to the following:

When searching for objects (not strings) in Dictionary objects using the 'in' operator, if the object is not found in the Dictionary object, it will be searched for in the delegate objects. With 10.1, the toString operator will be called on the Object if not found in the Dictionary. This can cause problems with Proxy objects who need to define the callProperty function or it will generate a RTE. ...what it means "it will be searched for in the delegate objects"?
How can i cast a object to another type? in AS3 i tried putting (objectType) infront of the variable but it doesnt work, below i have added objects of fishes into the child, and i am getting the fishes back out when mouse down is triggered, and then calling the fishes what to do. however i cant call the method of the custom class fish because it is a displayobject.[code]...
i am currently having trouble with my object rotating to face another object.currently it works fine as in this picture, my object at the origin will be able to rotate and move to the object in the 3 quadrants except the quadrant with positive 90degrees to 180 degrees, my object will rotate a few full rotation for some time while moving to the object does anyone know why? the sentence that i use to rotate is rotation += (foodLocationDegrees - (rotation - 90)) * .2; whereby food is calculated using
I'm trying to create a boundary for a player object, controlled with arrow keys, in my game using the main stage's height and width. For example, one test point is at the top edge of the player object's bounding box so that when the player object's head touches the stage's top edge, the player can't move anymore to the north. The player object is manually instantiated to the center of the stage by using the Flash stage editor so it will start at the center before the program starts.The problem is that right at the start of the program, I can no longer move the player object up or down with the arrow keys but I can still move it left or right. The intention is to allow the player to move north until the player object's head touches the top edge of the main stage.[code]
I am trying to do a apply a tween for the width property on a MovieClip Object but every time it changes the width and the position too, and I don't want that. I want to change the width going to one side without changing the x and y of the object.
I tried both of thes and they gave the same result.
var c:Tween = new Tween(left, "scaleX", Strong.easeOut, 1, 1.5,20,true); var c:Tween = new Tween(left, "width", Strong.easeOut, 20, 200,20,true);
I think it is applying the transformation according to a center of the movie clip. but I don't know how it can be changed.
I've got a dynamic textfield clip which is placed twice on the stage. It also includes a button. Funny thing is, the first trace works (tracing its _y value: 0 for clip 1 and 200 for duplicate clip 2). When I press the down button of both clips however it traces undefined though it's the same line. How does onPress mess up the targetting of both clips? [code]
1. I'm loading an external swf onto my main swf. 2. Then I'm tweening an object which is separate to the loaded swf. 3. When the tween has completed I'm calling a function to make the loaded swf gotoAndPlay(2);
